Sound Oasis S-100 White Noise Machine

I have neighbors with dogs. For a time I tried to get some 'peace and quiet' but it was just not happening. Having been a psychotherapist and having some familiarity with white noise devices I looked around for something to mask the noise. I was not looking for something to listen to such as relaxation sounds. Relaxing sounds are nice but they have 'loops' or fail to maintain a consistent level of sound, which is necessary to do the masking. None of the sounds they generate such as the rain or chimes is something I want to listen to all day. I wanted something that could run 24/7 that would blend into my daily life and provide a 'screen' between me and the sounds. I already had one with a physical fan in it I have owned for about 20 yrs so I knew what these guys are capable of doing. I also wanted one that had a footprint small enough to fit on my window sill. These do the trick nicely. They have an on/off switch, 10 types/levels of 'noise'. They probably run a range covering white, pink and brown. They have a timer and a volume. Mine run all the time. I have acclimated to them and rarely even notice them. Even when I hear the dogs now the 'noise' is such it takes the edge off the barking and things are much more manageable. I bought 4 of these and they all work fine. I first saw these at Sharper Image. With them you buy one and get the other at half price. After doing the math it was more cost effective to purchase from Amazon. Plus they have great customer care,

I bought this machine to drown out noise from low-flying aircraft. They recently changed the runway patterns at O'Hare airport in Chicago. Our previously quiet neighborhood has turned into a living hell, with low-flying planes coming in every 30 seconds for approximately 20 hours a day. I was not getting any sleep and extremely crabby at work when one of my colleagues recommended getting a white noise machine. I went online and checked them out. I chose this one because it has 10 different white noise sounds at different pitches, so you can select the one that best fits your needs. You can also hear the sounds on their Web site, which was a big help, so you can decide if you like them or not. This model has a volume control, so you can make it as loud as you need. It's small and compact, so it fits on my window sill, near my bed. I put it at a low pitch, crank it up all the way, and it drowns out the planes enough so I don't wake up every few minutes during the night. I have very good hearing, and I can still faintly hear the planes, but not enough that I can't get to sleep and stay asleep. I have tried earphones with "soothing sounds" such as rain falling, ocean waves, etc., and that does not help. I've also tried earplugs, but they are uncomfortable and sometimes fall out. This has worked the best. If you need to drown out plane noise, street noise, etc., I would highly recommend this little guy. I kept the box for this speaker and it travels with me everywhere. Very small so it does not take a ton of room in your luggage. It has different "types" of white noise as well as it gets pretty loud.

I have bought three of these now, so that I have one in our home, trailer and mountain home. The best I have found and really helps us sleep at night.

Really like the white noise produced by this particular unit, good volume, sufficient range of frequency options. Only issue is it's a little fragile and may not survive a fall from waist high to a hard floor. that happened and i bought another one.

This machine works great for my baby's room. It's a little fragile; I dropped the first one I received on the carpet and it not longer worked, but I called the manufacturer and they sent me a new one free of charge. It can get as loud or quiet as you like and there are several different white noise options.

Works like a charm. Purchased for my mother who has bad tinnitus. Ever since we started using it she has not had any sleep disturbances and sleeps through the night. The unit is easy to set up and the controls are very easy to understand. Being able to change the frequency of the white noise is great. Recommended.

I ordered this knowing it only had the "white noise" type of static sounds as that is what I was looking for. I have had a sleepmate forever and I was hoping to get something similar, but smaller and with volume control (sleepmate only has high/low). The different sounds are really just different frequencies of the same noise. For all of these reasons I liked it very much. Easy to travel with too. HOWEVER, I only had it a couple of weeks and was able to take it on one trip before it broke. As stated in another review, the adapter plug in the back of the unit broke (mine fell internally into the speaker), rendering it unusable. I am bummed because I actually really liked it. Well what can you say about a product that makes a noise like an old radio being tuned in. It's more annoying than tinnitus!

Misleading description. The 10 different noises are pretty much the same. Just static, annoying noise. Also there is no option to return so in conclusion this was a waste of money. Really wish i read reviews before i bought.

appareil ne fonctionne pas . il faut le retourner avec tous les emballages que je n'ai pas conservés en totalité. Donc si je ne rends pas tous ces emballages, je ne serai pas remboursée ! en plus , colis à déposer dans une ville différente de mon lieu de travail, sans me demander si cela m'arrange !
