Perfect fit!
I was a bit hesitant because the price here on Amazon seemed to low compared to other mouth guards we've purchased from big box stores in the past for my active children either for football, wrestling, jui jitsu, etc. (this time its for my 11 year olds basketball season). I did not want sacrifice quality to save a couple of bucks (more like $10), however we decided to order this and give it a shot. When the product arrived, we read the instruction (very basic...boil water, place mouth guard in water for about 7 seconds, remove from water, place in mouth [which was warm for my 11 year old son, but not hot], bite down for about 10 seconds, then run cool water over mouth guard). Done! I have, and continue to coached many children in multiple sports, and I've distributed 100's of "youth size" mouth guards in the past. This is the ONLY one that we did not have to trim due to product being to long that it makes a child gag. PERFECT FIT!! I recommend this product be purchased for ANY ACTIVITY child. Not only could this product reduced the possibility of chipping a tooth, but it could also reduce the possibility of your child biting off their tongue.

Worked great for my little football player
Worked great. My son used it for his flag football game. Was concerned about the size initially because my son is only 6 and the package said age 7-12 but once I boiled it down and fit it to his mouth it was fine. I didn't even have to trim it. Overall I think it was great for the price.

and even after a couple of knocks to the head (while wearing headgear) he seemed fine.
Was a little big for my 6 year old (he's about 48" and 51 pounds). I boiled it in water for about 30 seconds and it shrunk down to a more reasonable size. He was able to use it for his karate sparring, and even after a couple of knocks to the head (while wearing headgear) he seemed fine.

All in all this would be a fine cheap mouth guard for a child around 10 years ...
This mouth guard was a little large for a seven year old. I tried to trim it, then overheated and melted it. All in all this would be a fine cheap mouth guard for a child around 10 years of age.

great fit if you follow directions
if you follow directions for fit, it's as good as one that a dentist would fit you with. I have a small mouth so my hygienist told me to go with the child size and cut the ends at the canine teeth. I wear it at night for teeth grinding.

USA TKD Legal
This works very well and it is USA TKD legal. The colored ones are not. Just make sure your child bites it correctly the first time. If they bite the edge or somehow not aligned it takes a while to get it right.

Terrible product
My 8 year old son used this once and when I washed in hot water, the black version shriveled up to a ball of plastic and began to melt immediately. The clear version washed up fine but hurt his mouth causing sores on the gums.

I'd wouldn't buy it again
I bought this mouth guard for my 5 year old for his karate sparring class and it's not that great. We followed the instructions with the boiling and so on, but it never took on the indentations from his teeth. We even reboiled it twice to try to get it to work. My husband has made his own mouth guards many times so he knew what he was doing. It kind of sits on his teeth but if he opens his mouth, it slides down. On the plus side, it does fit in his little mouth (after trimming the back a little) and he doesn't gag or anything. He likes that it's red.
