hygger Super Mini Aquarium Single Sponge Filter for Small Fish Tank 0.5-5 Gallon

Recently one of my tanks started leaking so I had to tear it down but that meant my livestock didn't really have anywhere to go since my other tank is pretty stocked. I decided to convert a large cookie jar into a temporary community tank while I get my new tank up and running and this little filter has been keeping everyone alive in the meantime. After this, I plan to keep the setup for shrimp breeding. It's a nice filter that does what it's supposed to.

Perfect for my little hospital/grow-out tank! My only gripe is that since it is so small it is worthwhile to block about 80% of the flow from the outlet pipe to create extra vacuum coming from the large filter. I noticed a lot of vacuum in the lower half of the upper tube. I used a little superglue and a piece of foam (cut to size) to block the flow and the bubbles are a little bit smaller. This results in a huge increase of suction as the water is forced to be pulled through the lower filter even more. I will definitely buy one of these again. It is so easy to hide and works perfectly for my needs!

This filter has served my fish and I well for over a year now, it works well, keeps the water nice and aerated and is very quiet. super easy to use, just connect to an air pump (I use a mini one made by hygger with this filter), and then plug it into an outlet. The one drawback is that it can be a little difficult to clean inside of the filter tube area because it is so small and doesn't fully come apart. But overall, its a great mini filter for smaller tanks.

I think this is a perfect filter for a betta tank. I have this filter running in a 5 gallon Aqueon tank. Not crazy about the filter that came with it due to water flow being to harsh. Bettas have a hard time with that much water flow.

The small sponge filter is working well so far in my 3 gallon tank for my betta fish. It is connected to my hygger 1.5 watts mini air pump which provides a tolerable flow of bubbles. It is easy to assemble with the tubing that came with my pump but I do recommended getting a check valve to prevent possible back flow. Now I can have double filtration to keep my tank cleaner & help beneficial bacteria stay to keep my tank cycled. Great price too! 7/11/24 update: the sponge filters started producing tiny small bubbles that are getting trapped at the surface. I can see a tiny leak inside of the sponge filter but otherwise not sure if this is good or bad for the tank. See last pic compared to original video.

Product is nice and small for a little tank, but does absolutely nothing to filter it. In the second picture I have posted the red arrow shows the flow of air through the filter. As you can see, the air never reaches the actual sponge to cause the suction of water through the sponge. Therefore it is completely useless. I have it in my little 2 liter quarantine tank and it does absolutely nothing. Product looks great and it nice and small, but it is a joke. It doesn't filter a single thing. I guess you could use it as a weird air stone, but other than that it has no use. Hope this helps people not buy such a worthless product! :(

Perfect for small tanks and shrimp setups—gentle filtration without blasting the water. The sponge provides a good surface area for beneficial bacteria and is easy to rinse in tank water during maintenance. Compact footprint and simple setup. Great choice for nano aquariums.

does the job but doesn’t out perform anything for the same price. I like the look, only thing is the sponges can be a little loose.
