Honest and thorough review...
Update on 9/24/2018 - I have made contact with the seller of this product and they have been amazing and quick in resolving my issue. I'm very thankful for this.Update on 9/23/2018 - I have further lowered the rating on this item because of an issue that I have found with the drag and I have contacted the seller.I started out looking for a nice reel for my trout rod and saw this. It seemed very reasonably priced for the features that it described so I decided to try one out (I normally use PENN Battle or Spinfisher reels). It arrived on time and packaged well. It seems to be solidly constructed, it is VERY lite weight and it is machined well, It is large for it's size compared to other reels (I got the 1000 and it is sized more like other brands 2500-3000 sizes). I did find that the distance between where it mounts to the rod and the bail wire was shorter than other brands so as a result the bail wire hits my knuckles when I'm reeling line in. To me the most important part of the reel is the drag. If you have ever used HT-100 drags on PENN reels, then you know that they are silky smooth and you are able to make very small adjustments with the knob. That is NOT the case with the drag on this reel. I found it sticky/jerky and each "click" of the knob made a relatively large change in the pressure applied so I was not pleased with this. I may try opening the drag and applying some PENN grease to it and see if that improves it (if anyone out there has tried something like this - please let me know). I have not tried using it in saltwater yet so I can not comment on the durability in that environment. If you are not a "professional" fisher, I think that this is a very well made reel (other than the drag) for the price that you pay. If I find any tricks to improving the drag or if I take it saltwater fishing, I will update the review.

so good for crappie fishing”
Bought the reel originally as the backup reel for my ci4+ to fish crappie. Went to fish crappie with dad and his old okuma died. Dad took the red DL1000 and asked me, “you got another ci4+“? “Yeah? maybe it is”. “Let me try”. Dad put the reel onto his rod and fished the rest afternoon. “Dam, this ‘ci4’ is so smooth and light, so good for crappie fishing”. Dad loves the red DL1000 so much. “You can have it, dad, it is not be real ci4, much cheap and looks similar and works same as ci4”, I said.

First impression and spooling line on the 2000 model.
First impression:- Body looks solid.- if you can get it for about $20.00, you can't really complain, it's no $100 reel nor $200.00 but It will do the job.- it's a good throw away, travel, back up reel at that price that can handle big fish. I would recommend spending more if you want something nicer but it would cost 2 or 3 times more.-2000 spool size is too big. It's comparable to a 4000 spool. It's much deeper than a 2000. If I had to do it again I'll try for the 1000 instead for most applications.- the line clip as shown on the picture fell off probably 3 times when messing with it at home or just spooling it. (I will probably try to glue the clip that holds it down together underneath before I end up losing it.) Highly recommend checking that all screw are tighten properly, you wouldn't want to loose any screw.- the drag jumps from 33lb to no drag or 2/3lbs in about 10 clicks or a 90 degree dial turn. It's not very sensitive, it adjust at about 2/3lbs increments per clicks. You will probably need to set your drag gently to match your line if you do not want the line to snap under pressure for lighter lines. The drag is not ideal if you want to achieve a certain adjustable drag while fishing. Your drag might be too loose or too tight.- line lay isn't impressive. It's ok at best just as shown. Not even. But it's only $20.00. When you fill pass 60%, it's hard not to get a few loose wrap. Tried to respool it couple times, I still have a few loose wrap every time. If you are picky and keep it under 60% you might be ok.My guess is this reel will do the job for most applications and big fishes. The drag seems as if it will have very little to no play for some applications.I will update after testing it enough on the water.

Put it to the test
Last night was fishing for blacktip sharks here in florida. I have caught many smaller sharks (about 2-3 feet) with this reel and it has treated me greatly (purchased the 4000 version). However, the fishing was hotter than typical last night and i got into a battle with a 4 n a half foot blacktip and that mother fought. During the fight, the drag system seemed to work well, but the shark may have been just a little too big for the reel as it began to make an odd clicking noise on every revolution. I managed to bring the shark in, but as the fishing was going well i decided to cast again- and when i managed to hook into another large shark, the same issue occurred. Not sure if the reel is messed up for good now or if it only clicks when there is a large fish hooked. Other than that one issue the reel has been very good to me 4 stars

best spinning reel at this price
This reel is awesome! I bought this reel for shad fishing this year. I replaced it with my $100+ reel on my rod and the fishing experience is even better. It feels smooth and strong! I have to say it get easier to fight with big fish with this reel. I got 24 shad in 3 hours and really love this reel. So I come back and write this review. This is definitely the best spinning reel at this price.

Meh
The "original" price of this reel should be nowhere near over 100 dollars. The reel came in real spotty as far as paint and finish goes. Some parts looked real cheap but for 20 bucks, I can't complain although its misleading to say it's original price is over 100. So far, the reel feels solid although durability is questionable. It is quiet and smooth. I try to keep all my things nice and clean so the finish did bother me at first. I dont care much for open reels but decided to give this one a try for finesse fishing or crappies. I think it will serve its purpose for the time being but will definitely be buying a named brand next time around.

Short stem to reelseat
The real could be okay if the stem was longer to The Reel seat it's very tight fingers caught all the time. Another big mistake they made was cutting the weight down by hollowing out the spool which leaves it susceptible to dirt dust and debris getting under the spool very poor design.
