Would this be a good machine for a 9 yr old to learn to sew on? Too advanced? Perfect?

I purchased it for my 8 yr. old granddaughter, who had never used a sewing machine before, learning how much pressure to put on the pedal is the biggest challenge. I had practice on an ole piece of fabric.

Singer 2026 Needle, Needle size 16 to 18 (using another brand can cause tension issues) 4. Moderate speed when sewing over multiple layers/seams

i am guessng this model does not reverse stitch?

The Singer model 1304 does have "Reverse sewing" option; as do all current Singer sewing machine models(excluding serger machines).
