Compact but capable – ideal for DIY and light trade use
I’ve been using the Makita DF033DWAE 12V Max Drill Driver for a while now and it has impressed me more than expected. Despite being part of Makita’s smaller 12V CXT range, it feels solidly built and more than powerful enough for everyday DIY tasks. I’ve mainly used it for fitting curtain rails and de-hanging and re-hanging doors in my property (painting frames), and it’s handled both jobs really well. It’s worth noting this is more of a driver than a heavy-duty drill, but for wood, plasterboard, and other lighter jobs it’s perfectly suited. Pros: Lightweight and compact (much more so than the 18V Makita range – portable and ideal for tight spaces or overhead work. Two 2.0Ah batteries included, so you can keep one on charge. The supplied battery life also is very good. Plenty of power for screws, fixings, and lighter drilling. Supplied with a well designed, very useful Makita case, including batteries and charger, making it easy to store and carry. The whole set is light also. Comfortable grip and well-balanced for longer use. Cons (minor): Not intended for heavy masonry or large bolts – you’d need an 18V drill for that. Case is functional and well designed, but leaves little room for accessories. Verdict: A great choice if you want a reliable driver for general DIY, furniture assembly, curtain rails, doors, and other light jobs. If you don’t need the brute force of an 18V drill, this strikes the perfect balance between size, weight, and performance.

Great 12 volt tool
An excellent smaller tool for use when the larger 18volt edition is too big for the job.

A drill without drill chuck??
Call me stupid, but I did expect a driill chuck with this drill. Not for it to be an optional accessory. Its like selling a car without tyres.
