and great customer service
Extremely impressed with this product. Received it in 2 days, well packaged, and great customer service. I researched for 2-3 hours on the internet, ALL of the coupler lock configurations, before deciding on this "Vault" design. Also saw the YouTube videos on how easily other locks can be defeated. This thing is built like a tank, fits my coupler well, looks like it would be incredibly difficult to defeat this design. I think it will discourage most thieves from attempting to steal my trailer. With that being said, if some scumbag wants to steal your trailer bad enough, they will get it. HOWEVER, this lock will not be easy to break, and along with additional security like a wheel boot (I also bought one of these) and locking your chains up tight so no one can drag your trailer to another spot, 99% of thieves will go elsewhere to find an easier target.Well built, AMERICAN made, easy to install, fits well, quality design- so far I am very satisfied.

Good . But not thief proof
I bough this lock 5 months ago after seing on YouTube how easy it was to break other hitch locks so this one seem to be the solution. I am a flooring contractor and needed to secure my 7x14 tandem axle cargo trailer that me and my crew use for work. after a couple of weeks of using this lock I was pretty confident my trailer was safe . One evening working near Salado Tx. I realized I needed to leave for another costumer appointment , and the trailer was overload w 3 big pallets of tile ,about 7000 ponds . Because my workers weren't w me I wouldn't of had enough time to unload it in time ..... So I decided to leave it over night (pretty good neighborhood ) so I thought .. It was the VERY FIRST TIME I had ever left it other than my garage! To my surprise it was gone in the morning!!! Although this thief couldn't break the lock he hooked the security chains to he's truck and drugged it . I know they coulnt break it because I could see the drag marks on the street for about 5 miles. After wich they disappeared . The police started an investigation but to this day I haven't heard from them. And I doubt I will ever find it . .. Got another trailer same size therefore I'm buying this lock again. Moral of the story.. .. Have more than one thing to secure your goods. Now I loop a heavy duty chain trough the tires, gps inside, and lock the security chains in the front.....***UPDATE! !**a month after posting this review the police had found my trailer totally empty of course. they were able to arrest 26 people in the Central Texas area

Product support is a facade! They have number but the MANAGER doesn't sound like she wants to work! She blames the OWNER for all the shenanigans! She'll tell you next week... next week... and then next week... which leads us to TODAY where I can no longer return this piece of crap! Moral of this experience? If it did not work the first time, return the freaking thing and grab another one! Don't fall for the trap!

Mixed review
So far , the directions are a bit vague . you get extra parts but they don’t tell you what to use them for . the two halves wouldn’t fit together . I experimented with the diff hole, shorter sleeve etc and finally got it to work but still not perfect, I may have to widen the slot a hair . then emailed the company about ordering extra keys just in case . they told me to go to a locksmith (?) what ?? the housing is very sturdy , the lock itself feels pretty cheap. like toolbox grade cheap . for $200. ?

My pick to up the ante against trailer thieves for the next round
I also invested in this lock after a failed attempt to steal my travel trailer secured by another lock that worked, but only by luck or lack of experience on the part of the thieves. I wanted to be sure the next time they would not be nearly as successful. I found out about the lock via a YouTube video showing how easy it was to bypass many other lock styles on the market with common tools (crowbar, hacksaw, sledgehammer, etc.) The hitch lock is a beast, made of hardened steel and weighs a considerable amount. This company (out of Eugene, OR) has obviously threat-modeled the design against many of the common tools and techniques. The rod that goes into the ball hitch is actually covered by a steel tube that is meant to spin so that cutting tools can't get a bite on it to cut it off. They even picked a lock that has 500 different key combinations so you won't have the problems of some other locks where a bad guy could just order another lock and have a good chance of just getting a key that would work on your lock.I found out from a brochure included in the shipment that they also sell a security cable that you can thread through the hitch lock to secure your tanks and any other gear at your campsite, using the security of the hitch lock rather than having to rely on an inferior lock on other cables. This is only sold on their website it appears, not Amazon. I'm going to probably get this to secure my tanks and tow chains year-round and probably our bicycles when at the campsite.

Great Security solution for trailer.
I looked at the trailers around our lot and noticed they all had a different solution for preventing someone from hooking up to a trailer. After watching a youtube video on how easy it was to break the lock of almost every coupler lock on the market, I see this one is different. I purchased this and I'm happy with the design and the added piece of mind I get when I leave my trailer at our lot. My only complaint is the lock itself is a inconsistent or just hard to maneuver sometimes.

Works Great!
The lock works great on my Airstream coupler, would be nice if the key hole was on the side of the box to make it easier to unlock, but that would probably make it easier to breach. Happy with the lock!
