Excellent Value
When encountering this keyboard/mouse set for the first time, the first thing that will strike you is the high quality of the finish of the materials Logitech chose to use.The black portions of the keyboard are finished in a matte, rubberized material that's very comfortable to the touch (as opposed to the hard plastic found on many other keyboards). The keystrokes are nearly silent (a sign of good dampening) while not offering _too_ much resistence. I do think they could have tweaked it a bit to require just a tad less pressure to depress the keys. The spacing of the keys is excellent, the markings for the FN functions are clearly defined in a high contrast orange color. The auxiliary buttons on the side of the keyboard all have a very high quality, high end feel to them in their actions and finish and very, very good tactile response. The software is also excellent. It detected that it was being installed on a laptop with a touchpad and it was designed such that if it detects the touchpad, it will disable the keyboard/mouse settings when the USB receiver is not plugged in (thus retaining the touchpad's software functionality). The software makes it VERY easy to program the extra keys for custom purposes, which is incredibly handy as it allows you to launch any program or automate any keysequence with a single key press...very nice. The laser mouse is great as it will work on some surfaces that IR mice won't. It's also well weighted and has a good feel in the hand (and also ambidextrous as well). My only complaint is that in designing it for left and right handed use, Logitech had to put the forward/back buttons on the _top_ of the mouse. Bummer. It makes it kind of awkward to reach them (as opposed to having them by the thumb). I also think that it could have used a few more buttons on the mouse. That would have made the software even more useful.A quick note on battery consumption: while I've only had this set for a week, from past experience with various manufacturers of wireless keyboard/mice, battery consumption is really not an issue. I know many shoppers are hesitant to buy wireless sets due to having to deal with batteries, but I assure you that it's a rare day that you'll have to change the batteries on these things. I use my keyboards for hours a day and the mouse batteries tend to last for ~6 months and the keyboard battery typically lasts from anywhere between 9-12+ months. (Oh and the box comes with all of the batteries you will need to start using it out of the box).Overall, a high quality product for most users. I would recmmend this set to anyone looking for a good deal on a wireless combo; however, power users may want to pick up a keyboard and a Logitech MX Revolution Laser Mouse separately.

Amazing value
For $49.99 (after $10 rebate) at Amazon, this combination wireless keyboard-mouse is a gem! I have been using it for a few days now, and love it.First, installation on my Vista machine was a breeze. So much so that I initially did not believe the instructions: insert batteries (provided by the way), plug the receiver, that's it? Well, that is it! I guess the drivers are already in Vista.Interestingly enough, I never had to use the 'connect' buttons under the keyboard and mouse, I don't know what they're for. For me, it's just plug-and-play. No delay whatsoever.Coverage is very good, over a large room (at least 15 feet) in plain line of sight of the receiver. It's very conceivable to use the set in a conference room or training room environment for presentations. The keyboard is nice and compact, mostly due to the rearrangement of the 'middle keys' (Delete, Home, End, Page up, down). Insert was moved to the top function row. No big deal. It's lacking LED's (Caps, Num, Scroll locks), probably to save space, battery life and cost. That's not an issue with me, I never looked at these LED's anyway. When you press any of the 'lock' keys, a message will display on the screen, useful for touch-typists who never look at the keyboard. They key feel is excellent, soft, I never missed a key for not pushing the keycap down enough.I noticed the key lettering was on the small size. It's a nice font, but for people who are not touch typists and a bit eye-blind, reading the letters might be a bit difficult. Contrast is excellent though. Many functions keys are programmable using the software provided (installing the software is optional). The mouse is nice and relatively small. I see these huge mice in the store aisles and always wonder who buys them! It fits my hand perfectly. It has very smooth tracking and "sticks nicely to the road" thanks to its weight (batteries!). The additional buttons (back, forward and scroll left, scroll right) are very useful when using a Web browser. The power on/off button under the mouse is a nice addition, I wish the keyboard had one too. But maybe the keyboard does not draw much power anyway.Considering how much you'd normally pay for a half-decent keyboard and mouse, this wireless combo by Logitech is a steal. Go for it!

Frustrating, Inconsistent, Keyboard Lag
The frustrating part of this product is that when it works, it is not a bad product. It's when the connection issues start up that it becomes incredibly irritating. I have used this keyboard for over a year with only keyboard lag as the only problem, which in itself is minor. I had also used it on my Wii, Xbox 360 successfully. However, for the past year or so, the keyboard and mouse simply do not connect with any consistency. More often than not, the keyboard and receiver simply do not connect to one another. When it does connect, typing is impossible: the shuffle key is "t" for some reason and "q" key is "r". I simply hate this product now, which is a shame, because I use other Logitech products for years with great confidence, such as the Harmony remotes and webcams.I don't think there is a warranty on this product for the LX 710, but I do not think I will be buying another Logitech wireless keyboard or mouse for a very long time.
