I cannot determine if this is an RF or IR unit. I want to shoot through the cabinet door (wood). Will this remote do it?

To shoot through the door (wood), you need a shotgun, sir :). Like somebody said - asking about "this" without specifying the model won't be useful. Amazon grouped all the answers and all the reviews for several different Harmony remotes in one page. There is no RF in any of those. 350 and 650 are purely IR. Harmony hub combos - remote with hub - have remote communicating with hub through WiFi (not RF). Then the hub blasts IR codes to your devices. You need to place hub in the cabinet with your device.

What is the warranty on the refurbished product? It says 'minimum 90 days' but the new remotes come with a year. do we know definitively how long?

I have always bought refurbished remotes (I'm on my third or fourth now). They have lasted every bit as long as a new one would have, I just wanted to upgrade. I've never had to use their warranty service, but I always took that to mean they'll fix or replace your refurb within the 90 day period, and after that it would be at their discretion whether they would provide you with full or partial service, depending on the nature of the problem.
