This is a good book for teaching drawing techniques.

I am somewhat new to colored pencil art and the beautiful, creative artwork that I've seen using this medium. I had no idea that is the medium of choice for so many talented artist. I want to learn how to be creative in the art of using colored pencils. This book gives simple explanations of the several terms and definitive techniques central to the beginner. It gives great points on materials the newcomer will need. These items are quite inexpensive as compared to materials needed for painting, photography, etc. I'm just playing around with the things shown in the book and having a good time from the start!

I’m recently retired, and I want to try all kinds of art...art...art! This is my introduction to colored pencil drawing, and it is a real eye-opener! I had no idea that you couldn’t just push harder to get darker and to shade...or just add yellow to blue to get the green you want. This is a little book, and it doesn’t have hundreds of lessons; but, for me, it was a nice introduction. It suited my goal.

I ordered a new book. I received a book that's used. The pages are bent and the binding is crease where it was used. The book it's self has a thin grass coating on the front and back cover

This book is excellent. I have been giving them as gifts to others.

Begin with a simple handful of pencils, then find a hobby or arts store, and on to your ability. In the art store when you bought the book, ask the staff... They like to talk, and to show you books that you'd like.

This book gives information about drawing with colored pencils. Then it looks at specific drawings and asks the artist to tell how they drew them. Unfortunately it leaves out critical information specifying what exactly was required to use their techniques. Not all pencils and papers behave the way these authors describe. There are other books that are more informative with regards to types of pencils and types of paper. Those other books acknowledge the different methods available with the variety of materials. Get those books first. Then you can supplement your library with this book.

Great book

The instructions are clear but some of the photos are a bit small so lack clarity.

A good instruction book for anyone starting out with coloured pencils. The featured artists are all knowledgeable and very good with this popular medium. The book has good information, and a lot of it in such a small book. I do recommend it.

The instructions are clear and detailed. However, one should have pen pastels to get the most of it. I suspect that pen pastel has financed the author so that all readers would be obliged to buy them (which are very expensive, by the way)

Le travail des ombres, par exemple sur des fruits m'a intéressée. je regrette que cela soit plus un livret qu'un vrai livre
