Working good so far. No complaints.
Working as expected. So far no issues, although I haven't put it through a battery of tests, just basic playing and ripping. Haven't tried burning yet and probably won't for a while.

Bought to burn hdd backups to blue-ray as it holds more.
I have been backing up our computers to DVD and external drives. That takes a lot of DVD disks. I am moving all those backups from DVD to Blue-ray to save space. I also save photos and downloads for computer to them. It is so nice to be able to put 25gb. on one disc instead of just 4.25gb. Happy days. This is a lovely drive and also have an Asus DVD burner that we've had for many years. If burning blue-ray in Nero you need to connect to the internet to be able to burn to them. A small price to pay for more room. We don't trust the cloud, we are old fashioned.

Good for 2010 Dell tower/Windows 7 and Windows 10
Quiet and relatively quick. About 12 minutes to burn 22GB. Routine installation of burner and software. Burning backup disks of photos and videos went smoothly. The software leaves an ugly "gadget" on the desktop that I'll probably learn to ignore in a couple days. Otherwise the software functions as required to burn bluray disks. My tower is a Dell XPS 8300 with covers over the front of the burners. You push a button off to the side and the tray opens the cover from the inside. The Asus BW-16D1HT fit right in and functions as if it was factory installed. Very low processor/memory usage. I am still using Windows 7 so I cannot comment on Windows 10 compatibility. Update June 2016: After upgrade to Windows 10 I can report that the burner works as expected under Windows 10 as well. Has not burned a coaster CD/DVD/BR disc yet. Have not yet tried an M-Disc.

Asus, a name you can trust.
The last computer I build with an Asus disk drive was over ten years ago and it still works flawlessly to this day. I purchased this one to put in my wife's new computer and the quality is just as good as it's always been. Easy to install, opens, closes, reads, and copies fast, quiet, and reliable. I fully expect this one to perform just as long and well as my original (which I still have and use regularly).

Used it to rip my disc collection
Bought together with a Vantec NexStar DX2 external enclosure it to rip my DVD and Blu-Ray collection with MakeMKV and it got the job done.

Great little drive
I biought this drive specifically because it is a drive that is fully supported to rip my 4k Bluerays to storage for easier use by my media server. This drive works perfectly for that once the firmware is downgraded.

works as advertised
So far so good, but I will warn it does not come with any kind of Blu-ray READING software, and Windows 8+ doesn't come with any either, so if you want to actually watch a Blu-ray movie on your PC, you need to purchase a third party player; there are no free ones that I could find. You CAN watch DVD movies as those are viewable with plenty of free players.

Does its output match the hype
There were optical drives that would cut an M-Disk for half the cost of the Asus model. However, I have been using Asus products for 15 years and know them to be durable, cutting-edge, and reliable.
