OnePlus 3 (Graphite, 64 GB)

Couldn't be happier with this phone!! I was visiting India on June 15th when this phone was released... I decided to buy this phone for myself, even when I was using another great phone (nexus 5x), and then I was wonder... am I doing something right... or wrong? cause the nexus 5x is an awesome phone.... it was a quick visit to India.. and I live literally in other side of the world.. hehehe Last time I felt so pleased with a phone was with my first nexus (made by htc...several years ago..)... I'm a computer engineer, so I'll try to focus my review from an engineer point of view: I'm going to split this review in to parts.. who should NEVER EVER get this phone, and how must get one :D, explaining pros and cons on each. 1. Who should NEVER get this phone: - People who likes brand, DO NOT GET THIS PHONE!, this is not a phone recognized by brand, like apple, samsung, etc, is not even at the "famous" level of sony or lg, must of the people will ask you where you get it or will come up with some like: what kind of brand is that?... so if you like to be recognized by the phone you carrying then.. this is NOT YOUR PHONE! at least in America, few (very few and particular people) will recognized the phone. - People who likes expensive stuff, yes... you should NOT get this phone, why? cause people who cares for phone's price usually doesn't care about features, best feature is the price, cause the features doesn't matter when "everybody looks at you" when you hold your phone... - If you don't like scene, this phone is not for you!! - People who needs to change a phone every year.. this phone is NOT for you, it is meant to last for 3 years at least. Now... people who must buy this phone... - me.. hahaha, well.. I love it, it is really good :) - people who likes scene, this phone was made with that in mind - people who doesn't care about brand - people with regular eyes... hahaha I don't get why people complains about the resolution on this phone? you need more than fhd? really??? - We got the top cpu, with top memory (speed and size) on a nice looking phone... what else u want? - If you want the current top performance phone.. this phone is for you! - People who likes hard features than soft features: * hard: SO, CPU, memory, good audio, good camera and good screen * soft: water resistance, curve screen (what for?? don't get it) - If you don't care about the price.. stupid.. I know.. but it is truth.. people cares if you pay more for a phone.. cause if you pay less.. then you wonder if the product is good or not... Overall: - Excellent features! again... cpu, mem, camera, etc - Outstanding scene.. even today there's a lot of new goodies for oneplusone.. - cheap... (plus or a minus?) - looks awesome in your hand... if you care about it :) - OS could be better. yes.. but what's the scene is for? - very personal opinion: DAC on this phone is AWESOME! I love to music listening.. (audiophile), audio in this phone with a good pair of headphones (I got a sennheiser momentum)... short version.. this phone was made by freaks for freaks... Go ahead! you will not regret!

I was planning to buy a new phone in Rs. 20,000 budget. But there wasnt even a single phone which could convince me completely. Although the iphone 5s 16 gb price dropped to 17k at some point, but I with everyone around me roaming with jus an "iphone" with less features compared to few androids, I wasnt ready to go for it. Then i saw a friend of mine using oneplus 2. Frankly speaking I was impressed by the phone except the design. I felt it was more like a brick. And I always had a thing for slim bodies, let it be phone,laptop or anything else. Then i saw online leaked images and features of one plus 3. I came to know it will cost around 28k. So I waited for 2 more months and save dmore money. Becuase I dnt want to feel that I wasted my money at any point. In total, I did research for 4 months to choose a phone and then waited two more months until the launch of one plus 3. Now after using Oneplus3 for more than 2 months below mentioned are the pros and cons I could comeup with. Pros: 1. Design: I just love it. The slim body and the built quality. Its just complete class. 2. The 6 gb ram. The wow factor about this phone was the 6gb ram. Although one plus admits that the phone doesnt completely use the 6 gb ram(to save battery life), but they kept it as a backup so that the phone never gets slow. And trust me it never gets slow or hangs. Play any game you want, let it be nova3, or asphalt or injustice....it never hangs. Everything moves smoothly with a gentle swipe or touch. A friend of mine who uses iphone quoted "yeh phone makkhan jaisa smooth hain" and regreted taht he went for an iphone instead of oneplus3 just for the brand name. 3. Camera: At this price range, It provides a very good camera. Maybe not like an iphone. But of course better than its competitors. The camera interface also provides you an option for manual camera mode which is awsm if you van use it. 4. Battery: Although I saw few reviews regarding the bad battery life of the phone, but I dont agree with those. Please do not put your phone on charge and go to sleep. That is how you damage the battery life of your phone. I am a moderate to heavy user of the phone. 3G remains on all the time except when i connect my phone to wifi. I have hell lot of apps running on my phone. Along with that almost for 2 hrs i play heavy games on the phone every day. And this is how I charge my phoe every day. I jus charge my phone every morning for 40 mins after waking up. Yes The phone gets charged to 100% in just 40-45 mins. Thanks to the dash charger. And I charge my phone only once a day. And that is why I say it is a good enough battrery. 5. There are few customised gestures in the phone like switching on the camera, flash light and playing music with jus making few patters like "o", "v" and and a gentle swipe with two fingers on the lock screen. Trust me its cool and helpful. 6. The finger print sensor is very fast and accurate. 7. With the phone they give you a free screen guard already attached to the phone. Please do not take it off. It is a really good screen guard and will work for good. Cons: 1. The camera bump. Sometimes I do feel afraid what if i put the phone too hard on the table and the camera cracks. But dont worry that is just my fear coz i love this phone too much. The camera is surrounded by a metallic fence kind of shape which protect the glass of the camera. Anyway to be on the safer side, you can buy a back case which wil level the back of the phone and the camera. I will recommend you to go for the transparent glass case. It looks good on the phone. 2. They do not give a head set with this phone. But I understand their logic. They do not want to give a cheap ear phone with this flagship killer. And if they add a good headset, then they have to increase the price, whic they do not want. YES I FOUND ONLY THESE SHORTAGES IN THS PHONE which I mentioned above. Remaining, there were few small issues which one plus 3 fixed very fast. They regularly keep sending you updates to fix the issues which you face and inform them. That is what i love the best about this growing company. So my final verdict will be- if you can afford a phone between 25-30k range, you should definitely go for this flagship killer. It got everything you want. And I am damn sure this is going to be the Best phone of this year. Go for it.

Being an Android user for the last 6 years and a Samsung one for the last 4, I had awoved not to use Samsung again, ever. Reasons being quick performance degrade and obscenely expensive. With this in mind, I was skimming the cell phones market, but none of the phones piqued my interest. Some were cheap, some not strong enough etc etc. Then I came across the release of OnePlus 3, and went for it (against my wife’s wishes, who wanted me to buy the enormously expensive iPhone 6S). I am not going to repeat what all other reviewers have said. Yes, the phone is very good (used it for 5 days). The real test lies in the time it takes to show me performance degradation. I have loaded it with my requirements, I don’t see any visible degradation, except for a couple of times the whatsapp media viewer hanged on me for a few seconds. Some points I noted during its use are listed below for what they are worth: - Display: There has been a lot of criticism of its display. Let me tell you that to an average, non-technical, user, the display id extremely good. My wife’s iphone struggles in comparison. The only issue (if I can call it that) is that the screen seems to be glossy and at times reflect your face on it while working. But still not at deterrent levels. - U/I: UI is pretty much stick android, devoid of nearly all bloatware. However, I miss the ability (from my Samsung) to change notification sound separate from the ringer sound. It gets really annoying for me at office where I want the ringer to be louder than my notifications for whatsapp or other messages. - Battery: I read a lot of criticism and apprehension on the battery front. Again, I am a mid to heavy user, and the 3000 MaH battery so far lasts me more than 15hrs (most of my waking hours). I do a lot of office emails, online browsing, whatsapp, Twitter etc, but no gaming, though my daughter does play games on ot too. I don’t need to carry a charger or a power bank with me. But, will it last? I don’t know. However, it is much better than what my Samsung S5 and S6 was when I bought them new. - Vibrator: The vibrator on the phone is very feeble and I have already missed a couple of calls as I did not feel the phone vibrate in my pocket. There is no way to make the vibrations stronger like in Samsung. I am sure that I will get used to the feeble vibrations too. The vibrations stopped working in my Samsung after one year anyways. - I cannot but resisit to mention (as many have already) that the finger print reader just kills all the competition. It is just amazing and very handy while driving (though I don’t use the phone much when driving) In summary, do I like the phone? Hell yes. I paid a little more than what I wanted to spend, but still at half the price of an iPhone 6s or Samsung S7 Edge. I can get used to the little chinks I identified above and hope that they may be fixed in the future Oxygen release. However, I will duck a star due to these. The only thing that worries me is performance degradation. And this, only time will tell. I am optimistic.

I always Wanted to get a Oneplus phone since its first launch. Which was The One. But I post poned Both Including the 2. Firstly I am a High-end User not a Enthusiast level Geek. I've never Owned any snapdragon device before at all! XD. Yeah I have tried many phones with snapdragons in it.Secondly I am a student,so you can say No one would buy me a phone every now and then in my family '. I Threw off my 4-5 yo Sony Xperia. Kidding XD I didn't threw it,my father took it for repair but he kept it anyways.Before the 3 I was... Considering the HONOR 8 but I went through the review and found no VoLTE?! It was a loot. Ofc. But That phone is all about the dual camera setup. Also I ain't an avid photographer neither a Enthusiast Geek. '. Plus 52GB storage Is quite Enough for me.As I don't Store many things on a phone. So Lets cut to the chase. I ordered My 3 on 18 OCT and got delivered by next day. You won't. Believe I was so excited and happy to see the delivery Guy!! ' Yeah It was but of a hassle for him to get to the address, but he called me anyways. Psssst The Citi Card I used is of someone else '.I just wanted to get the darn Cashback. HERE ME OUT PEOPLE! No one is going to be as generous as Oneplus and its team to Give you a fully functional 6 Gig of RAM At this price. NO ONE. So, As soon as I started the device I was completely Blown away! So FAST! VERY Beautiful and swift. Much COOL. WOW! Also Adding the Slim and gorgeous Body.. Ooh Yeah! That Sleek soft Gold is really eye catching. Now talking about My everyday usage..I Have been Using this phone for 20 days.. 'Only for Whatsapp! '' TBH I have tried everything Including High graphics Games Like Implosion and Modern Combat 5.Occasionally I have more than 15 Apps on background! It Handles em all without Breakn' a Sweat!! Guess what, I Put my Laptop aside... Heck I don't even use It for except some CADr. '. This Phone Is simply Beautiful, Dumping my colleague,'s S7. The design as well. It's really Light weight. Sometimes you won't be able feel like you are holding the phone. '. At first I was quite annoyed with the screen size as its 5.5" inches! But here is the thing, my hand is big enough to handle the phone comfortably! The Only Con I faced so far is the Speed!! Its sometimes really FAST! Like The Flash'!! Yes Including the DASH Charging! '''.XD XD XD XD Final Words: If you Have a Pile of cash Lying around go for the S7 edge or the Note7. '''I mean iPhone 6S plus. Or the iPhone 7 without a Headphone Jack'. OR If you are smart and want Something like the "Flagships" Go for the Oneplus 3 Or The HONOR 8 despite having no VoLTE. Or There are cheaper options with The Snapdragon 820 1 Xiaomi Mi5 2 Lenovo Z2 Plus. Now the Mid range : 3 Moto Z Play 4 Xiaomi Redmi NOte 3 etc... What else Do you want in a Phone now? Make you a Pizza? It can hardly deliver it to you by calling the pizzeria of your choice. I said what I said in my way about the phone. As many don't care and value the money they spent on something. I Aint a son of some builder or a Multi Crore Businessman.I value What I have and be Grateful for what I own. I hope some reads this review fully. I am not gonna share generic pros and cons ... many reviewers have already done that to help other people out. Alright so it's been 2 weeks since I have been using this mobile. Just to give you some perspective , previous to this device I have used only flagships from LG, Samsung and Motorola. Surprisingly this phone stands tall with all of my previous phones. And it's a great bang for the buck barring my moto device which was also very well priced. I'll start off with the look and feel , coz thats the first thing we notice about any device. One plus never fails to impress , right from the box .. even before you hold your device in hand ... the packaging itself brings a premium feel. The device in itself is great too .. I quickly added a 3rd party sandstone back cover (foso cover highly recommended) coz the phone does feel a lil slippery! Maybe it's coz this is my first 5.5" device. However now that I've got used to the size ... it feels well planted in my hand. The display isnt much to boast about .. sunlight legibility is average at best, but it does the job ... the 1080p display is good for most purposes. The only time I feel it's inferiority is when I keep it next to my brothers S6 edge. I personally prefer the amoled screen over ips ... the main reason I picked this device over the mi5. The blacks are so dark and the contrast ratio is second to none. Thanks to the display the 3000mAh battery easily lasts me an entire day. And I am a moderate to heavy user !! And when it is time to charge .. dash charge is such a delight. In fact this phone has changed my charging habit ... I used to charge my phone overnight. .. but with the dash charger I really don't bother to anymore..put it on charge first thing in the morning and by the time you're ready to go to work it's a 100% charged. The UI deserves a special mention. While I missed all the features of my moto device esp moto voice .. the oxygen UI really helped in making my device an extension of my liking !! All the personalization features are well thought off. It really makes the device adapt acc to your convenience and style. The device does heat up a bit but it's not that bad and performance is never affected. Any concerns with ram management can be fixed if you root your device (tutorials are available on YouTube) however since I keep clearing unused background apps I never faced any issues with multitasking ! The fingerprint scanner is super fast but accuracy is only 90%. The lack of earphones was a major con too as I use them a lot while travelling. I did use the 3.5 mm jack with my audio-technica headphones and they drive them pretty loud. Louder than Samsung or Motorola. The gallery app is quite useless ... but none of the cons are something you can't fix If you are reading this review, then your heart is already set one this device... trust me it's worth going for .... even in the face of upcoming devices from Lenovo and mi max ... the one plus 3 is pretty future proof. Have been using the phone a little over 3 weeks now. Perhaps a bit early to comment, but will do it anyway. Just got an OS update, if it messes things up, will update the review. So far, the phone has been very good. 1. Battery: Easily lasts 1 day on full charge. I keep my 3G on through out the day. I often forget switching location services off after I turn them on for uber or something.I do not play games on my phone, I do watch videos though (downloaded or netflix or youtube). Just to give an idea of my 4G usage, I end up consuming my entire 8 gb quota every month. Just this sunday I went for a 4.5 hour cycling trip, with GPS and data on through out the time, battery went down from 99 % to start with to 52%. And it still comfortably lasted the day, perhaps because I was too tired to use much of my phone for rest of the day. Even if the battery is going down, a quick 15 minute charge gets to back to comfortable level. Phone takes a little over an hour for full charge. Somehow the last 5% takes more time than any other 5%. I have done some clever customization such as white on black for notification without waking the entire screen up, and I stop location and data before going to bed. I was afraid of not liking the battery after using lenovos for last couple of years, but although I miss vibe z2 pro or p1 turbos 2 day battery life sometimes, 1 + 3 is fairly satisfactory. 2. Customization: The Os allow some cool customization, such as animation speed, notification display for minimal battery drainage, keys customization, special customizations on double tap of screen of keys (I have set up both the left and right keys for camera on double tap so that I can start camera from any screen). Nice wallpapers, tray is good too, although I keep 8 high level folders on my home screen with my most frequent apps (workouts, google, games, shopping etc). Memo on the tray is a nice feature too. 3. Camera: The reason for my giving up vibe p1. Loved the camera of lenovo vibe z2 pro, which had quick shutter speed and pro mode. Have got those things back with this phone. Selfies are also very clear and pretty. Full points for camera. 4. Finger print sensor: Pretty good, but it is a pattern sensor, it does not care if it is finger, or paw, or potato. Works fast though, and works well. Once a pattern is input, it works at any orientation. A massive improvement over my P1. 5. Performance: Phone performance is smooth, no lag, quick response to touch, smooth transitions. Heats up a bit during charging sometimes, but nothing major. Never during watching videos. Since I do not play any heavy games (I play mahjong and hang man) so it does not bother me at all. Overall, awesome phone. Provides complete package for the price. Works as expected (no hanging, no lags, good picture quality, good video watching experience, good sound). It makes sense that this phone has less than 10 % one stars (my criteria to buy any phone).

Being a tech enthusiast, I've been following OnePlus 3 right from rumor phase since February 2016,and like many waited with bated breath for its launch. I was using a Xperia ZL before OP3, which lasted for almost 3 years and now continues to serve my mom. Reason for upgrading is poor battery life while on HSDPA and abnormal heating on the ZL, we are not talking normal heat, it was more like 49-52°C. And add to it the processor throttling which comes free of cost along. Coming to delivery of OP3, I booked it on the very first day and got it the next day here in Bengaluru, even though I've selected Standard Delivery. Top marks for Amazon here. Now coming to OP3 itself, first look itself made me fall flat, drooling over it and in hand feel is nothing out of poetry. It is so slim and comfortable, and I can totally see why OnePlus settled over a 3000 mAh juice pack. Sure, 500mAh more would be a good thing but it would have made the device more bulkier, just a shade though. Which in practical terms, you may have like 25% left after a day compared to 17-18% now. It is not an accurate number, but you guys do get the context of what I'm conveying here, right? I would gladly trade in this kind of in hand feel for that extra %. Sure it is not a great thing but lesser battery is not a blunder either. My roommate has a ZUK Z1 which now I'm feeling like holding a brick made out of metal. OP3 has spoilt me for thinness. Every concern about the battery goes out the window once you bring in Dash charger into the picture. To be honest, quick charging was never my absolute requirement and its kind of like a good to have feature, thats all. But i was blown out of water by what Dash charging actually does, I don't like speaking of numbers, yes it is fast, little more than a hour is all needed but what i really wanted to say is this, it has completely changed the way i use my device. To be more precise, charging now is never on the back of my head because i know 15 good minutes is all needed for a 40% from dead. Camera is another rocker here. Rear camera is pretty much kickass, be it any lighting and 120fps 720p Slow Motion itself is worth half of the 28k spent. Front camera is a big deal for me because i was used to the pretty much hopeless VGA of my Xperia ZL, till day i couldn't figure out why Sony opted for a VGA camera and the weird placement of it in the ZL. So whatever the OP3 offers from the front camera i must be sold on it. But my friends who are used to better front cameras have been singing praise for OP3, So that clears the air i guess. Snapdragon 820 - The primary driving factor behind my decision to go with the OP3, sure Mi5 is cheaper but i was more into 5.5' devices and 3gb RAM isn't exactly a wise decision from Xiaomi. 820 is crazy fast and given that the fixed luggage is just a 1080P, processing cycles are used more for actual processes which in turn drastically reduces loading times. 6gb RAM is more of a bragging factor, i would have taken the leap for a more practical 4gb anyways. Maybe future will hold candle against it. So what am i feeling about this, Pumped. Agreed it is not exactly an appropriate term here, but thats exactly what i feel since i got my hands on it. I considered these other decent options before opting for OP3 - Zuk Z1( buggy cyanogen) , G4 Plus (Toaster, makes my ZL feel like a breeze) , Mi 5 ( 5', 3gb RAM, MiUI) , S6 (Year old and 5'), iPhone 6 (16gb for 40k, come on Apple) , X Play (Outdated, no fingerprint sensor), Oneplus 2 ( 8-1-0), Oneplus X ( 5' and no fingerprint scanner). You guys will agree about most of my views here, there isn't a perfect phone for less than 30K. OnePlus 3 is not perfect either, but the closest thing ever to perfection and thats quite a big deal. Oneplus did it!

One of the primary selling factors of the OnePlus 3 alongside performance/camera was 'customization'. And I am not really sure about that after using the phone for 2 days now. Here are some features and customizations I miss. 1. I can't set a custom ringtone for incoming calls in a straight forward manner. 2. I can't set up different ringtones for different SIM cards. I have no way of knowing whether the call is coming in SIM 1 or SIM 2 unless I look at the screen. 3. There is no in-built FM Radio/Compass/Voice recorder. I miss the radio the most. 4. The time clock doesn't show AM/PM. And I can't even choose if I want it to be displayed. I can only pick between 12 hours and 24 hours format. I travel. So, this would be really useful for me to gain some perspective. 5. There is no inbuilt support for data speed tracking. In Lenovo K4 Note, there was a feature to display internet data speeds in the status bar. In Oneplus 3, I need to install a bloated/paid app for that. 6. There is no secure zone. In Lenovo K4 Note, I used it for multiple purposes. Not just security reasons. This really takes the fun out of it. 7. There is no inbuilt VR mode. In Lenovo K4 Note, by a click of a button, any app/screen enters a VR mode. I have enjoyed quite a lot of content in VR mode. Now, I am not sure I can do that out of the box or using any apps for that matter. 8. I have to pick a SIM card for my data connection. I can't simply switch it from the notice bar when I want it. I have to go to Settings for that. 9. Lack of a decent inbuilt File Manager. Lenovo nailed it. I can see it by file type/how much space/count etc... 10. I don't even have an array of notification menu icons to choose from which has to be displayed in the notification settings. In Lenovo K4 Note, I can even pick NFC, Sound muting etc... 11. There is no auto-adjustment of screen brightness (which can also be turned off/on from the Notification settings bar). I am not talking about those cons that I knew or was advertised/told/learned by reading the reviews. They are here as follows. 1. Only one of the SIM slots supports 4G. 2. It's dual standby. That means, when you are in a call with one SIM card, the other SIM card is effectively switched off. No incoming calls/messages. The person on the other end is either call forwarded/sent a notification that the phone is switched off. 3. No external SD card. 4. No DOLBY or front facing speakers (But I understand the voice clarity is expected to be better) 5. No wide touch options. What I love about (why I originally went for) OnePlus 3: 1. Performance vs Cost. It really is a beast. 2. Camera -> Just too good for the price. Manual mode/ RAW support etc/Solid front camera... 3. Very fast fingerprint sensor. Just like that! 4. Super fast charging (Even my Lenovo K4 Note did that to an extent.) 5. USB Type C (I expect more good things to happen with Type-C). 6. Switch between hardware and software keys for Home/Back/Listing button and more customizations around that. 7. Easily switch off notifications with a swipe of a button. 8. Dark Mode/Night mode etc... It's been just a couple of days. I guess, over the time, I will fall for the performance/camera of OnePlus 3 and forgive the things I miss from Lenovo K4 Note. I will try to keep this review updated if I come across something new. I hope most of these software quirks are fixed in upcoming patch releases.
