Great upgrade from older Hayward super pump
This pump replacement a 12 year old Hayward 1.5 Super pump for a 20,000 gallon in ground pool. The first then we noticed was how quiet it was compared to our old pump. It self primes on initial start up but after maybe 10 secs it’s quiet almost as if it’s not even on. It variable speed works great and I can only imagine how much more efficient it is then the older ones. I would definitely recommend this pump if your on the fence about upgrading.

Great product poor delivery
The quality of this product is great. Just wish I could get Amazon to deliver the items as requested. They placed this item in front of a sign that says do not deliver items here. Please place on front porch. It rained on this unit but not the seller’s fault. I don’t care about the money but, disappointed in the delivery

Horrible product, Horrible company, Horrible warranty service
Pump lasted less than a year. Contacted Hayward 5 times trying to resolve problem. Each time I contact them they tell technical support will contact you in 48 hours. However no one will contact you.

So quiet you'll need to check that it's running
Easy install as we were replacing the same brand equipment with something more energy efficient and quieter. Easy to program.So quiet I had to check that it was running.

Good replacement for a 1hp single speed
Good replacement for an old single speed. Install required increase from 115 to 220v service and new breaker..but the energy savings and quiet operation is legit.

Not necessarily a simple "drop in"
After 25 years going through several Hayward super pumps 1.5 hp - I bought the newer variable speed as a replacement this spring. It comes with 2" ports (with 1 1/2 " adapters) meaning it was not a simple "drop in" as claimed - and therefore I needed to create new piping. The required adapters - 2" to 1-1/2"- changed everything (as all the old piping would not match up exactly and I use unions which means everything ordinarily unscrews easily for quick replacement). Also this pump has timers built in - which admittedly is a plus - however somewhat difficult to learn the programming and finally - vacuuming is a big disappointment - NOT powerful enough even at top speed of 3450 rpms - takes longer than usual to vacuum my pool. I miss the vacuuming power of my old 1.5hp Superpump.

Good pump
Good pump. Just know if you order the 1 and 1/2 inlet it comes with adapters to reduce it from 2” to 1 1/2. Not a problem but just another place for a leak. Easy to program and should save energy compared to a single speed put.
