simplehuman Steel X-Frame Laundry Hamper, Double

Love, love, love this organizing hamper. I was lost with what to do to keep our laundry organized. Previously, I had one large hamper, which I had to empty out, sort the clothes, put back what I didn't want...then put the clothes that were ready to wash in a platic basket to carry downstairs. I inevitably always hit my knuckles on the door frame while carrying the basket. I felt we had clothes everywhere. I needed something that looked nice sitting in our bedroom, but also very functional. This is nice looking and functional!You can get an oversized load of laundry to fit in one of the baskets. This is perfect for my 4.0 cu ft washer. When this is full, I know it is time to do laundry. The design of this piece makes it easy to pick the basket up out of the base, even when full. I have never had the base tip over when pulling the basket out. You can carry the basket with one hand, again based on the design of the handles. (The only exception to this is there have been times where I waited too long, and the clothes are practically falling out...then you need two hands...but this is my fault...nothing to do with the design.) A plus...I no longer hit my knuckles while going through the door frame.You cannot see through the bags, so no worry about people seeing things if they walk in our room. Note: you can tell when there are clothes in the basket, but can't see any detail at all.We have been using this for about 8 months now, and it has held up incredible. No signs of showing any wear or tear, even though there are times when I have packed it fuller than you probably should.I only wish they had a sorter with three baskets, as I typically sort dark, lights and whites. We do still use another hamper for our whites...I eventually will break down and get the single version of this, even though it is a different size.

I didn't think I would care what a hamper looked like, but this one is certainly good looking. It is sturdy, well made (both the frame and bags) and fits many bathroom decors. I have had other hampers before that were ugly or just did not stand the test of time. Plus, many were just "hampers" and didn't have a good way of transporting the dirty clothes to your machine.Once again, simplehuman does it again and provides both form and function! I use one for darks, one for whites to keep things organized and then simply lift the bag out and bring it to the machine to empty. I think the volume of the bags is just about right. I would however prefer that the shape was a more narrow rectangle because the hamper is quite large and takes up precious walking space in my walk-in-closet. The hamper is large so putting it in our bathroom was going to cover up drawers that we regularly access.Sure, it's expensive, but we have been through other $20 hampers from Target, Bed Bath Beyond, etc. that fall apart, look ugly and/or don't stand up well over time. I am pretty sure this one will be the last hamper I ever use.

UPDATE: 6/18/2013I recently purchased the SINGLE X-Frame version. FYI - The bag on the SINGLE X-Frame is 50% larger (wider - same height) than the bags on the DOUBLE X-Frame hamper. In other words, two SINGLE X-Frames DO NOT equal one DOUBLE X-Frame. I thought I would mention this in case it helps someone in their decision. One person mentioned the bags on the DOUBLE X-Frame are smaller than expected. Another reviewer for the SINGLE X hamper thought it was larger than expected. The difference in the relative size between the BAGS on these two different versions explains it all. Regardless of size, I love both hampers. Now I just want the TRIPLE version, when/if it becomes available.----------------------------------------------Original Review for Double X-Frame:I called the company the minute I took it out of the box. What could be wrong with it? Well, it came in this gray/off-white color combination, not the taupe you see in the official picture on Amazon and elsewhere. I'm surprised nobody else mentioned it. The representative was very pleasant, but insisted they only make it in one color combo, and this was it. I initially planned to return this item, then quickly decided it was not an option.It is an interesting design. The frame seems sturdy and looks good in chrome but other color options would be nice. The bags are just the right size and I like the way they hang on the frame. But why limit it to just one or two bags - these should be made in three and four bag versions. Someone mentioned the bags should be larger. I think they are perfect. Each bag is large enough for a L/XL load of wash when filled to capacity. The overall size is just right, and it's easy to move for cleaning - no casters though, for the people who might like to move the whole frame to laundry room and back.SIMPLEHUMAN puts a lot of thought into their products and the results are often superior to the competition. I highly recommend this product and I plan on buying more when money becomes available, but I wish they weren't so expensive. Then the old saying - you get what you pay for - suddenly comes to mind.

Update:I've been in contact with h support again since ordering, and they're basically taking a "take it or leave it" approach. I either keep it as-is, or I return it. And they are standing firm on the claim that these bags are not made of polyester...too bad my pictures prove otherwise...lowering my rating.Original review:I called SimpleHuman customer service before placing my order, and the service rep assured me multiple times that the bags are canvas...yet the tag on each bag clearly states 100% polyester. I don't like the deception, and may end up returning the product due to this false advertisement/support. I love SimpleHuman products but if you are going to cut material costs you need to also cut prices, this is unacceptable.

J'ai remarqué ce panier à linge à double compartiment sur amazon.fr depuis de nombreux mois : il correspondait exactement à mes besoins (dans un compartiment : le coton blanc à laver à haute température ; et dans l'autre : le coton couleurs, chemises par exemple, à laver à 60° ou 40°...). Lorsque je l'ai découvert sur le site, son prix était de plus de 100 € : trop cher pour moi ; j'ai donc attendu quelques mois et bien m'en a pris puisque récemment ce prix est passé sous la barre des 100 €. Je me suis alors décidé à l'acheter. Très belle qualité et solidité ; grande simplicité d'utilisation. Je recommande.

Un estupendo cesto de ropa, robusto y solido, parece que haciendo un uso normal de el, deberia de durar muchos años. El unico motivo por el que no le doy las cindo estrellas, es su alto precio. El envio no me llego en las mejores condiciones, se envio es su mismo embalaje y los precintos estaban abierto, aunque esto no afecto al producto en si

I've given this 5 stars because it is extremely well made and very sturdy. It doesn't take up too much space in the bathroom and looks quite smart. The removable sacks are very easy to unhook and take straight to the washing machine. All the other laundry bins we had seen were either too small or were cheap and nasty, however, whilst the SimpleHuman Double X frame is very nice, it IS ridiculously pricey for something just to put your dirty laundry in!

Une de mes marques préférée, qualité de fabrication au top, ultra pratique.Attention, une série à un petit soucis, il manque une vis en plastique pour tenir un bac sur un côté. Deux commandés et deux fois le même soucis. Mais la suivante fut la bonne ;).
