fun and quiet
This replaced my very old piston rower. The Xterra is easy to use, has a wide range of resistance, and shows strokes, strokes per minute, "distance" rowed, and calories burned. The distance and calories are likely only approximate, but do give you a ballpark figure. I am starting at a 4 resistance, which is fine for me for an hour's use. I plan to increase resistance as I get in better shape. Best of all, this is very quiet. Granted, it is not giving the lifelike sounds of rowing like a water resistance machine, or even an air fan, but I can row and watch the 5:30 news without blasting the volume. While it is easy to roll around, it is very long, and we have turns and twists and furniture to get it from the closet to the living room, so I leave it folded and just carry it. at 62 pounds, this may be too heavy for some. I am using a softer foam pad on top of the seat to avoid coccyx soreness. It seems very sturdy, with heavy duty frame, seat and rollers. Finally, terrific price, especially compared to other brands, and cheaper still here on Amazon.

Great product for a home gym
I put this together by myself. I had to really look at some of the diagrams closely, but it took me about 45 minutes or so. I also used the power screw driver a few times. The rower is smooth and looks nice in my basement mini gym. I need to get a mat because it does slide some when in use, that is not evident when using it though, you only realize it when you finish and it is farther from where you started. I put a book behind it to keep it from sliding backward so I won’t hit my head on a ledge that is back there. It tracks distance, time, strokes and I think a few other things that I don’t pay attention to. The tension knob seems to work well, although I am using it on 1 right now and will work up. The foot holders a large and the straps to hold your feet work well, although the straps go way beyond where I need them and at first I was afraid the Velcro would not stick. So a larger and wider shoe can fit. My husband is 6 ft and 240 and was comfortable. The seat works well, is comfy for awhile, but with anything hard, it can be a little challenging to sit on it for a long length of time. I am very pleased with this purchase and the price is a good value.

Overall good, but small quality issues
I would recommend this product, but please read this review.Functionally, from a limited test, this rower appears to be every bit as good as the rowers I've used at the fitness center. Resistance levels seem sufficient; seat is comfortable and glides easily with little noise; display is light enough and seems adequate for my needs, pedals are comfortable and rotate as needed.Assembly was easy, but I encountered a quality issue, two screws were missing from the kit, but I found suitable replacements in my extra parts salvage (I always save extra materials when I assemble something)While I did not have a problem with shipping damage, the shipping box appeared to be vulnerable to damage to the slide rail. All in all. I am satisfied with the unit so far. I will update my review if I find any other issues.

Hard for me to give anything five stars but this is also...
We bought the pro bike and mid level rower from Xterra, and the treadmill from sister company Sole.First, my reason for five stars.I have bought a lot of equipment, the two Xterra units were the easiest assembly experience I've ever had. It's mostly together, but the hardware packages are segmented and labeled, 'step 1, step2, etc..' and ONLY the nuts and bolts for that step are in that bubble on the sheet. Super easyThe rower is very sturdy and I'm 250, so it makes a difference. The steel is thicker than the units at both commercial gyms we use and the seat has super smooth actionWe've had it for a week, if we wind up with any problems, I'll update this, but so far, so good.I'd highly recommend the pro bike and this ERG220 rower. In fact a co-worker is going to buy the rower.

Age-defying
As a senior looking for a no-frills rower that does its job, this was it. Never rowed before, so took me a little bit to develop proper technique. Easy to assemble, easy to use. No “subscription” driven fancy console with oversized screen, just a basic small one which suits me just fine especially since I have a tv in my exercise room. Easily folds, but I keep it in place. This rower was perfect for my needs - a beginner.

Happy birthday to me!
I ordered this rower as a gift to me for my 70th birthday. Years ago, I had a Concept 2 rower which I used frequently but my house is small so I needed something smaller, but of the same quality. Based on reviews, I took a chance on this rower - and I am not disappointed. It took me about an hour to put it together by myself (as I said, I am a 70-year-old woman). The most difficult part was removing the packing materials. The outer box was damaged but the contents were well-protected. The parts are separated by steps so you have everything you need for each step. Great idea. The pictures are not great, but I have put together a lot of stuff - and I always start by carefully inspecting the photograph of the finished product. The only real difficult part of the assembly was getting the long screw through the two parts of the rower to connect them - I had to hold up both parts at the same time to align the holes. But I managed to do it. It is a sturdy rower and quiet. It's easy to adjust the tension. The seat is fine. I do have a lot of my own padding at 130lbs, but I rowed for 30 minutes and was fine. The back support has levelers so the rower sits flat on the floor which is important. The only complaint I have is that the pedals are short and I don't really like that they rotate a bit. It puts too much pressure on the strap across my foot. But other than that, I am satisfied and would recommend this. If anything goes wrong, I will update this review. One of my friends just stopped by and tried out the rower. She is on her way home to order one for herself! Happy Birthday to Me!!

Nice for the money. Missing pieces.
It will work for my at-home fitness. It is not as smooth as the one I use at the gym, but the price was also not ridiculous like the ones at the gym. It is missing the caps tot he support piece and I am hoping someone will see this review and help me get some sent to me.
