More powerful than you might think.
I was concerned about buying this small compressor, but it works extremely well for my 2” brad nailer and stapler. Depending on the wood, typically, I can get six or seven pops before it needs to recharge. Refills the tank quickly as soon as it drops a couple of pounds of pressure. Excellent compressor for a DIY’er or trim carpenter. It is small, lightweight, and extremely easy to use. Dewalt makes great tools.

Great physically small compressor for motorhome.
I wanted a compressor for our motorhome with enough pressure and volume to inflate the 19 inch tires on the motorhome and the 17 inch tires on our towed pickup.I looked at the 12v units but they all have limited duty cycle and pump relatively slow. They are also expensive. This compressor fits nicely in a basement compartment with its hose and fittings. It has no problem reaching the max 120PSI the rv tires are rated for and works fine at the 80psi we actually run. While it is certainly slower than my home, 220 v compressor, it is livable to fill a truck tire. Being a 120v unit it basically has a 100% duty cycle so I can fill 6 rv tires if I need to with it cooling off to meet duty cycle. It also gives me the ability to refill the tires on our towed Chevy Colorado ZR2 if I want or need to 'air down' for the terrain. Our motorhome has 1000 Watts of solar and a 3000 watt inverter backed by a large LiPO battey, so in any practical scenario, I can effectively run the compressor as much as I need to.For my special need it has proved the perfect answer. Now if it could only run a 1/2 inch air powered impact wrench...LOL

Perfect off-grid air compressor
Used to lug around a heavy dual chamber air compressor this overkill for most projects. Occasionally we need an air compressor off-grid powered by a honda 2000W generator. That genny easily kicks this Dewalt air compressor. It does run more often then a larger capacity compressor but its very quiet... and did i mention light! Really like this unit. More refined that our commercial compressor. One thing to consider is the controls placement - the arrangement does lend itself to future breakage. Controls are not well protected. As this was designed for portability some extra care taken to protect controls should have taken priority.

Easy to handle
This compressor is light and portable. Very good for out of the way situations and still reliable. A little more noise than I expected but things are just loud, c’est la vie.

Another Good DeWalt Design
I needed a lightweight, portable compressor to allow me to take my various nail guns to work on friends and relatives projects. Others had given this DeWalt pretty good marks, and the price is certainly right. I always appreciate the thought that DeWalt puts into tool design...once in a while, they miss an ergonomic feature, but it's clearly not for lack of effort. This guy carries easily, will stand up for storage, and sits on rubber feet when in use, so it's quiet and stays put. Large, easy to read pressure guages, and easy to adjust regulator. Very quiet in operation...ideal for inside use...doesn't even startle the cats.Plenty of oomph for all but the heaviest-duty uses. I wouldn't shingle a roof with it, but it keeps up with any finish work I do, and adequate for framing if you take a little time.Others reviewers mentioned the break-in procedure. It's somewhere in the manual after pages of the usual caution/warning stuff. Wouldn't have known about it otherwise (you'd think they would put an advisory label over the power switch, or something visible like that.) Anyway, it's nothing more than 'open the drain valve and let it run for awhile' deal....but given the early failures a few other reviewers had, I'll take DeWalt's advice.Had it for a month, and have used it several times. All in all, another terffic DeWalt value.

Incomplete guessing game
I'm so very pissed off after purchasing this air compressor. I know nothing about air compressors, other than the fact that I needed one for a pressure pot for resin casting. It was small enough, affordable enough, and well reviewed. Obviously others know what to expect from a DeWalt, whereas I did not. Here is what is wrong with this thing:1. There is no air hose. Nope, no hose at all. If you're a beginner, and looking for a complete package, THIS IS NOT IT.2. The hose that comes up as a suggested selling item via Amazon does not fit this compressor. According to the documentation, it has a "Universal Quick Connect", whatever the heck that is. Whatever it is, it's not part of the hose Amazon suggests as an accessory for this compressor.3. This "Universal Quick Connect" isn't so damned "Universal" after all. I bought what I thought was a Universal adapter to try and get some use out of the wasted air hose (see above point). Guess what? It did not fit this compressor. Universal, my ass.4. So now here I am with this universal adapter, I figure I'll just replace the adapter on the air compressor. Unless you have an open ended wrench to get the supplied plug off of there, good luck. Remember, I'm a beginner. I don't have a lot of tools, nor adapters, not experience, nor money. WTF, how the heck do you get this damned thing off of here.5 Why the holy f*** is there no hose with this thing? I mean, really? WTF...Again, if you're looking for a complete package, avoid this at all costs. If you're an expert, and know what you're doing, great, but if you're a beginner like I was, this is most certainly not the product to get. Physically go to Home Depot or Lowes and actually talk to someone. Hopefully they'll inform you of what you actually do need to make use of this.

Ideal for finish carpenters and woodworkers, the D55140 can be used for custom installation of shelves or other furniture, cabinet trim installation and for pressure-testing new plumbing lines. Performance -The D55140 produces .75 SCFM at 90 PSI, 135 PSI (Max), delivering high surge performance with quick recovery, and at 69 dBA, provides end users with a quieter operation, compared to existing compressors in the marketplace. The compressor was designed with a 2.6 amp draw motor to deliver easy start-up and reduced breaker tripping, as well as a high flow regulator that provides maximum air pressure to increase jobsite performance. The D55140 is also equipped with an oil-free, long-life pump, allowing for maintenance-free operation. The oil-free design of the pump eliminates the need for users to check or refill the pump, and also helps to keep the jobsite clean by preventing oil from transferring to work surfaces. Ease of Use/Portability - The compact design of this unit is ideal for end users who prefer hand carry compressors. Weighing just 24 pounds and measuring 9” wide, the compressor is easily transported and stored, making it ideal for knock-out work. In addition, DEWALT equipped the compressor with a one-hand, universal quick connect for easy-to-use operation. For increased efficiency, the D55140 was designed with a ball drain valve for quick and thorough tank draining and a convenient cord wrap for easy storage. Durability - The efficient and unique design of the D55140 ensures maximum durability and longevity. DEWALT built the heavy-duty compressor with an innovative roll cage, full-protection frame design to shield the unit from routine wear and tear and accidental damage. In addition, a wrap-around control panel covers the frame and provides further protection to key components of the compressor.
