An MTV special featuring soft rock giants the Eagles, who have incited the world into a state of uncontrollable mellowness with hits like 'Take It Easy', 'Desperado' and, of course, 'Hotel California'. Review: What a Cool DVD - I have loved the Eagles for years, and have several CDs of theirs. Last Christmas my wife and I splurged on a built-in 7.1 home theater system with high quality speakers and components. I have been accumulating music DVDs since then. Other desertcart very positive reviews convinced me I should buy this DVD; I'm really glad I did. I can play audio in either Dolby or DTS. I've found music DVD's sound best when played with DTS, so I always buy videos with DTS audio tracks if they are available. I watched "The Eagles -- Hell Freezes Over" with DTS selected, and all I can say is WOW!. The picture quality is great when upscaled, and the DTS is awesome. The DTS-only bonus track "The Seven Bridges Road" sounds so good that I plan to use it as demo for my audio components and speakers when I want to impress my friends; never mind that its one of my favorite Eagles cuts. My only complaint about this album is that it does not include the Eagles classic "Lyin' Eyes"; otherwise, its perfect. Don Henley, Glen Frey and the rest of the band have aged gracefully, but their musical and performing skills haven't diminished in any way. This is a DVD to sit down to, turn up your volume, kick back, and rock out. Review: A Great Classic, Reunion Concert By The Eagles, After A 14 Year "Hiatus" Featuring Classic Hits + Some Songs Of Reconciliation!! - This dvd begins as kind of a documentary, then it continues into acoustic performances of several songs, then ventures into full electric performances. This dvd contains the band members: Don Henley, Glen Frey, Joe Walsh, Don Felder, & Timothy B. Schmit. It includes their classic hits, such as "Hotel California", "Tequila Sunrise", "Desperado", and others. Also, it includes a couple of songs of forgiveness & reconciliation, "The Heart of the Matter", & "Get Over It". After this concert dvd was performed, and their "Hell Freezes Over Tour" ended, Don Felder was dismissed from the band. This is the last concert dvd he appears on with the Eagles. After this dvd, the Eagles evenutally recorded their concert dvd from their "Fairwell I Tour", which includes only Don Henley, Glen Frey, Joe Walsh, and Timothy B. Smith. If you like the Eagles, (and who doesn't?), then you'll enjoy this concert dvd. Thanks!!!

Hell Continues To Freeze Over
Yeah, I know it's been over a decade since this was released...but it's still GREAT! For those who thought the price was too high back in 1994, I have good news. The price is now right! A steal, really. The level of musicianship displayed in this video is over-the-top. But, that's what it took to create hit music back when the Eagles led the way. More than a beat. More than shock-type lyrics. More than hype. If you love music that's sophisticated, yet communicative...lyrics that are honest, emotional and relevant--even today...this is a musical experience you must have! If you are amazed at vocal harmonies that are smooth and creamy, rich and powerful, this is a musical experience you owe yourself. If you demand honest lyrics sung with power and passion, you've hit the mother-lode! I'm not sure now many copies of this DVD are still in existence, but someday you'll wish you owned one of them. I now do.

The Greatest American Band.....Ever !!
Awesome concert !! Wish it was longer, meaning there's a few songs, hits, that were left out including my favorite Eagles tune New Kid in Town ,Lying Eyes, and Peaceful Easy Feeling. The Last Resort doesn't belong in a concert setting... period. Okay on with the show, what can I say besides it is the best Eagles concert dvd Ever, at least until they release the complete Wash.DC 1977 concert. The sound is unbelievable and the Eagles don't miss a beat. You could tell they were nervous but they came through in spades. The first part of the show was a little subdued and I think they should have started the show with Take It Easy to loosen up the crowd and themselves but they eventually came around and the end of the show is a pure delight. The band seemed genuinely glad to be back playing together and smiles all around. Kudos to the Eagles. I should confess that I was burned out and tired of the Eagles by the end of The Long Run album, read 70's, I hated it. Now, with the passing of Glen Frey, RIP Glenn, I can't seem to get enough of their music, it really soothes the soul and brings back a lot of good memories. I wish I had the sound system to really appreciate this dvd but whatever you have you will not be disappointed. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did, I'll be replaying this one for years to come.

That collasal stadium was not ideal accoustically yet Eagles filled it up with beautiful sound, loud yet clear
I bought this disc for a friend's birthday but have owned my own copy since it was released in the 90s. I attended the "Hell Freezes Over" tour at Cleveland's Municipal Stadium and witnessed an extraordinary musical performance. That collasal stadium was not ideal accoustically yet Eagles filled it up with beautiful sound, loud yet clear. Despite some rain and no shelter they didn't miss a beat. This concert disc takes place inside and is exquisite. This is the benchmark for concert DVDs for sound quality and band performance. Intriguing behind the scenes material begins the disc. This is a showcase for dts surround sound and a must have for Eagles fans. The people stereo sounds great too. Note this full screen picture format(not wide screen).

Back From A 14 Year Vacation, And Picking Up From Where They Left Off.
The Eagles. Hell Freezes Over. Don Henley said in 1980 that the Eagles would get back together "When Hell Freezes Over", hence the name given to this album. The Eagles in this 2005 Geffen Records DVD video recording are coming back from a fourteen year break and performing a live MTV Special concert. When? Where? Who knows. There is no mention anywhere of when or where the concert took place. Some internet research told me that it took place at Warner Burbank Studios, in Burbank, California, on 25-26 April, 1994. A few of the new songs were recorded separately in a studio. Anyway, it takes the Eagles a while to get back in the swing of things, as they have gotten a little rusty over the years from being out of practice, but once they settle down, it seems like they never split up. The video quality is excellent, but the audio quality sometimes suffers a bit from the problems that usually plague live concerts- audience noise, stage acoustics, and voices sometimes being drowned out by the instrumentals. It is difficult if not impossible to get a clean mix with an impromptu setup on a stage in front of a crowd, so if a particular song is new or one you are not familiar with, you might wish you had liner notes containing the words to the songs so you know what they are singing. The liner notes contain a group photo of the Eagles, and a chapter index of the DVD, but that's it. This DVD contains 17 DVD songs, mostly their old hit songs, like "Hotel California", "Tequila Sunrise", and "Take It Easy". The DVD has a few extras, consisting of some comments by the band members, and a few minutes of a tuneup session prior to the concert. There is also an audio version of the last song "Seven Bridges Road", and unfortunately, for that you need a DTS Decoder. The song is not available to you otherwise. Bummer. I paid for the DVD, so I am entitled to hear all of the music, not most of it. Otherwise, this a great album.
