Salzburger Modiano Regional Italian Playing Cards. Authentic Italian Deck.

This deck of Salzburg style, German-suited cards is a handsomely-printed and durable plastic card set. The illustrations are beautiful and printed with high quality and detail, and the plastic material plays extremely well. It's a great buy if you're looking for a German-style deck, and worth owning for the aesthetic appeal alone.Though it's included in Modiano's Italian Regional line, this is very much a traditional southern German deck. It has suits of Hearts, Bells, Acorns and Leaves, with all 36 of the normal German deck cards (6, 7, 8, 9, 10, Unter, Ober, King and 2-pipped Aces), including the "Weli" Wildcard/6 of Bells, and has fives added by the manufacturer to bring it to 40 cards. These cards are slightly narrower than a poker card, but taller, and noticeably bigger than some of the other cards in this line.While the description advertises it for Scopa/Briscola, it's not at all straightforward to play those games with this deck if you're used to Italian/Spanish suited cards, due to the differences in card ranks. I have yet to find any ready-made rules to adapt these cards for that use, so it's better get a more traditionally Italian/Spanish style deck of cards if that's what you're going for. On the other hand, if you're into Jass, Skat, Schafkopf etc, it's perfect.

I am collecting the cards from all the regions in Italy and have taught myself Scopa and Briscola. This deck is a wonderful addition to the collection and my wife and I have enjoyed hours playing both games. Looking forward to learning more games. The Modiano decks are beautiful and well made. We believe they will last a long time.

This is a beautiful deck of playing cards with German suits. There are 40 cards, as mentioned in the description, but they are 5-10, 3 courts and a deuce in each suit! Since the photo showing the 8 of hearts suggested as much, I was quite relieved to get the deck that was pictured and not the one in the description! They are 1/2 inch taller than regular playing cards and rather stiff, but fine for overhand shuffling.

I got these to play Schnapsen with.They are plain stock with no texture or linen finish. Paper is extra thick compared to normal decks so they are tougher. They are difficult to riffle shuffle.One sided is a little annoying (no symmetric face cards) but the art is very nice.Came slightly bowed.Definitely worth the money.
