2020 Review - Just what I needed
I've written off small gasoline engines. They're dirty, pollute, noisy, and they always end up giving me trouble. I bought this 10 ton electric splitter. It was the most power I could find in an electric splitter. And it has stood up well. I've been splitting 18+ inch rounds of spruce with ease.I've only had the circuit breaker back a the pumphouse pop twice because I overdrove through something it's really not designed to handle. I learned my lesson. When the splitting wedge won't move anymore, back it out and try another angle.Mine came fully loaded with the hydraulic oil. The container it's shipped in is a cardboard box with a specially assembled angle iron frame all the way around it. Fork lift rungs on the bottom. It's heavy. I don't have a fork lift. The delivery guy and I managed to shift it from his truck lift gate into my pickup. Truck/trailer rigs can't usually make it up my road to my house. And I managed to slide and balance and leverage it out of the truck onto the ground without dropping it. I did manage to give myself a small knot on the head, but that what I get for trying to do a two man job by myself. Safety first. My only complaint is that it is really heavy to move around, even with the wheels. And the wheelbase could be just a little bit wider. It can be a bit tippy with a high center of gravity and a narrow wheelbase. But overall, a great machine. We have lots of trees on our 5 acres here in Oregon and I see firewood forever as long as I can work it. Now I need to start figuring out the best electric chainsaw. That little 2-cycle Husquvarna is a workhorse, but I really want to move away from gasoline engines.

Quality not as hoped for.
First the Log trays are completely different from those shown in the assembly instructions. They are pre-assembled, which was nice, but unfortunately the holes are at a slight angle on the trays so the bottom holes do not line up with the holes on the splitter. You need to stand them on the garage floor and smack them a few times with a rubber mallet to get then to line up. More importantly, the dipstick with breather cap provided for the hydraulic oil is too long to seat in the hole. It bottoms out in the hole before the cap even touches the splitter. I have tried to phone their 800 service number but the call volume is so high, (with complaints I presume), that you cannot get through. I have emailed them twice, with no response.

Better than I expected for an electric log splitter
This thing works really well. And it aves time by letting me split on either end of the splitter blade, reducing the need to wait for the blade to retract back to the starting point.Only drawbacks:- it's heavy. You're not going to want to move this around especially up and down inclines or steps. It has wheels, but it is still a bear to move.- the shipping company did a little damage to it with their fork life, and were jerks when I asked if I could open it and see if the box damage had impacted the unit (it had).

Looks like its well constructed but be aware this thing is heavy.
I put this together by myself, but it was very difficult. You really need a helper. It is powerful, but louder than I expected being that it is electric. I tested it by throwing knots and bigger pieces than recommended and it tore everything up. Under certain circumstances wood may "fly" so wear goggles when working it. If you're not running a fire wood business but just trying to keep your family warm I don't think you can do better for the money. I recommend.UPDATE:7/6/23 I have been generally happy with this unit. However, it recently stopped working. Appears to be the motor. I spoke with customer service and the guy was very pleasant. I was to do a bit more troubleshooting and call them back this week 7/5/23. This was just before the 4th holiday weekend. I called and spoke to the same guy yesterday. It was concluded that the motor needed to be replace. Before them shipping out a motor they wanted me to email them a copy of the receipt, my shipping address and a picture of the log splitter. I thought this strange because the receipt has all this information in it. But what is pssng me off now is that 48 hours later I haven't received an email with a tracking number or even an acknowledgement/status of case. I am here fore due to their lack of communication I'm dropping this review rom 4 stars to 2 stars. I'll revise my review if and when I hear from them. Right now I'm very disappointed.

Impressed up to this point.
Based on the reviews from woodsplittersdirect.com, I decided to go with the Boss ED10T20. Ordered on a Sunday. Delivered on Friday. Instructions on assembly are poor (thus the 4 stars). Split a cord on Saturday and it's working quite well. I'll update and provide a more detailed review in a couple of weeks.
