Sega Classics Remastered
This will bring back some pleasant arcade or console memories. This collection of some of Sega's finest includes classics like Outrun, Space Harrier, Virtua Racing, Monaco GP, Tant R, Columns(Tetris?), Fantasy Zone, Bonanza Bros., Alien Syndrome(excellent!), and my personal favorite of this group, Golden Axe. This Sega collection has been remastered with enhanced graphics and sound(s) to relive these games in a newer way!

You can't go wrong with classic
needless to say. These games are all classic, the one I paid the most attention is the Golden Axe PS version, it has orchestral remake music, which is one of the best OST I've heard from the YouTube, two words: goosebumps & blood-pumping

Only Two Are Original Classics...
With the exception of Virtua Racing and Columns, these are all "remastered" editions of the listed Sega arcade classics. I'm giving 3 stars because I absolutley love Virtua Racing; it was the only reason for me to purchase this collection. V.R. is nearly a perfect translation. In fact, they have gone a step further by incorporating some anti-aliasing and realtime lighting...the result is astonishing (be sure to check out the photos I uploaded!). The only downfall is that the controls are a little touchy and the driver animation is inaccurate while playing in first person mode (the on-screen steering wheel barely turns at full steer). Otherwise, this is very close to the original arcade, Yu Suzuki classic. If you're not into V.R. however, pass this up. Hopefully Sega will soon wise up and "open their vault" of arcade classics. It amazes me that they have not done so in light of the success of classic compilations from Midway, Capcom, etc. Come on, Sega! Edit 03/04/2008: I decided to give Alien Syndrome another try since I had a second player to play it with. This game is considerably more fun to play with a second player than playing alone. The controls are very similar to Smash TV and Robotron; both analog sticks are utilized. My only complaint is that you can only shoot in eight directions despite using the analog stick. This collection is now a good buy at under $10.00 along with both Alien Syndrome and Virtua Racing.

Out Run !
Fast shipping, product works, well Out Run at least. Disc smudged and some small scratches near the edge. Wiped smudges off on my cotton shirt. PS2 Sega arcade memories abound!

I'm a nut for Daytona USA, and seeing as how there is barely a home console version of it, I thought maybe Sega VR racing might have been a simmilar game? In some ways, it looks a bit like it, but it's FAR from it behind the wheel. I found the cars controls to not be perfected and there is no sense of speed when playing, so it wasn't looking good the rest of the games on this disc after that game. Next up was Outrun... it used to be a cool arcade game, I guess you need the wheel and stick to appreciate it? No, wait, I have that game on MAME, so why is it not fun on this version? Probably because it seems harder, now you have to drive flawlessly to make it to the end. Thumbs down. Monaco GP - what an annoying birds eye view racing game, the second you pick up any speed you crash into another car or wall, who the heck designed the controls of this??? Two thumbs down. Columns... as a PS2 game? Really? If it was played with a mouse or touch screen then this would be OK, but it's a half arsed watered down version of BeJeweled and not even half the fun. I don't care which game came first, the one here is a terrible idea to be playing with a controller. Golden Axe - Something tells me this is not the original arcade, in fact, I don't think any of the games on here are the original arcade versions. I remember this game being fun and easy, where as this one it seemed like collisions weren't colliding or certain moves couldn't be defended... it looked ok graphics wise, but it has become just another button masher. Tant R - Never heard of this before. It's like a bunch of mini games you play, you have to complete 4 or 5 mini games to catch a bad guy. Seems logical. The games range from something a 2 year old could do, to something your grandmother might play. It was interesting for a few minutes, but grew very repetitive and boring quickly. By this time I turned the thing off and am done with, I can't image the other two games on here would save the overall rating. Outrun ** Golden Axe *** VR ** Monaco ** B.Bros *** Columns ** space Harrier Fantasy Zone Alien Syndrome Tant R/B.Bros Only buy it if you loved the original game and just must have it on PS2, even if it's a remastered/remade version.

9 out of 10 ain't bad...
Most of the games are great. However, Golden Axe is a horrendous joke that spits in the eye of the original classic.
