ASENNO MSATA SSD 120GB

I took a gamble buying the ASENNO M.2 2280 NGFF 240GB SSD. It was the cheapest 240/256GB M.2 drive on Amazon but had zero reviews at the time. Specs and pictures did however look identical to other generic Chinese-made drives (Yucun, TCSUNBOW etc) which had positive reviews..This is NOT the fastest benchmarking M.2 drive. It is limited to NGFF SATA III speeds (600MB/s) rather than newer NMVe drives which can hit 3000MB/s-plus. However, any performance differences between NGFF & NVMe are only noticeable within benchmarks, or when transferring rearly-large files between two really fast drives.I purchased this ASENNO drive for my HP Zbook G3, which contains 2x M.2 slots. The 1st slot was already filled by a 512GB Toshiba NVMe drive which benhmarks at 2472 MB/s read and 1221 MB/s write. The new drive will be used as a backup drive only - so speed was never my priority, however I decided to run a few tests. The ASSENO 240GB benchmarks at 549 MB/s read / 482 MB/s write.Using Macrium Reflect software to copy an image of my existing OS (2-years old & 174 GB used space), I then performed 3x Restart tests on each drive. Time was measured between pressing the restart buttom (from Windows 10 Start menu) to the point at which the PC has completed restarting and Windows logn screen appeared. For the Toshiba NVMe drive this took an average of 28 seconds (inclusive of ~10-secs for BIOS POST). The ASENNO NGFF drive to just one second longer at 29 seconds. Windows 10 usage (browsing, Office, youtube, basic video edits ect) felt equally fast. Apart from the bencharks I really wouldnt be able to tell the difference.Of course, the big question is how long will this drive last. I cannot answer that one, but from my brief usage I have nothing but positives to say about it. If you need a very cheap M.2 2280 drive for your desktop/laptop, then I highly-recommend this one. It may not be quite as fast as the latest Samsung/Toshiba/Intel etc drives - but 95% of people will not notice any difference for 95% of usage cases.It's currenty a bargain @ £25 for 240GB (formated space 224GB).

My first time owning a internal ssd and I was not let down.Within 30 minutes of receiving the drive it was installed with Windows 10 operating system and running beautifully on my laptop.I still can’t get over how much faster it is than standard drives and the price was amazing

Bought this to replace a Kingston 60Gb mSATA SSD that has run well for 4.5 years but which gave a SMART warning that it had used up all spare reallocation blocks, so I thought I'd better swap it out before it completely failed.Bought this as it was available next day despite being a no-name brand. Boy what a mistake.This drive has failed three times in the week it's been running - just suddenly goes offline and the server it's in dies instantly. Reboot and things come back but that's a great way to corrupt data on other filesystems.So this will be going back as not fit for purpose. I would never buy a no-name brand again and strongly advise anyone else to avoid this at all costs.

Very fast and reliable ssd. My laptop is 10 Times faster now

I'm just going to say its fast, and the build quality is high. I'm impressed and will be buying more.
