Best tester I've ever owned
I've bought a lot of cable testers like this one over the years but this is the best. Tests about any cable you would have on location. Built like a rock. Have 2 I like them so much. Use it in the field and studio to test all cables before we run them. Never leave for a gig without it.

Janky battery compartment.
I'm not sure if I was sent an open box, of b stock but the battery compartment won't stay locked in place. I used some gaff tape to do the job, but it was still a bummer. Other than that it's great. Works as it should.

Great unit, super bright LEDs.
This tool is fantastic to have around. It works well, but I had to put some tape over the LEDs so they weren't so blinding. Easy fix. I've used this a lot and it's holding up great. Made of good, solid metal.

Highly recommended
This is a must have for all into audio.Super easy to use and built well. When you spend thousands on gear why not check the weakest links (cables) before you plug them into expensive equipment.

Great unit but no repair parts available
Originally would have given +5 stars. Built like a tank, got much street credits for fixing a band’s Speakon 4p cable during a performance.HOWEVER, now after 4 years of very polite usage, one of the “Ethernet” jacks has developed a problem. A contact has retreated making all network cables look bad. Hosa does not keep spare parts. If anybody out there can point me in the direction of a repair jack that is identical, it would be greatly appreciated.

From great cables, to great cable testers! Thanks Hosa for providing great products so consistently!

Loose Battery Compartment (SOLUTION FOUND)
This seems to be a very sturdy unit, with one major flaw- the battery compartment does not stay in place. You have to press it in while testing. Mine slides out if I hold the unit upright.I was about to return it and either try a different unit of the same model or try a Mackie, but they have the same battery holder and reviews confirm that they all have the same issue- not just the unit I bought.Thankfully, I came up with a simple solution...after toying with the idea of a strap to hold it in place, I decided to try a "pressure fitting"....Folded up a piece of paper a couple times, placed it on the underside of the battery compartment and slid them in together. It's just enough to keep it tight and in place (even while shaking). Just need a screwdriver or something to pop it out.On another note- the LED's are way too bright. Good I guess if you're using it outside in the daytime (still overkill), but if you're looking at it inside, you can't see the numbers. One user mentioned using tape to dull them, I suspect I'll be doing the same thing.1/8" TRS would have been a useful inclusion, but I've usually got enough 1/4" adapters with me anyway.
