Excel Kidz Pediatric Wheelchair Options - Foot Rests: Elevating Legrests

I ordered this wheelchair at the beginning of February when my 7 year old son broke his femur in a bike wreck. The description is pretty straightforward, minus any good info on the child's height maximum. My son is approximately 51" tall, legs 22 and 1/2" long. His legs barely fit with the legs extended all the way out. For a temporary use, this wheelchair is good. But if you are looking for a longer term use for a taller child, you will need to upgrade to a teen sized chair.As for the quality, it is very good. The wheelchair is super smooth. I read some complaints about the handles and security of the leg rests. The handles seem to be tight, but as with all nut type tightening systems, they will wear out or loosen over time. The foot rests seem to be fine. It holds my son's whole leg cast with little to no movement. The entire wheelchair is very solid and nice looking. Kind of sporty looking compared to other brands. There is a thin pocket in back to keep small items and the arms fold up to give a less restrictive load and unload.Delivery was very fast, but I chose a seller from the Amazon list that was closer. I received mine in 2 days. I needed it quickly and am extremely pleased with this product. Definitely worth every penny.

We chose this for our 3-year-old's first wheelchair. The seat is bigger than what he measured, but we wanted him to have some wiggle room, and I think this was a good decision. It has a 14" wide wipeable seat (with seat belt), detachable leg rests, adjustable handles and smooth-maneuvering wheels. The top of the chair only comes up to my thigh, a short little thing. My son is learning quickly how to wheel himself around and I feel very comfortable putting him in this chair. It is sturdy, folds up easily, doesn't weigh too much and is very comfortable. Extremely happy with it!

This wheelchair and the company Medline are amazing! We ordered it after our 5 yr old son broke his femur and was confined to a wheelchair for a month. We ran into multiple issues with our local medical supply store and decided to just buy one, as it seems pediatric wheelchairs are hard to come by if you're trying to rent. We cannot say enough good things about this product! Within a few hours he was pushing himself and maneuvering his way around. It gave him some independence and us some freedom. It runs very smoothly, and is really a great size. The hand grips extend upward, so your not leaning over to far to push it. My husband contacted Medline to see if there was any way they could get it to us sooner than a week and it showed up two days later. This was money well spent!

This is the prefect size wheelchair for my granddaughter.She is 40 inches tall and weighs 39 pounds. I think that this wheelchair is very well constructed. I really like the fact that hand grips are adjustable which means no more backaches from having to bend over to push this wheelchair. I also like the fact that the leg rests are removable and also adjustable. My only disappointment was that the back of this does not recline. That would be very helpful when trying to adjust for different styles of casts. That is the only reason for the 4 stars.

I purchased this for my 6 year old daughter. It's a great chair. We have only had 2 small issues. One was that the adjustable push handles slip down and have to be readjusted. This is very easy as they have knobs on the back that are easy to tighten. The other issue is that one of leg rests is a little difficult to remove. The overall quality of the chair was much higher than what I had expected for the price. It's very easy to manuever. We took it to Disneyland and I often used one hand to push it while walking next to it. It didn't come with good directions for how to remove or insert the footrest or adjust the anti tippers or push handles. It was pretty intuitive though so not really a big issue.

We read positive reviews about this wheelchair on other sites, and decided to buy it while we were waiting for our daughter's much more expensive special needs transport chair to get covered by insurance and delivered. This is an ideal transport chair, as it has the telescoping handles that make it easy for a parent to push. It's a sturdy, well made chair. The wheels are great for a sidewalk, or even rougher terrain, and I love the little wheels on the back to prevent the chair from tipping over. Our daughter is 6, 45 inches and 56 pounds, and this fits her great. Her feet barely touch the foot rests, so she will be able stay in it for at least 2or 3 years. I read another review by a parent of a 3 year old, and it also fit that man's son. The legs rests make it comfortable even if a kid's feet don't touch the foot rests. I don't think this would be ideal for a kid who needs to wheel himself, as even though the arm rests can flip back out of the way, it's a bit awkward like that. Our daughter mainly needs us to push her, so that's not an issue. She *can* wheel herself, but it wouldn't work well for doing that constantly, because the arm rests kind of get in the way when they are back, and bump under her arms when they are down. Again, this is only an issue if a smaller child needs to wheel himself. This chair folds up nicely, and the leg rests pop off to make it smaller - all you have to do is lift the lever to get them off. Considering my daughter's transport chair/stroller costs over $3000 - I think this is a great value for the price! If a child doesn't need any special head or trunk support, this chair is perfect! I'm glad we bought it and we continue to use it often even though she has another transport chair (the other one is in my trunk, this one is in my husband's, so we use it about half the time).

I have been dealing with amazon for about a year and a half. Everything has been great most the time.This chair is great for my daughter, the right size, very light and easy to handle. It was free shipping.When we got it one leg was broken but not so bad my husband fixed it s we didn't have to send it back.
