desertcart.com: The Maddest Obsession (Made): 9781093765007: Lori, Danielle: Books Review: Not *normally* a 5 Star Rater- but I’m blown away. - THIS IS SPOILER FREE. READ IF YOURE ON THE FENCE ABOUT READING THIS OR ABOUT READING THE FIRST ONE. 😅 Okay seriously. Let’s talk about this, guys. Part 1 of Review—Why Book is Great: This book was so brilliantly written. The whole development of these characters was clearly well thought out and plotted with great attention to detail. I’m assuming this is because the writer had to go back in time to tell these Characters’ stories and then weave it into the parts of book 1. And because of this, everything was carefully thought through and mapped out. This is a testament to how every writer should be mapping out these stories just like this before writing them— because LOOK AT THE QUALITY ACHIEVED!! Part 1.2– The Couple Dynamic: I haven’t been this blown away by a romance novel in a very long time. Christian and Gianna are almost like the GrumpyXSunshine trope, but Gianna doesn’t let people push her around. She is kind and optimistic but it’s mostly stemming from the trauma she’s experienced throughout her life. I’ve seen people disliking Gianna and There will be no Gianna slander on my watch. Make no mistake, she may come across as entitled and immature, but she is as 3 dimensional as a character can get. Her motivations follow her through the novel. Now, Christian. Man. He is the closeted cinnamon roll we all need in our lives. (What? Don’t we all love a semi sociopathic king? Only me? Okay.. lol) Just like Gianna he has experienced trauma, but his coping mechanisms aren’t like Gianna’s(hers being drugs and alcohol and optimistically risky behaviors) — his consist of mild OCD, hyper fixations, and shielding his emotions from others. Part 1.3– Mood Of Novel. Dark romance. Comedy: Now, I know the subject matter seems dark. There is killing and trauma and drug use and mental health issues — HOWEVER— this novel is not weighed down for longer than necessary. The BANTER. Jesus. The banter. It’s always enlightening when you read what actual great banter is and realize the other books you thought had great banter really were just meh. Bc that’s what happened here. The banter is so great. I actually was laughing out loud. And I’m from the generation of “lol” *keeps straight face*. Gianna is so funny. Her internal dialogue is great- but doesn’t feel like the jokes are forced or trying to make her quirky. And Christian- his dry-witty responses to her are sooo funny. Made me love him. This book has so many levels to it. I promise this is one of the lightest “dark romances” I’ve read. In terms of emotional weight I felt reading it. Because even when you find out the horrid details of their past traumas — their relationships brings you back to the surface of this witty adorable atmosphere. They react in ways that I’ve seen actual trauma victims react in terms of letting things roll off your back when possible - but having no choice but to succumb to triggers. Part 2– Critiques: The prose can still use work. Repeated phrases are always a Pete peeve for me. Like “vise grip on my wrist”- girl. There are so many other way to say this. Lol and “look of vehemence”. When writers use these same phrases to describe the same things over and over again it starts to feel like they’re using a template to write. But— with that being said, the character development and their relationship development is so good that I was able to over look that. Where it would’ve normally taken me out of the story- I was already so sucked into it that it didn’t affect me as much. I RECOMMEND SO MUCH! Lol Part 3– Relationship to First Book: The crappy thing is that the first book was good. But just good. I would rate that at 3? The lead’s relationship was cute. I really like Ace and Elena. But the conflicts felt forced. Could’ve been solved with simple communication. the story was entertaining though. I wouldn’t recommend the first book to anyone though. I *WOULD* recommend the second(if you haven’t been able to tell by now) But in order to read this book you really need to read the first one. Which sucks because the first one doesn’t give the greatest impression of what the second book has to offer. *** So, if you’re wondering if you should read this book YESS. Should you read the first one in order to fully grasp this book? YESS After you finish the first book and you’re like “eh. It’s okay” should you ignore that opinion and read this book anyways? Y U P lol Okay. That’s my rant. Whew. Lovely to see you again, Book Hangover. 😅 Review: This book was sooo good! - Christian and Gianna had me obsessed.I recommend the audio because the voice actors did amazing! They are both fire characters and believe me that shows up in the book.

Fate
The Maddest Obsession by Danielle Lori completely surprised me in the best way. What starts as a tense, obsessive push-and-pull between Gianna and Christian slowly unfolds into something deeply emotional and healing. Gianna is such a compelling FMC. On the surface she’s chaotic, reckless, and addicted to the fast life—parties, alcohol, attention—but underneath all of that is someone who’s been deeply hurt and is trying to outrun her past. Her struggles with addiction and the trauma she carries make her feel raw and real. Watching her slowly reclaim her strength and self-worth throughout the story was incredibly powerful. Christian, the MMC, is just as complex. He comes off cold, calculating, and emotionally distant, but the more you see of him, the clearer it becomes that he’s been carrying his own scars for years. His quiet obsession with Gianna isn’t just possessiveness—it’s protection, patience, and a deep understanding of the pain she hides from everyone else. What makes their dynamic so compelling is that he never tries to control or “fix” her; instead, he stands beside her while she fights her own battles. Both characters have messy pasts—trauma, addiction, betrayal, and the lasting impact of sexual assault—but the story treats those experiences as part of their healing journeys rather than defining them forever. Their relationship evolves slowly from hostility and mistrust into something surprisingly tender. They challenge each other, call out each other’s self-destructive habits, and ultimately help each other confront the things they’ve been running from. By the end, their love feels earned. It’s not perfect or easy, but it’s built on understanding, loyalty, and the choice to grow beyond the worst moments of their lives. Seeing Gianna find stability and self-acceptance while Christian finally lets someone past his walls made the ending incredibly satisfying. It’s dark, emotional, and intense—but at its core, The Maddest Obsession is a story about two broken people finding healing and safety in each other.

A grumpy killer that’s swoony and meets his match with a feisty h
Ahhh… I love reading feisty h’s that have the best banter, and Gianna totally does… on top of the steamy chemistry with the grumpy dirty fed Christian-SOLD- I was eating this like candy. This book is told in two sections, the past (h is 21) and the present (h is 27/28). The book starts off when Gianna’s 21 and has been married for a year. She gets arrested because she’s on drugs, cocaine, and Christian has to bail her out of jail. For such a young woman, she’s gone through a lot, mostly because her much-older husband keeps cheating on her and she’s stuck in a life she doesn’t necessarily want. As doing as Christian and Gianna meet, the banter begins, and this underlying sizzle ignites. Time passes and she continues being married to her abusive/cheating hubby- and then one night, her ex-best friend (who’s her hubby’s mistress) and her hubby get killed- which means she becomes a widow at the ripe age of 23. A year later, Gianna flirts with another man, one Christian warns her about, and she decides she doesn’t want to listen. She takes him home, and Christian follows them, and takes care of the problem 😬. When she confronts Christian, their chemistry explodes, and damn… it was 🥵🔥. Jeeezus, that man knows how to please his woman… too bad it’s not a home run 😅 (you see what I did there)… and that she’s forced to marry YET AGAIN to an even older man than before… but patience is key when waiting for perfection. 3 years pass and Gianna’s married but hasn’t ever been with her ancient hubby. When Christian comes back into her life, their connection is undeniable. It’s raw, passionate, visceral. When they’re in the same room, the damn tension is thick and explosive. 🔥💦🥵. Their primal connection is palpable through every kiss, every throat grab, every spank/p slap, every hair pull, every breath and every push against the wall. Jeeezus 💦😅🤤it’s steamy!!! And the way Christian defends Gianna’s honor (when he kills yet another man that’s being disrespectful towards her) is so sweet. The fact that he’s ONLY ever kissed Gianna was so swooooony and just so perfect 🥺. Although he’s not physically a v, he’s definitely an emotional v. Christian has been OBSESSED with Gianna for years… and he’ll do whatever he needs to to get what he wants 😈😅. I love the way he manipulates and molds situations to meet his needs, even if Gianna doesn’t necessarily want them to happen lol. Even though he’s OCD and considered a psycho, he only wants Gianna- and I looooved that so much. Gahhh! I loved this book more than book 1! I also enjoyed seeing Nico and Elena from book 1 make appearances ❤️🥰. Seeing them get married was an added bonus ❤️. ⚠️safety squad⚠️ -violence/bloodshed -no cheating between MCs -h gets hit by first hubby -h was abused as a child/teen by family friend -years before h and H are together, h slept with OM (her stepson) -after the H and h get physically involved (he goes down on her only) she gets married and three years pass. She remains celibate since her husband is so old and never sleeps with him- but I’m unsure if the H is celibate (with the way he’s obsessed over her, I think he is) -he’s with OW at events- but he’s never slept with her

Definitely Better Than The First Book
Prch Amz August 14, 2021 4.25 Stars. This one is definitely better than the first book in the series. Christian and Gianna were great characters to read about. I thoroughly enjoyed their story. Quite a few surprises where Christian is concerned. Gianna gave me quite a few chuckles. Both has some heartbreaking moments. Some of their interactions made me laugh out loud. And Lord have MERCY the steamy sex scenes between these two could set an Igloo on FIRE! What kept this from being a full 5 Stars is the author seems to really live to drag things out. From about chapter 25 or so and on to the ending things just pretty much went no where for no reason. Most of what happened in those chapters should have happened a lot faster without all the unnecessary angst. This made these areas feel a bit repetitive and bogged down. Not all of what was in the last 11 or so chapters were that way. Some of it was really good. But it made you feel like the author was stretching things out just for page count. All said and done, I really did enjoy it and I'm definitely going to read the next in this series. Keeping my fingers crossed it will be at least as good as this one.

Perfect for each other book, read this asap
This was a really good book. Gianna & Christian are so perfect for each other. I literally cried at the pool scene of him opening up. The ending was so perfect for them too. I would reread this for sure.

This book is absolute perfection!
“𝗗𝗶𝗱 𝘀𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝘃𝗶𝘃𝗲?” 𝗛𝗶𝘀 𝗴𝗮𝘇𝗲 𝗳𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗲. 𝗗𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗸𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗼𝗻 𝗺𝘆 𝗯𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗼𝗺 𝗹𝗶𝗽. 𝗛𝗶𝘀 𝗲𝘆𝗲𝘀 𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗱, 𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗷𝗮𝘄 𝘁𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗱, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘆. “𝗦𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝗱.” You ever read a book and then immediately afterwards you reread the whole thing just because it was THAT good? This is that book for me. I have reread The Maddest Obsession countless times and I seriously feel like every time is a completely new experience. Danielle Lori’s writing style is spectacular and being able to get inside Christian and Gianna’s heads was a true gift. I honestly felt like the words were flowing from the pages and it was absolutely perfect. Now enough of that, let’s get into the book - I really enjoyed how Danielle set up the timeline in the beginning and felt the flow was just perfect since she didn’t drag out each year of Gianna’s life until we got to the present. “𝗦𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝘀𝗼 𝗴𝗼𝗱𝗱𝗮𝗺𝗻 𝗯𝗲𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗜 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱𝗻’𝘁 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗮𝘁 𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲𝘀.” Gianna Marino is one of the strongest, most brave, kind-hearted and goofiest characters I’ve ever read and I loved her more than words. Her strength was so inspiring and watching her overcome addictions, a scarred and abusive past, domestic abuse and literally brave through all her battles with a smile and the highest heels on her feet just made my heart swell and love her that much more. “𝗜’𝗱 𝗳𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘀𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝗼 𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱𝗻’𝘁 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗼𝘂𝗰𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆.” Christian Allister.. woah. I literally have no words to describe this man. He is one of the hottest, most well-written and intricate male characters ever. His power and alpha male aura was everything to me. His obsession with Gianna was so hot to me and the way he was such a perfectionist about everything.. yet he loved a girl who was so messy and wild it should’ve driven him crazy, and still — he loved even that about her, ah. Agent Allister honestly owns my heart and it sucks that he isn’t real because wow.. just wow. No words can describe his level of perfect. “𝗚𝗼𝗱, 𝗜 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂,” 𝗜 𝗯𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵. “𝗦𝗮𝘆 𝗶𝘁 𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻.” “𝗜 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘀𝗼 𝗯𝗮𝗱𝗹𝘆.” “𝗪𝗵𝘆?” 𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝘀𝗸𝗲𝗱, 𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘃𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗵𝗼𝗮𝗿𝘀𝗲. “𝗕𝗲𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 . . .” 𝗜 𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗲𝗱, 𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗹𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝘆 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗲𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗽𝗲. “𝗕𝗲𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗶𝘁’𝘀 𝗮𝗹𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂.” Together Christian and Gianna were just next level amazing. The fact they’re such an odd pair but still are absolutely perfect for each other is the best thing ever. I loved how even when Gianna was married to other men, Christian kept an eye out for her and was always ready to swoop in regardless of how that’d break his perfectionist patterns. The little moments that they stole while she was still married just completely took over my heart. I’ll never get over this book, gahhh it is just so perfect.
