Works Well
I am enjoying using this very much. I live about 25 miles from a major metropolitan area, and experienced no problems while in the country/suburbs, but initially had some static closer to the city when using the "default" station. Once I added some stations to the iPod via iTunes per the included CD-ROM, I was able to choose a more suitable setting for multiple locations and haven't had to switch.Loading the extra settings is easy and you can choose just a single one if you know of a reliably "blank" station in your driving area, or load a bunch if you'll be traveling. You can change this option by checking or unchecking the stations in iTunes, just as you would for a song list you wanted to put on your iPod.I do not use my iPod in shuffle mode so have not experienced the noise/tones generated by these station settings in that mode. However, you can work around this concern simply by creating playlists for your pod which don't include the station settings.(...)A friend of mine has the MonsterCable transmitter, and he hates it in this area. He got a cassette adapter for his car instead. Bet he wishes he'd gotten this.OH, and this works great in the house over the stereos as well! Love it.

Griffin iTrip is a waste of money
Before I purchased this item, I knew it was probably too good to be true. The FM transmitter looked really cool because it integrated with my iPod mini so well aesthetically. That's where the positive attributes of this item end. Here is a summary of the negative attributes:- Programming this thing is terrible. You have to load radio stations on the iPod as songs and it is a huge pain to set up.- This thing uses up your battery power very quickly on your iPod.- Because this thing works off of the iPod battery vs. a car charger, the reception is terrible.- Changing radio stations on the fly is not user friendly at all.I got rid of this within a week of purchasing it and upgraded to a Kensington unit that plugged into the cigarette lighter, lets you pick the radio station on the unit with a little lcd display, and charges the iPod while it is plugged in.Do not get the Griffin iTrip!

Worked great on our road trip
This is a great accessory for car travel. Yes, you lose some sound quality compared to a CD, but you'll hear this only if you're using it on home audio equipment or parked in your driveway. In the car, engine and wind noise easily cover any loss of sound quality. We just returned from a 2000 mile road trip and the iTrip was wonderful. In rual areas there's no problem at all. If you approach an area that uses your chosen frequency, you'll start hearing static and eventually the radio station will take over. All you have to do is find a channel with no signal and retune the iTrip. Granted its sometimes difficult to find a station if you're in a large city, but we were always able to find something that worked. My only reason for four stars vs 5 was that it took some practice to learn how to change stations. There were a few instances that I thought the thing simply didn't work when I had not tuned it correctly. Unfortunately it was sometimes difficult to see that I hadn't tuned it right. Here's how we eventually figured it out...you find a station with static. Using the iTrips instructions for tuning you select that station. If the static doesn't clear up in about few seconds after tuning the iTrip, you probably didn't tune it correctly. A digital indicator on the iTrip itself would be nice, but then again that would probably dictate a $50 price tag.Considering the price paid, I'm very happy with the product.

Great product and price
I have a lot of "windshield time" and one of the main reasons I purchased an iPod was to use for books I download from Audible.com (I was tired of burning 10-20 CD's per book), as well as giving me the capability to download music from iTunes. No, it doesn't sound like my Infinity speakers at home, but (1) I didn't expect it to, and (2) the sound quality is surprisingly very good for the most part with both books and music. There is only one city that I travel to/through where I get a little interference with the FM setting at 87.9, but 90% of the time it is not a problem. The Griffin iTrip Mini does a terrific job for a superb price and I highly recommend it.

Not as good as I expected
I read the bad reviews and thought, "Oh it'll work for me," but no. I got all kinds of static when I used the itrip (and I was in the mountains!). You have to hold it real close to the stereo and find the perfect radio station, and it still doesn't come through clearly. It's just annoying. I would suggest other alternatives to this product, for example: you can buy a cord that plugs into an auxiliary input on your stereo (my friend even has one of these on his car stereo). Or you can buy a different kind of radio transmitter that is much stronger than the itrip. There is a radio transmitter at radio shak that is better (though it requires batteries). Please don't spend your money on this.

Works with no problem.
The quality of material is pretty good and is in sync with the shape of the ipod. The only problem with the fm transmitters are that the quality of the songs goes down pretty bad. You are better off using a aux wire which I did. I still use the fm transmitter to play it over my music system. If you decide to buy this, please set the frequency to something other than the default one as every person has it set to 87.9. Or else half the time you might end up listening to somebody else's music rather than yours!
