Does it work??
I use a lot of craft paper punches, and most of them struggle when trying to cut laminated paper, and adhesive sticker sheets. I've had success cutting both of those mediums with EK paper punches, and this EK circle paper punch is the same. It cuts cleanly through even vinyl sticker sheets, which are notoriously difficult. The vinyl has a tendency to stretch, which makes using paper punches almost impossible, without distorting the vinyl. The adhesive can cause long term use a problems for most paper punches. It builds up inside punches, and causes cheaper punches to fail quickly. There's something about EK paper punches that makes them last longer than other brands. Time will tell, but I'm very pleased with this EK paper punch. It's the first lever style EK paper punch that I've tried, and it makes easy work because it doesn't require a lot of effort. I like that it locks in the closed position because it's easier to store, and takes up less space. The lever style makes it versatile, looks great, and the overall weight makes it feel like a quality product. If you're looking for a great paper punch, give EK paper punches a try.

EK products are great!
Love this EK circle punch. I have several of this brand and overall they work the best of any I own. They're sharp, don't jam often, have a nice design that folds flat for storage. Very useful for my crafting purposes. Sharpen by cutting thru a few sheets of aluminum foil as needed.

Great for espresso filters
The 1.75” punch works great for cutting your preferred coffee filter paper into a perfect circle to fit a 51mm espresso basket. There’s a margin of space around the edges but it covers all the filter holes adequately. Just rinse/wet the filter disc you’ve cut and lay it over the interior of the basket and it sticks right where you want it before packing in your grounds. Edit: I have found that these hole punches all have difficulty making clean cuts on soft filter paper overtime (I have another one by a different brand). They start out great but quickly dull just enough to get stuck closed with a tab of uncut paper causing the jam. When this happens it is quite difficult to unjam and get the device to reset or open up. The best way to get it open when this happens, if it’s too tough to push open with your thumbs, is to use a hard piece or plastic or wood, that fits in the center of the opening, to tap it until it pops open (a screwdriver handle works well). The other thing I’ve found that works to help avoid this issue to begin with is to stack 3 or 4 filters together and punch them a at the same time. It takes substantially more force to make the cut but the added stiffness with more layers of paper seems to help avoid the paper jamming. It’s not a perfect solution as there are still occasional jams but it’s more consistent and way more efficient. Also worth noting, you can punch five holes/discs out of one filter, which yields you ten filter discs per size #4 coffee filter.

Good little punch. Can do 2 - 3 sheets of cardstock with ease.

Garbage. Doesn't work.
My intent is to use this to cut perfect sized filters to go into the portafilter basket for making espresso. This unit was recommended on an espresso channel on YouTube as being exactly the right size. Unfortunately, mine arrived and the very first attempt to cut didn't result in a punched piece coming through, nor would it open again after that. I really worked at it and eventually pried it back open with a great deal of effort (and the locking mechanism was NOT engaged), but only after completely mangling the filter I was trying to cut, both the uncut portion and the cutout piece. I tried on several different kinds and thicknesses of paper including a single sheet of relatively lightweight laser printer paper. What I found is that this punch is poorly machined. The Cutting edge is pretty imprecise and fairly jagged and somewhat dull when you really examine it closely, and it doesn't fit very precisely to the other edge against which it is doing the cutting. One section of the "blade" is so badly machined and such a poor fit that it never ever succeeds in cutting through a piece of paper, but rather tears it in just the right way so as to get it immediately stuck firmly in the mechanism, locking the punch into a closed position with the newly shredded paper bits completely wedged between the "blade" and the other metal surface so that it's very stuck in the closed position. There is no technique to get a good cut, whether going at it slowly, swiftly, firmly, gently, or any combination. It just gets completely stuck every single time and will never produce a proper punch. Every piece of paper processed with it gets completely mangled. Returning to see if maybe I can get a good one. Otherwise I'll be seeing if anybody else makes a 2.25 inch paper punch. UPDATE: Second one arrived with exactly the same issues as the first. Cutting edge is uneven, not sharp enough in places, rips/shreds the paper rather than cutting it. The metal used on the blade is low quality relatively soft metal, not the sort that will hold an edge. Even then, you'd think their machinery could produce a decently even, sharp surface even if it doesn't last. This is useless right out of the gate. I couldn't get a single good cut from it, and the thing gets totally stuck from the wedged shredded paper every single time. Returning, and I'm now searching for another 2.25" round paper punch, which sadly looks to be a difficult item to find.

Great Value EK Success Punch
Fantastic product. The price is really good for such a high quality item. It is really easy to use especially if you have dexterity problems. I find the EK Success punches and the Stampin Up punches are the best ones to use because you don't have to put too much pressure on them to punch cardstock. I have been using punches for several years and I would definitely recommend EK Success punches, I use this punch nearly every day and I haven't had any problems with it. I am slowly replacing my other brands of punches (because they are too heavy and bulky) with EK and Stampin Up punches because they are so easy to use, both brands are all stackable and take up far less storage space.
