Logic and Computer Design Fundamentals (4th Edition)

This book explains the content really clearly, I'd definitely get it if you need it for a class as it might explain things better than your professor. Fairly light book with a lot of information in it, great condition.

My professor chose this book as the text. This is the worst book ever. You cannot learn anything from it. 1. Obscure language. Can Mano and Kime write proper English? The exercise problems are ambiguous and sometimes have paradoxical descriptions, especially in Chapter 5 and 6. 2. No diagrams! This book does not have diagrams for most of the materials it covers. How am I supposed to know what a circuit/design/machine is like without a diagram of what it should be? For example, it doesn't have a diagram for the Moore Machine, although it spent several pages trying to explain in words that are notoriously hard to understand. I can't understand what a Moore Machine is without Wikipedia, so my conclusion is that Wikipedia is more useful than this book! 3. Very few examples. If your class requires this book, don't read it because it will simply confuse you more. Go to your school library and find some old books in the 90's or 80's, they really help.

This is a good book no doubt. At times the material can be alittle confusing or dense but if you re-read it you'll probably understand it better the second time around. you can find extra help on the authors web page so don't feel discouraged if something doesn't make sense. Examples in the book are clean and clear. GOOD BUY.

Bought this for a class. The class felt more like learning a fun game then a boring class! Many of the problems in this book felt like I was trying to solve a fun sudoku puzzle rather than a dull homework assignment. I highly recommend.

I had to get this book for a Introduction to Computer Organization class, and have found completing assignments with this only is near impossible. This book needs more examples, and problems worked out -- for example in Chapter one you learn about base X [X being any number] number system, well the book only gives you examples for basic numbering systems (Binary, Decimal, Octal, Hexadecimal) and never shows any examples for other number systems. This is not helpful when you have to multiply base 11 numbers... This book is well written and easy to follow, and if it had better examples (and more examples) I would probably give it five stars, but the lack of examples made it not very helpful for assignments, and it way too expensive!

Only used it once. The book does not cover state diagrams very well. If you are well grounded in computer science, it is likely that you will not need this book in your class.

I don't need another book, only this one. Das Buch ist zwar in englischer Sprache und die erste Auflage, z.Z. ist bereits die 4.Auflage erhältlich. Aber was ändert sich schon bei den kleinsten Bauteilen, beziehungsweise in der Digitaltechnik auf unterster Ebene. Habe das Buch in sehr guten Zustand bekommen und für rund 10% des Neupreises, kann mich dafür nur glücklich schätzen. Würde mir aber jeder Zeit das neue Buch ebenfalls leisten. Kann diesen Kauf wirklich nur empfehlen. Kurzer Inhalt: nuber systems k-maps ALU, Adder, MUX .... non memory and memory design register transver und vieles mehr. GM.

This is a really good textbook, but be warned that there are two different versions of this (even though the edition number, and everything else, is the same). And the page numbers/problem sets between the two versions are different. SO if you're buying this for a class, be warned
