My Password Journal

My 6 year-old daughter had asked for something that locked because her older brother (9) was going through her "very important, secret stuff" and she needed to protect it at all cost! I had looked around for something cute that would work and found this little journal. As I was reading the details it was perfect! It was lockable without having to keep up with a key and had a spot for writing or drawing and a little secret hidden box inside to keep her stuff safe. In order to unlock the journal it has a built in microphone that records your chosen password in your own voice. So when anyone else besides my daughter tries to open the locked journal it instantly recognizes it's not the same voice or password and sets off an alarm to where she again can record a message to the said perpetrator! My son attempted to unlock it and alarm started beeping so loud and next thing you heard was "GET AWAY FROM MY STUFF JACKSON!" Yup, it worked flawlessly! The next time she unlocked her journal it said "one person tried to access your journal" and then played my sons voice back from earlier trying to say her password!! It's the coolest little journal ever and perfect for any little girl!

My daughter is in love with this thing! She's 8 years old, very smart little girl, and she is very happy with My Password Journal. She's gone through many of the preset recorded ideas for writing, she loves the secret storage compartment underneath the journal inside, loves the invisible ink that is activated by the inside light, and is especially in love with the ability to catch the intruder Daddy trying to get into her secret writings! Haha. So freaking cute. I try to break in and sound like her to get it to open up and it goes off with this alarm and says to me in her voice "Get away from my journal or i'm gunna come and find you!" lol. I can't believe it records her voice and then it unlocks when she says her password! Words of advice: Try to keep your passwords on the shorter side. Several words can get difficult. Tone of voice matters, if you say it when you're excited and then try to say your password when you're depressed, it's probably going to stay shut even for the owner. So, my best advice is to record it in a normal tone of voice. Also when you record, don't be so clear and concise. Encourage your child to say it however they would normally say it in a sentence, even cutting out a syllable. Otherwise, entry requires a very clear and concise, very enunciated word(s). Have fun! Your little ones will for sure, and the price is just great for this thing. You'll probably have to eventually buy some separate invisible ink markers, and DEFINITELY a new notebook for inside form the store or whatever. The book provided is super thin, probably like 40 sheets of small paper. They really should have made it fatter than what they provided. That was the only downside. It's a really stingy notebook inside. Otherwise, perfect perfect perfect and consumes the heck out of their time. Keeps them very busy with their very own creativity, and encourages writing, AND journaling, which if you don't already know yet, is like free therapy. Journaling is better for kids and adults alike more so than a therapist. Journaling is therapeutic. Period.

Item is awesome for my 6 year old. It is super sensitive to noise, so she needs to leave the room to talk to the journal. And if she doesn't say the password exactly as she did to set the password, then it will not work. Use single word or two seems to be the best method for consistency. It works great, its just very picky for a littler one.

I had these when I was a kid. Now my daughter is 7 and shes into diaries. So i purchased one for her as a gift for christmas. Super cute and easy to use. She totally loves it. The only bad thing is the voice detector gets really dostrator from outside noises it almost needs to be needle drop quiet but we still love it

My daughter loves this password journal. However, the fun is really the locking and unlocking feature, as well as the voices and sounds that signal an intruder. The voice recognition is very sensitive. When another kid says the password it won't open. When we play a recording of my daughter saying the password it won't open. We've only been able to get it to open with her own voice, live. Fortunately, there is a pretty simple, but not obviously visible, button on the back to get it open if you forge the password. Overall, it's a lot of fun and has kept her attention longer than some other toys we bought around the same time. The main drawback is that my daughter is so caught up in the password, locking mechanism and sounds, that she doesn't actually spend much time writing in the journal. Hopefully that will change as the novelty wears off.

This is super fun for young girls. They get to set their own verbal password, and it only recognizes their voice. Unfortunately, for my daughter, I do a great job of mimicking her voice and can unlock her journal. Don't worry, I don't read all of her secrets. She uses it as a "secret fashion" journal. She actually loves that I can mimic her voice and open it - then she asks me to buy the clothes she designs on the internet. I've tried explaining that's not how the internet works. However, she's fully convinced I am capable of finding anything online. I also bought one for her friend. She also loved it! Hours of fun!

My daughter LOVES this thing. I am so happy I found one online. It has a few neat options. She was blown away by the invisible ink and black light feature. It does a good job of recognizing her voice and has an alarm for people who give the wrong one. Very cute. Pen is not going to last long, nor will the pad. But you can buy these pens elsewhere and you can always find a small pad similar to it. No problem.

I am a bit confused by some of the reviews that gave this product a one star and bad review as our experience was the complete opposite. Perhaps theirs were faulty. We purchase this for our 6 year old daughter who wanted a secret diary, after a little research we decided this was the one and we and most importantly my daughter are very pleased with it. The controls in setting up and changing passwords and switching between intruder playback and UV light etc are age appropriate and easy to operate and understand. When the password has been set via the switch inside the cover you then close it press the outer button and it asks 'whats the password ?' The voice recognition is really good, it only recognises her voice, the rest of the family can't open it even when we know the password and for fun I often try to imitate her voice and fail to open it and am labelled an intruder. Then when she opens it up she can play back a recording of the voice that tried to get in. You also get a small pad inside and a UV pen which is visible only under the built in UV light. Replacement UV pens are available on amazon. There is a small secret compartment behind the diary where some small nick knacks can be placed or secret notes etc. She has been using it for about 6 months now and it's still working well. There is an external reset button in case they forget the password or something goes wrong, but it's best not to mention it to them (or their brother) and let them believe it's totally secure, it's more fun that way. So overall as I said I think it's excellent and for how much fun she's had it's worth every penny.

My daughter was so excited to receive this journal and it did not disappoint! the instructions are easy enough to follow that she figured it out on her own (she's 8). The thing that she liked the most is the "magic" invisible ink pen that glows under black light. It also gives ideas on what to write about so she is never stuck for ideas. The password message is easy to change which she does frequently. The one time that she could not remember her password it was easy to reset by pushing a small reset button on the back of the journal. Over all, it is a great toy that encourages my daughter to write and use her imagination instead of watching TV so it's worth every penny!
