Schmedt Scharffix Leather Paring Device Kit

There a several Chinese versions of this tool but I decided to spring for the German version. I am using it to shave large rounds of leather for drum heads, to make their thickness consistent, which I'm sure is not the intended use but it works very well. It is very stable and the blade is excellent, and in fact I have not been able (not that I'm trying) to make any mistakes or cut deeper than I intended. Very happy with the product!

Easy to set up. Very sturdy. Blade is sharp and easy enough to use. But you got to plan ahead on how you wanna skive the small parts and you need a little practice and force to be able to get a clean level skive.

takes some learning and finesse to operate it successfully. Razor blades are very thin and extremely sharp, use caution when using the unit Merely touching the blade will make a cut.
