Feel and sound like Flatwound Strings!
There were a few places on the packaging that said “brighter” sounding flats but sound like regular flats to me. I went with these flats simply because they gauge and also that I’ve had DR Strings before. Not disappointed but I wouldn’t say this strings are bright at all. I’ll be uploading a demo video to this product to so check that out. I play slab, pick, and finger style. They are quality strings, I’ll say that. I’ll also attach some pictures to this review. This is definitely a playable gauge, no fret buzz which is a huge pro. Over all, happy with my purchase but they probably drop the price on this a little. I think anything over $30 is asking for too much. But that’s all personally opinion. Along with the rest of this review. I was also surprised to find out that this strings have gold threading on both ends of every string, which didn’t turn out level on my bass but that’s a minor detail. I’ll include a picture of that as well. One thing that did get to me though, is that the last two strings(D&G) sounded much brighter than the other 3. So it sounds weird going from D string to A. That’s my only real complaint about this set, I’ll write an update on this later if I notice anything change over time. My other DR Strings seem so mellow out over the span of a few months so we’ll see how these do. And one last thing, the treading on the B string is not holding up, which you can see in the photo of the headstock. Not very pretty to look at.

Recent convert to flatwounds
I've played roundwounds for 30 years and finally decided to try flatwounds. I should have tried them a long time ago. I play a lot of reggae and R&B and don't like bright strings. They sound and feel great. I love them

I like them
Good strings for my American Ultra II jazz bass V. Doesn’t sound dead like most flat wounds. Same gauges as the factory strings so I don’t need to file the nut.

Good quality strings but they feel a little "off"
These strings sound really good on my 5-string bass, but there's just something about them that feels a little "off" to me. They are a hand-wound string, which sounds great, but it means that there are little inconsistencies throughout the strings. They don't feel as good or as playable as the Ernie Ball Super Slinkies flatwounds on my 4-string. I got these simply because they would get here in time for a show. Now I wish I had stuck with my Ernie's.

I had to return two sets - unrealistic customer service request
Product arrived corroded while packaged in an "anti-corrosion" sleeve. Packaging did appear to be previously opened based on creases in the outer box, but full price was charged and it did not state it was a returned product. DR does not hermetically seal their strings, I don't know what their anti-corrosion sleeve does. Unlike other brands, they use unsealed envelopes and open air boxes... I contacted DR and, while responsive to my inquiry, their only solution was to send them the strings for a replacement set. I chose to just use the 30-day return policy through Amazon. DR's solution was not practical, almost like a tire company wanting you to send your tires in before giving you a replacement. I would really like to give this brand a try as I do like the design of this particular flat wound, but I bought Dunlops to replace these as I also had a problem with another set of DRs sold by Amazon directly and not an authorized reseller, like Mighty Strong (who was confirmed to be authorized by the manufacturer). I thought they were pretty balanced except for the 0.65 D string. It just jumped out like a banshee in a funeral home. OK, maybe it was noticeable like a drunk guy trying to keep his voice down at a one year old's birthday party. Since I cannot afford to have down time with my only 5-string bass, I couldn't and won't give DR another crack at it.

3 stars for me, but read first because it might be your string...
I have been playing roundwounds on my 5 string jazz bass for quite some time. I found these to be not truly flatwound, but maybe a bit of a hybrid. Other bassists had the same opinion when sitting in on this bass. I was hoping for a similar attack method that I would get on my flatwounds that i use on my upright bass, but I was just never able to get a proper "pop" out of these. I'm not talking about a Marcus Miller or Victor Wooten "pop," I'm referring to getting that treble-y attack that I get out of my Thomastik strings on my upright, where I can get a swing bounce on a 1-3-5-6-7-6-5-3 blues line. The "ghost" attack is maybe what I'd call it. You know, the bounce on the "AND..." They just didn't sing on my bass. That doesn't mean that they don't sing on other basses or with other bassist's technique. They just weren't the string for me. I put back on medium Boomers which I don't particularly love, but I don't hate. Still searching for the right string. This just wasn't it for me.

Love the online pricing, (better than the store). Getting them within 3 or 4 days of ordering is a huge bonus.

Quality strings. I love their smooth texture and the quality of sound they produce. Did take a while to arrive- they came from Germany, so as long as you are not desperate, it's not a problem. I bought some round wounds to tide me over, but will be putting these back on asap!
