Nice box with good construction and looks great. A littler smaller than expected.
Nice box with good construction and looks great. The lid is hinged and opens nicely - I'll probably attach chains on it to keep the hinges from bending if it opens too far. I will say, it is a lot smaller than I thought it would be - even though I read the measurements. I bought one of the Evans boxes from Walmart a month or two ago and it was much larger - I assumed these would be similar in size (my fault for assuming). This is the only reason it's four stars instead of five. The pictures show an iPhone SE on the top of the box and inside the box to give an idea of how big it actually is. I should have taken anothe rone with the phone standing up - but it's a little taller than the phone.

Somewhat happy with purchase.
These aren't designer sanded and smoothed and clear coat layered boxes. I'm not even sure if they're stained, maybe just a light oil. I don't use it for ammo, I use it in the bathroom to store things like my trimmers. I added a soft bottom to the inside. The box is a little rough in some places, I think they could have put a little more effort into rounding out edges and sanding things smoother for the price, but overall it's a decent box with a good size. There was some excess glue here and there, which I thought was sloppy looking, and some of the screws were driven in really far, past the wood surface....the least they could have done was put in some plugs to hide the screws entirely and fill the deep holes they made. They didn't even take the effort to debur the edges of the screw holes, so they're just splintered edges sticking out. But one big issue for me was the lid wasn't flush with the body, it falls more than a little short, almost half the width of the thickness of the wall of the wood, which makes it not look quite right, and also means you have to think about where you want to grab the lid to lift it. It doesn't sound like a big gripe, but imagine walking up steps that changed in height and spacing and angle from one step to the next.....it means you have to think about something that you otherwise shouldn't have to think about at all, and when it's small things like that, it can actually turn into big pains because they simply shouldn't exist. You shouldn't have to put even the slightest effort into thinking about how you need open the lid of a box,and that's where this box fails a little. One has to keep in mind that this box is sold as an ammo crate, and in that context it's a great rugged box for carrying your ammo and tossing it in the back of a truck, or stacking other ammo crates on top of it. Given its not so perfect condition, one wouldn't have to worry about it being too pretty to abuse a little. As long as the box lasts it's a decent buy, but with a little bit of extra effort they could have a better product on their hands, and probably attract more repeat customers. One positive thing I can say is the finger joints seemed to be cut and fitted properly. I think the only reason why this doesn't get a 1 star review is because I can appreciate not so perfect wood, and it's not something I will touch or open and close often.

Nice quality and size
Gave these to my two 20-something nephews for Christmas gifts. They are very hard to buy for, but they loved the boxes! "Manly" enough for the guys, but good for lots of practical uses. Good quality, nice size, and very handsome pieces for the price.

Arrived Broken
I bought this as a gift for my boyfriend. I was disappointed to see that it arrived with the lid broken, the hinges broken, and several pieces of wood & a few random screws inside the box. I returned it and was sent a replacement that was at least in one piece, but was missing 2 screws (which luckily I could replace using my own materials), and there is a nick in the lid. I would not purchase again.

Great graphics, but get something else...
The graphic design is very appealing. However, I was a little disappointed with the inside dimension of this product; too small. Also, the rope handles were in the way of storage space. It would also recommend that the maker of this product would institute a locking mechanism as well. Overall, I am somewhat please with this product, but I would not recommended it to anyone due to the above listed.
