Perfect intersection of comfort and price - flat, wide feet - on and off road riding
I researched every touring/adv moto boot that has ever existed. All of them from all of the sites. I had settled on a boot that I felt was a little more than what I wanted to pay, but it seemed the best for what I needed: a calf/mid calf boot for light off road and moto camping trips that wasn't too hot (I am very hot natured) and worked for flat, wide feet. For reference, my other moto shoes are size 11 except for my pair of waterproof zip boots that are a 12. I normally wear NB size 11, 11.5, or 12 depending on the style and whether it is 2E or 4E.After I thought I knew what I was getting, I stumbled upon this boot from O'Neal that hadn't shown up anywhere else. I had considered another O'Neal boot at a lesser price point, but reviews talked about how thick the boot was at the toe and a few other minor points that made me look elsewhere. I read all of the reviews on this boot and one other, so I went ahead and ordered a size 11 in this O'Neal and a size 12 in another boot. The other boot (from another brand and cheaper than these O'Neal boots) had some of the issues I was trying to avoid: huge toe box, super bulky, and just not what I was looking for. I tried on these from O'Neal and immediately loved them, but they felt a little snug on my left foot at the pinky toe side with some medium thickness socks that were midcalf. Length of the boot on my foot was perfect, but the width felt a tiny bit tight and my socks didn't go high enough to prevent the boot from rubbing on a spot on my calf (which I read in another review). I almost sent them back and was going to wait for a 12, but I had read a lot about how boots like this will loosen up in width after use. I also knew, from my size 12 boots, that I didn't want to leave too much room in length for off road riding and for some possible moto hiking/camping. I'm glad I didn't.After getting a few pairs of thinner, but durable, hiking boot socks that go about up to my knee, I found these to be more comfortable in width and also no longer hitting a spot on my calf. Then I went for a ride and knew by the end that these were the right boots in the right fit. They were definitely more comfortable by the end of the ride, very comfortable when I was standing on my pegs (Vstrom 650), and I didn't have to adjust my shifter. I did have a few mis-shifts going up in gears while getting used to the boots because they have a bigger toe box than what I normally wear, but it wasn't an issue enough that required me to raise my shifter (which I wanted to avoid for when not wearing these boots). The only downside so far is that they are warm, but it's an off road moto boot that goes mid-calf and is waterproof (which I have not yet tested). I think they're probably about as cool as a boot like that can get, and the socks I selected helped. I haven't gone on an off road trip yet, but I tested out everything I'd need to do with them and they seem great. It helps that they have thick soles because I'm not the tallest at 5'8" and these help me get a slightly better feel at stops since the VStrom is taller than my other bike. I'm planning a moto camping trip as soon as the weather stops being a jerk and I'll edit my post if there are any issues with the boots. I may wait until next spring to do an update so that I'll have them for a year before discussing durability or waterproofing.Bottom line: I recommend giving them a try. They fit my flat, wide feet pretty well at my normal size. If they feel barely snug, which usually drives me crazy, give them a minute to break in.

Good boot.
I like these better than my Alpine Stars. Fit was accurate. A little warm in the south Texas summer but pretty much everything is. Lol

Awesome Boots BUT Horrible Fit If Ya Have Chicken-Legs
O'Neal makes some really nice products, and when it came time to snag another pair of boots,I figured I'd be good to go with these guys.. Quality to price ratio is seriously hard to beat..These things are built very well, look great, and probably work great - As long as you've got thicker legs..For those of us who are more athletically built and/or have 'chicken-legs', these things are a pin. Literally.I tried them on for a few hours inside to try to get the hang of them and break em' in..[Yes, I was wearing thick / high socks] The bottom of the boot seemed to fit and latch perfectly..The top of the boot on the other hand - Not even close. The upper cuff was way too big to tighten enough to be able to wear the boots with riding pants worn outside of them.. So I tried again with the riding pants tucked in..Nope. Wow, I must really have some child-sized-calves. hahaLong story short, they were annoying, then irritating, then painful.. At that point, I gave up..I Really wanted to like and keep them! That just wasn't happening..After kickin' em' off, my legs continued to hurt, and I found out exactly why..The two spots on the top cuff areas that were the most uncomfortable were literally digging into my calves..Some might have quit while they were ahead, but not this guy.. Derp. hahaNeedless to say, they had to go back. [See attached photo of the gouge in my furry-drumstick]Both legs looked the same in the same spots. **Ouch**Would I recommend them: Yes and No.Yes - To anyone with big calves and/or fat legs.NO - To anyone with small calves and/or twig legs.Heads up: Plan-B worked flawlessly!I returned the O'Neals, and went with a pair of A-Stars Belize [mid height] boots..Those fit A-M-A-Z-I-N-G-L-Y ! ! ! So there IS hope for some of us after all. \m/

6 month daily riding review
I bought these trying to save a little money vs the more well known competing adv/touring boots. I was a little worried but I have nothing but great things to say about these boots.Quality: extreme quality of materials. I have no qualms with wear and tear, in fact, these boots show little signs of wear except for the leather patina. Even the glued seams still look and feel as they did day 1.Protection: I haven't taken a spill, yet... But these are very sturdy boots. Would I like to see some more hard ankle protection, sure. But, I ride a small bike and less off road than on the highway so the trade off in mobility is good for me. I ride all year, every day, rain, shine, cold or hot. No issues with any weather at all.Fit: order a half size up so you can better fit for thicker socks and ease pressure if you have wide feet like me. Very comfortable to wear, very cushy feel to the walk and very grippy soles. Very stiff upper, so not the best for hiking in after riding out to a camp.Overall I love these boots. If they ever break I will do my best to repair them or replace them with an identical pair. Great product, highly recommend to anyone who daily rides a motorcycle.
