Great knife that is not just useful but also durable
This is a strong knife thats meant to take a beating, thus why its heavy. I treat it the same as I treat my fixed blade, it can easily break wood into kindling, gut a fish, open boxes, cut bark, cut rope, kinda strip the skin from moose (not as good as a skinning knife but good enough), and many more. This is a blade I clip on when I go hunting, biking, camping, hiking, fishing and whatever. Its something I would want to have for when SHTF. If your looking for a smaller blade I would still consider this knife just for its shear durability. When I first looked at the knife as I withdrew it from the package, I found myself thinking that it was bigger then how it looks online. I then noticed the weight of the blade, a LOT heavier then your common pocket knife. This heaviness is a good sign for those like me who prefer a more durable blade (meant to take a pounding) rather then a small and light weight blade (meant to be more discrete). The pocket clip on the handle is strong and a tight fit (good for those who do a lot of moving around), it is also removable. The blade came to me ready to use with a sharp edge, I tested for a un-tight pivot screw and found it was secure (this is tested by pushing the blade left and right to see if it wobbles). This is good to have in a emergency expressly with the lanyard hole at the bottom of the blade. It docent just serve a purpose of holding a fancy knotted line of 550 cord but also serves as a glass breaker to breakout (or break into) a locked or submerged vehicle, and for smashing the occasional skull in a self defense situation. The only downside would be the non synthetic handle. Having a synthetic handle is nice in the cold because your handle would not be as cold as the environment around it. This is easily avoided if the blade is kept in a pocket or your wearing gloves (which you should be if its that cold outside).

Excellent Knife!
I use a lot of knives but have found this one to be the best, particularly for a low price. I bought this knife over seven years ago and it is still going strong! Both the handle and blade are made of stainless steel. It feels very robust and "substantial" in the hand. I am a professional gunsmith and I use this knife all the time whether cutting off metal burrs or cleaning "boogered" threads with the knife edge and point. The clip makes the knife sit nicely in the pocket without too much of the handle showing. My knife has been used so much that I press the release and flick my wrist and the knife opens. That being said, I have never had the knife open in my pocket because the blade release is substantial weight and design. If I had only one knife to use in a casual, work, industrial, camping or survival setting, this would be it. In the photos you can see the relative measurements. In the last photo are certain features of the knife. On the left bottom is the opener. You place your index finger on the opener and move your finger rearward. This causes the blade to swivel open from the rear of the knife to the front which is depicted in the photo on the left hand side. On the right hand side is a combination lanyard and glass breaker. With regard to the clip, sorry lefties, but the clip cannot be reversed to the other side. With the knife in the closed position, the knife could easily be used as a force multiplier when held in a closed hand. You will not be disappointed in this knife.

Not a bad choice for a low cost folder.
Look, for this price, and from China, I didn't expect a super quality folder. I was actually pleasantly surprised by what I did get for my money. The knife is HEAVY. Heck, it's a weapon even with the blade closed! Is it super quality? No, but it came sharp, takes a good edge, and it's solid, without much play in the blade. The slightly assisted opening is quick and easily accomplished with one hand. The lockup is positive. The grip feels good in the hand, and the window breaker/lanyard loop is a nice touch. It's a little bulky for pocket carry, but it'll live well in a truck console, toolbox or backpack; and if it ever gets pinched, misplaced, left behind or falls overboard, I won't be out a lot of dough.

Solid, heavy, sharp, and sturdy. A great EDC knife!
An extremely durable and functional pocket knife. I've put mine through the ringer and it just keeps cutting away. It's easy to sharpen and keeps a great edge. It is a pretty heavy knife, but I see this as a plus. It would make for a great striking weapon or tool. After six years, I just recently had to tighten up the screws that hold the pocket clip in place. Just had to find the correct bit.

Great knife.
Absolutely love this knife. It's got weight to it and is durable. I bought another as a spare in case I lose it.

Truly - NO BETTER FOLDING KNIFE!!
This is by far, one of the nicest knives I've ever owned. So much so, I bought several as gifts and all my family who have one, keeps it with them and uses it on a daily basis! And that's saying something! When I gave my grandson one of these, he loved it so much, he saved up his pennies and bought his Dad one for Father's Day! (Now his Dad can use his own knife. -Ha!) The spring-assisted blade opening is phenomenal, easy for my wife with arthritis, the side clip handle grabs my pocket perfectly, small enough (but not too small) for an every day carry knife, and the blade is thick, sturdy and super sharp to cut open packages and work in the yard. This is a real workhorse of a knife that seems to take a beating and still doesn't need sharpening. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this product to anyone considering buying it. It truly is the best knife I've ever had. But I must say, I also have the slightly larger HR-30 model and really loving it too!!! One of these days they'll need sharpening, and when they do, I just ordered the Hoffman Richter knife sharpener that should be here in a few days ...just sayin... :) <two thumbs up - 5 stars> HR-15: Hoffman Richter HR-15 Tactical Folding Knife HR-30: Hoffman Richter HR-30 Tactical Folding Knife Pocket Knife Sharpener: Hoffman Richter HR-1 Pocket Knife Sharpener
