Snap-On does it again
First I want to say that I own several different makes of torque wrenches and this is the first CDI torque wrench that I have purchased. After using this torque wrench for several months I feel that I've used it enough to write an educated review. This review is for the 1 inch drive torque wrench and I use it for a specific job. It is used to torque bolts on a forklift attachment to a setting of 720 ft lbs. so it is a pretty hefty task and the torque is near the upper end of this wrenches scale. The wrench comes with a very sturdy (and heavy) metal carrying case which is a major plus. For a wrench of this magnitude and weight I was pleased to see it didn't come with the standard blow molded, and normally wimpy carrying case. It is a two piece torque wrench and once assembled it measures a whopping 70" and weighs around 25 lbs. The weight and length of this wrench make torquing bolts to over 700 lbs quite easy. I weigh in at 160 lbs so I figured I would be hanging on the end of this wrench to reach 720 lbs but with a medium effort two handed pull I can get the proper torque. However, it is quite a workout handling this wrench due to the weight. The torque wrench itself is of exceptional quality. Like I stated earlier I have several makes of torque wrenches and this one, by far, exceeds the rest with its quality and workmanship. The torque adjusting dial has a locking collar so once you select your specified torque you don't need to worry about the dial moving while handling the wrench. It locks in securely and is very easy to unlock and change your specs.Snap-On does it again with an exceptional tool that is aesthetically pleasing, ergonomic and extremely durable. And Amazon comes in with the best price on this product on the planet saving me several hundred dollars. I will never own another brand of torque wrench.

Great torque wrench
This CDI torque wrench is the best tool I have ever owned! Built in the same plant as Snap On! Only difference? No Snap On logo!!!! And the price was considerably less as well! The CDI 250# torque wrenches are by far the most reliable and durable wrenches available! It also arrived in a nice sturdy case as well!

The Quality Talks
Before writing my review about this torque wrench I'd start with advice. If you're ever buying precious tools such as measurement tools always ask for the quality that you can trust because miss measuring something would decently lead for failure.I did a lot of search for proper torque wrench to use in car repair and I've found a lot with different prices and different quality as it wasn't easy to come up with correct one.CDI seems to be specialized in torque wrenches and that was my first impression to buy this torque wrench because specialized companies focus on product quality pretty well, the price of this torque wrench wasn't the best and not the worst, $111 is reasonable for its quality.Upon unpacking the shipment I start feeling the great quality of it, the scale is pretty clear and easy to read, adjusting the torque very smooth and lock works very smooth too. The ratcheting mechanism works smooth with no looseness. easy to clean with mirror finish and metallic tough grip for proper handling.I had it on real work for about six months and it still looks like new and works like new, same smoothness of ratcheting mechanism same smoothness of adjusting torque setting and it just clicks where you want it to be.It's made in USA and some inner parts are imported, BUT who cares, the quality talks. and i also bought two different torque ranges.Bottom line; buy it with full confidence if you have cars to maintain 10-100 ft/lb is almost what you may need.

Excellent quality, very happy with my purchase
I did quite a bit of research on torque wrenches and came up with the CDI brand as a very good quality, accurate unit for an excellent price. I then searched for where to buy it for a good price and found the best price on Amazon. I ordered it and received it in a couple of days so I am very pleased.A number of pro's for this product:1. It is a solid, well crafted unit and has a metal handle so will not break readily with the amount of abuse I put them through2. To set the wrench, one rotation is 10. You would not believe how many wrenches go in 15's; you try to figure out (easily) how to get it to 85; not fun.3. It has a nice solid click when you get there!4. It has acurate readings (I verified it on a torque wrench bench tester).Cons:1. Once I got the wrench I noted that it is not as acurate when you get to the high end or very low end of its range. I was not concerned about the high end but I often do work that requires it to be below 50 ft lbs so I ended up getting another CDI torque wrench (3/8 drive) whose main range is 30-75 to fix that. Keep that in mind when buying this; it works most accurately between 50 and 225. (It is still quite acceptable but I'm a perfectionist when it comes to torque)Please note that to keep the wrench acurate you need to reset it back to the setting it came at from the factory (in this case 30). There was a document inside indicating this; that was good to know as I was always told to set it all the way out. Not following this every time your done using it is one quick way to have your wrench measurements go out of whack.Cheers

An absolutely brilliant torque wrench.
The immediately discernable difference between a hefty, high quality, pleasure to use, "comfortable in the hand", highly accurate (it comes with a certificate of accuracy), beautifully made tool such as this torque wrench and one made by a little known, offshore manufacturer is truly the difference between night and day. This CDI 1/2" drive torque wrench is quite likely more tool than I need to work on my car (a Porsche), simply snugging down the engine oil drain plug and re-attaching my road wheels. But that said, I wanted to be absolutely sure that the wrench I would be using to perform these simple but important tasks would be of the highest quality and accuracy while still being relatively affordable. This wrench most certainly meets all of those requirements and more.Yes, I could have purchased a less costly Asian made wrench, but truth-to-tell, I wanted the assurance inherent in using an American made tool from a well known and respected manufacturer. CDI, being a subsidiary of Snap-On (far too expensive for a shade tree mechanic such as myself) gives me that assurance. If I have a complaint, and I do, it is that the numbers embossed on the shank of the wrench are a little difficult to see and therefore to interpret unless the torque settings are adjusted directly under a strong light. Not a major hassle, but my (very) old Snap-On torque wrench was easier to set than this one. That minor inconvenience aside, this is a wonderful wrench. It is undoubtedly the best tool in my tool box now that my old Snap-On wrench has been sold. I fully expect it will serve me as well as that one did for many years to come.

I've used it a few times in the past week and this is waaaaay better quality than the cheaper Princess Auto special torque wrench ...
I would give this 6 stars if I could. I was actually thinking about buying a Snap-On wrench a few months back but the price stopped me. Well, this is certainly comparable to that level of quality but basically half the price. CDI Torque is a Snap-On sub-company anyway. I've used it a few times in the past week and this is waaaaay better quality than the cheaper Princess Auto special torque wrench I had before. Just night and day difference. If you are looking for a very high quality torque wrench at a reasonable price, just buy it. I'm now considering buying the 3/8" and 1/4" versions from CDI.

Easy to use and now I'm confident that I'm not ...
I almost bought the mastercraft maximum torque wrench on sale at 88$ but I read some reviews that people sheared off lug nuts with it and that it would stop working after less than ten uses. I've used this wrench on two jobs so far and the click is very obvious. Easy to use and now I'm confident that I'm not ruining my wheel bearings on my car from over torquing the lug nuts. The price is much higher than other wrenches but the quality is good. No plastic on this one except for a rubber pad at one end. You pay for quality and peace of mind.
