My favorite of the foot files
First some background. I'm 35 and have always had feet prone to calluses and cracking, especially in sandals and flip flops. I get calluses even when I wear soft slippers or tennis shoes. I used this file living in Arizona (hot, dry, always in sandals), MN (cold, humid summers, dry winters) and Missouri. I've tried many kinds over the years- the automatic files, the egg files, the microplane type, the razor (blades) type, and the flat 2 sided types. I've tried every callus cream and lotion ever made. I wanted a file that would make my feet smooth without a lot of fuss. I don't like applying lotion or spending a lot of time on my feet. But, I still want them to be pain free and look decent in sandals. I've been using this one for at least 10 years now. I think I bought my first one at Walgreens. This is my favorite for a few reasons:It is easy to hold onto instead of being short handled, small, or really flat.It lasts years. The only reason I replaced mine is because my kids dropped it on the tile floor and it cracked. It still worked though. It doesn't take any more skin off then you want. Some of the metal types or automated ones dig too deep to easily. It takes skin off evenly and smoothly, but never seems to dull.It works quickly and your feet look better in one use. If you let your feet go too long, use it dry in a tub rough side first, then softer side. Then follow up with washing your feet. If you use a moisturizer (no fancy stuff needed) overnight, your feet will look awesome in days. I usually use it in the shower as part of my routine. My only gripes. If dropped on tile, it may get a crack. Also, It discolors over time (which doesn't affect its function) and there may be a way to clean it. I;ve never cared enough to look into it. I hope that this review helps someone out there who doesn't care to buy and try a ton of products.

Don't know how, but hoo-boy, does this thing work!!
Although it's not immediately evident WHY this callus remover works so much better than anything you will ever have bought anywhere, what I can tell you is that IT WORKS. I don't have excessively dry, or cracked feet, but the skin on my heels and the soles of my feet does get dried out and not exactly touchable through the summer months. And no one wants to go to bed in the summer with socks on to keep their feet nice and moisturized after a summer pedi. After stumbling across a mention of this product somewhere else on Amazon (sorry, but I cannot remember where) I decided to give it a try.You use if after you shower or bathe, and it will be more effective if you can use it consistently for 7-10 days in a row. Use the rougher side first to file down any dead skin and roughness on your feet, and then the smooth side to smooth and soften. I found that after using it for just shy of a month (first 10 days every day, then every couple or few days thereafter), my feet are staying so smooth, I really can't believe it. Now I use it just a couple of times a week and my feet look amazing. You can use the smooth side to do the sides of your toes and in between, if you have issues there. Be careful not to scrub this delicate skin too hard.It is definitely heavier than any other cheapo callus remover I have gotten anywhere, but well weighted, and feels good in the hand. It's easy to use and your hand doesn't tire on the grip, or handle. Some other reviews have noted that it gets dirty. Well, yes, if you are scrubbing away the dirty bottoms of your feet, then the dirt and dead skin end up on this remover. However, there is an incredibly easy fix, which I can't believe they aren't getting. Simply rinse the callus stone under the faucet when you are done, and most of the gunk will be gone. Any leftovers grubbyness can be washed away by using an old toothbrush, preferably one with nylon bristles (instead of rubber) and a bit of hand soap. A light scrubbing will remove any dirt and your callus stone will look lovely for as long as you own it.

cracked after one use, but easily fixed and I still like it
I only have this product four stars because the plastic at the tip of the stone cracked after one use. It was an easy fix with glue, but for such an expensive item it shouldn't have happened at all. Otherwise it works great and is easy to use. My feet look much better now and feel way softer. I like that the stone is slightly raised so that it can get the crease between my pinky toe and foot, where the callus builds up pretty bad. I also like that I can scrub my feet with something that has a handle, unlike the previous ceramic callus stone I had it. I think the ceramic works better than the traditional stone pumice and lasts longer too.

Seems good. Have only used it once
Seems good. Have only used it once. A little pricey, but if it works, it will be worth it.

It's alright.
I don't think it performs well enough to cost 20 dollars. The results seem about the same as a 2 dollar stone. I do like the handle.

The only thing that's worked so far
I'm a runner (including doing the whole barefoot running fad for a bit...don't do it, btw) and have some bad calluses on my feet. I've found reviews of foot scrubs online that say that "natural" pumice stones work great on hard calluses. but I'm pretty sure my feet are the ones that are scrubbing the pumice stone. This thing, on the other hand (other foot?!) works great. Within a week, it had annihilated years of hardened skin and my feet were noticeable smoother. The size of the scrub is appropriate and is easy to hold and use. The handle, while plastic, feels solid and sturdy. $20 is fairly steep for a foot scrub, but after wasting my money other useless stones, this one did the trick and I'm really happy with it.
