These shoes fit, are comfortable, look decent, and last through tough use. My first pair traipsed through Myanmar, Germany, Slovenia, and countless places in the US. It's time to replace them, and I'll stay with these excellent shoes.UPDATE: The first pair was everything I said in the first review. They lasted beautifully with a lot of hard work. So I purchased a second pair. Almost immediately portions of the bottom layer of the sole separated from the adjoining layer. I tried to glue the layers together, but it doesn't work. Also, what may seem like a small issue, is that the tips of the laces came apart very quickly. With these issues in mind, I dropped the score to 3 stars. It is too late to do a warranty claim. I will just have to be disappointed and look for a different shoe next time.

I waited till I had used these shoes for several months before reviewing them. I wanted to be sure of the comfort level, or lack of, before I said anything. I can happily report that from day one, they have been one of the most comfortable pair of shoes I've ever owned. The only bad thing is one of the holes for the laces at the top of the shoes broke the first day. However there are two holes for the last level before tying the laces and I did get these for half price. As a result I feel that one minor flaw, which doesn't impede the comfort or use of the shoes, isn't worth worrying over. The five star rating is solely based on how comfortable these shoes are.

They fit OK and shed water and dust amazingly well. But the right shoe was defective because the toe grip peeled almost completely off in the first 30 seconds of use. Also, they felt very uncomfortable to use, at first, and made me feel awkward and off balance. I couldn't identify the cause until I eventually removed the inserts. The left shoe proved defective because beneath the padded insert were TWO thinner inserts. The right shoe contained only one insert. This caused me to be off balance. Overall I'd say Apex has poor quality control despite a pretty good shoe design. I purchased these six months ago so it's possible their QC people improved their methods.

The shoes got wet with sea water and they smell horrible. I washed them with tap water but smell stays... it's kind of unexpected surprise.

According to Amazon's description, their insoles are supposed to be orthotic and customizable, but mine came with just some garden variety insoles with Apex logo rather than Aetrex. So, I had to purchase a pair of Lynco orthotic insoles before I felt comfortable enough for long walks. The shoes seem to be adequately constructed but, after all, they seem to be rather overpriced for around $120, without the additional orthotic insoles I had to purchase.

I loved the look of my Apexes! They fit well too. I have been complimented on my icky kicks!

I have had same shoe twice and was surprised that it caused issue with foot due to size (rubbing on knuckle by big toe)

The correct sized shoe makes a world of difference. I originally got a pair of these shoes from an orthotics company. it's so hard to find the right sized shoe that will accommodate an orthotic insert. This shoe fills the bill.
