Xiè Xiè, Xié Xié, XIÈ XIÉ (thank yo
Fantastic product, easy to install small enough to fit in that tiny space. In the ceiling, a very nice looking wall switch. A very well laid out remote control, easy to connect to Alexa. And it never fails to work flawlessly, I say, Xié Xié for a very well made QUIET, long lasting, wonderfully made product. In addition to the review, I have included step-by-step instructions. Connect it with Alexa, but I'm using speech to text. So if there are any confusing sentences in here., that's why. Alexa connection: The product is Flawless, we humans are not sometimes lol, so I'll walk you thru the alexa connection so you don't have to fumble around for the remote while watching the french connection. This will be far easier than it looks so fear, not. Before we get into programming the fan, when installing the the wall switch, turn it to the highest level and leave it there; use your remote control or your vocal command to Alexa to dictate the speed. Putting the wall switch on low will govern or limit how fast your fan can spin. It'll only spin as fast as what you've set it to on the wall. So set it to high, leave it there and use your remote or your vocal commands to Alexa, to change the speed of the fan. 1. Make sure that your router is in 2.4 mbps mode. It will not work in 5mbps mode. 2. There are literally millions of items that you can buy that use a remote control, and there's no way that Alexa can understand the command for all of these remotes, so what the industry did is brilliant. They have all of these intermediary apps like Google Home, Smart things, and the one this fan uses, which is called Smart Life. Smart life is an app that you can download on your phone from the Google Play Store, or whatever store Apple uses for Iphones, which is gonna be very similar -wherever you go to download apps. Regardless of what phone you have, there will be a place to download apps. You very simply download "Smart Life", being careful with that app is clearly stated to be Smart Life because there are a lot of apps that choose similar names which is confusing. They do that on purpose, so that you look at the paid for advertisers. 3. Put your device in fairing mode. Pairing mode is how your remote control and your fan. Talk to the smart life app. So put your remote in pairing mode, turn the power Switch on the wall to the on position and turn on the fan to its lowest setting. Then hold down the 8 hour button until the light goes out, you are now in pairing mode and this should then link you're ceiling fan to the smart life app. In fact, you could watch the screen and it will show up fairly quickly on the screen. 4. Finally, navigate in the app to where it says third party services and you will see Alexa Vere tap Alexa and Alexa in smart life will have a little conversation and the app should then say you are now linked to Alexa. 5. Go to Alexa, open Skills, search for "Smart Life" and tap on it, tap on "Launch" and you're home. Payne, knew it hitch until the low rating that smart life gets. It's only because people don't follow directions, they get frustrated, and they give it a low rating. Those people should be embarrassed once to figure out what they did wrong. Anyway, after you hit launch your home. And in a few minutes, whatever you named that fan, for example "Ceiling Fan" or "Livingroom Fan" will show up on your device list. You can now use alexa to say things like "Alexa, Ceiling fan on one ceiling, fan on two, fan three." Notice, in some of those commands, I omitted the the word ceiling, that's because alexa is generally smarted off two know what you're talking about, unless you have another fan very close by. if you used the light kit I'd name the fan & light something specific like "light fan 1," because there's bound to be more lights around. If you just name it "light" it'll confuse Alexa. In my business I tend dissuade light kits in living rooms as they make the ceiling look lower, and you'll seldomly use it if you have floor lamps, but I do use light kits in bedrooms. You should be all set now. And I will say one more time that this product, if installed correctly works flawlessly. Secondly, turn the wall, switch to the highest position and leave it there. Don't ever turn the fan on and off with that. Switch, use the Remote or your voice or set an automatic turn off or on time in Alexa by saying "Alexa turn the fan off every night at eleven thirty." Or, "Alexa turn the fan to level two for 3 hours."

Small size makes for easy installation.
Decent quality and functions as desired. The install was easy and straightforward. I have a lot of experience with household wiring so take that into consideration. Most DIYers should be able to follow the instructions and install this. Can’t beat the value for money.

Works great with my 42" Hunter Mayfield 5-blade flush mount ceiling fan
This little remote is super easy to wire up. There is a black and a white wire coming from one end of the receiver to connect to the ceiling's wires, (and in this old house we only have two wires coming from the ceiling). Then the other end of the receiver has the wires that connect to the ceiling fan and they are color coded to match perfectly, so no thinking or guessing is involved. The only thing is, the receiver does not fit between the bracket attached to the ceiling, and the other bracket that holds the ceiling fan, but it's easy to secure it by threading a long plastic tie through there and snugging it up against the brackets... then the motor housing easily slides over all, making it a good fit. Just leave the yellow antenna wire peeking out the top of the housing. One thing to remember.... the pull chains for the light must be pulled to the on position, and the fan pull chain must be pulled three times to put it in the fastest position, in order for the remote to control them. I forgot about the fan's pull chain and nearly took the entire thing apart thinking the wiring somewhere must have come loose when I shoved it all up in the brackets, as the remote would only control the light, not the fan.... NOPE... just forgot to pull the chain for the fan! And make sure your wall switch is turned on - And you cannot use a dimmer wall switch with some fans. Like the model I got. A dimmer switch will make the fan hum loudly. I had to install a regular light switch and then it worked perfectly and is completely silent. And on that note, this remote does not include a dimmer feature. The light is either on or off. That's fine with me because if I want low light I don't use the ceiling light anyway.

New Replacement Fan Remote -
I had purchased fan controllers by a different manufacturer that repeatedly failed on me (sensitive to power outages). I purchased this remote to replace those by the other manufacturer. This remote has a controller box that is much smaller in size, and therefore much, much easier to install than those that have been the industry standard (& much bigger) for years. Much easier to get all the wires tucked in, in a shallow J-Box. Note that the manual states that one must leave the antenna wire exposed. I did not do this, but kept it in the canopy (bottom of the canopy), and it works just fine. Note that one can turn the beep off (tells how in the instruction manual). Note that the two Neutral wires on the controller must be tied together to the line neutral, but come out of opposite ends of the controller. The controller wires are only 3-1/2" long, and so it is problematic to get both wires to the line neutral. The neutral on the fan controller end should be made 10" long to facilitate wiring. I had to add a length of wire to the one neutral to be able to install the controller. I am using the controller for fan only, and it works just fine. Hopefully this device is more rugged (able to handle power outages) than the other manufacturer's devices that I bought previously. Time will tell. I will post if any problems are experienced.

Installed 3 of these into my condos fans in Costa Rica. They work perfectly and make a huge difference. Before installing these my fans only had one speed, fast. It felt like the condo was going to take off. Now we have 3 speeds but medium speed is perfect. They were easy to install but for my fans which are down-rod style the canopy that butts up against the ceiling are smallish and an upside down bell shape so the black receiver needed to be a bit smaller. It means my canopies no longer butt completely up to the ceiling at one side. This didn’t bother me as I butted it up against the ceiling where you would see it as you came into the room and the small gap is where you would really have to look to see it. All in all I was very happy with this purchase. The remotes in their holders screwed to the walls look handsome too.
