The spring fit well within the housing on an old Guardian 16" drill press.
I couldn't find a direct replacement spring for the old Guardian drill press so searched this spring out as a close fit (by size comparison) substitute. It fits well and works well. Satisfied with this choice and the fact that it comes as a 2-pack so that I'll have a spare.

Works fine, 10mm wide is better than 8mm
Works fine, 10mm wide is better than 8mm. The bend at the inner diameter of the coil was not long enough to stay in the slot of the axle, but I went past it and jammed the curved beginning of the into the slot, leaving the bent end to function as a "hook" so it cannot pull out. Functions just fine in a 1980 Duracraft DP-514 bench press. There are (2) spring coils in this pack, so I have a backup, even though the machine will continue to work long afted I am gone. Would buy again, how can I go wrong?
