Almost exact replacement for Lift Master Back-Up Battery
The back-up battery died on the garage door opener. No one in town carried the exact battery. Batteries Plus had a similar for $30 plus tax and Chamblerlin/Liftmaster wanted $50 plus tax and shipping! I looked up the part number on line and found a cross to another battery and used that to find this battery on Amazon. Even though shipping is almost as much as the battery it was half the price of what I could get it locally.Battery came factory "charged" and it was at full capacity over night! The original battery took 3 days to fully charge and it was only a 4.5Ah and this battery is 5.0Ah. The orignial battery had one 1/4" tab and one 3/16" tab and this battery both are 3/16" tabs but the 1/4" fast-on/push-on slid right on and made a good electrical connection.FYI: if the fast-on/push-on terminal is loose, with a pair of needle nose plier on the "looped or curled part" of terminal "GENTLY squeeze" and "narrow" the gap on both "looped parts" and terminal should make good contact again. If the terminal is corroded, rusted or falling apart, go to RadioShack or Auto Parts store and buy a new terminal (and a crimping tool if you don't have one) and replace the terminal. If the terminal is not corroded, narrowing the gap will take care of the loose contact. My only compliant is that the company takes several days to even ship the battery. Not sure if its because it a large multi-national company and that's they way they are, or did they charge the battery before shipping or small orders are "handled" once a week. It took about 2 weeks for the battery to arrive after ordering. Since so many companies on Amazon ship the same or next day and the items arrive in a week or less, a little over 2 weeks seemed forever because if there was a power outage, the door does not open. Luckily, though there were a couple of rain storms, power did not go out.I live in Arizona and due to the summer heat in the garage could have been why the original battery died in 2-1/2 years, but there is an exhaust fan in the garage which keeps temperature lower so battery should have lasted longer. Extreme cold can also shorten battery life. We have had spells of really cold weather the last two winters might have affected battery life as well (the garge is not heated). If this battery dies in 3 years or less, I am going to remotely mount battery in the laundry room 15 feet away in a ventilate box and fish 14AWG stranded wire through the attic and up size to 10AH battery. Because the battery and garage door opener are low voltage DC, electrical code in your area may not require conduit, but its a good idea to always run wires in conduit. Plastic corrigate or metal flexible conduit between J-boxes and 1/2" metal flex from the ceiling Single gang "oulet" box to the garage door open will make a nice clean "professional" intalled look.I would definately recommend this battery. I plan to use the same battery on another project to add external sirens to the alarm system.

Good batteries
Original review: I ordered two of these batteries from Amazon and received free shipping since I am an Amazon.com prime member. They arrived on time but the box they were in was damaged. Suspecting poor handling by the shipper, I opened the box to discover that it was the packaging not the shipping that caused the damage. There was no padding or protection of any type - no air bags, no peanuts, nothing - the pair of approx. 2 1/2" x 3" x 4" batteries were in a 4" x 8" x 10" box. The terminals were not covered and the two batteries could have come in contact with each other and shorted out. It's scary to imagine what that might have done. The terminals on one of the batteries are smashed flat against the top of the battery and will no doubt break off if I try to straighten them. After seeing the damage, I decided to return them to Amazon only to get this message:"For safety reasons, items that are classified as hazardous materials or use flammable liquids or gases cannot bereturned to Amazon.com. Customers should dispose of hazardous materials according to Local, State and Federal regulations. Customers should contact their local government or local waste company for directions on how to dispose of Household Hazardous Waste."So, beware, you may waste $35 like I have if your batteries arrive unusable. It came as a real surprise to me that a company can sell a product and not have any liability to replace it if it arrives defective - I've never experienced that with any other company. And, yes, I know these reviews are for the item not the seller. I believe a zero star is applicable for the item since it arrived defective and I am stuck with it whatever the reason.Update: Careful work with screwdriver, pliers, and a soldering gun allowed me to put these batteries in the backup power supply for my garage opener. They work fine, so I am changing my rating to 4 stars since the batteries themselves seem to be good quality. I hope the distressed terminals do not break off.Update 2/22/2011: Ordered another one of these for a security system. Amazon has fixed their packaging. This one arrived with the terminals well protected and the battery was in a box that fit it perfectly. This box was wrapped in plastic air bag padding and put in a larger shipping box.

Replacement for Ion Audio Explorer Bluetooth speaker
Got this to replace the battery in my ~3-4 year old Explorer Bluetooth speaker. I never really paid attention to the guidelines for getting max use out of the battery in my speaker. After not using it since the end of last football season, it would only hold a charge for about ~45 minutes max. Luckily (unlike in the Ion speaker I had prior to this model), this version has an easy-access port to replace the battery at home. For ~$15 bucks, I was able to replace the battery myself and was back in business for week #2's tailgate. Before you start anything, unplug and turn off power to the speaker. I also exhausted all battery power by playing it until it died. To replace the battery, take off the 4 screws that hold the small battery access hatch onto the speaker casing. The battery inside shouldn't be attached to anything (other than the 2 wires) but will probably have some foam striping around it to create a snug fit. You can either tilt the speaker to the side and hit it a few times on the opposite end or forcefully tap it against the ground while tilting the battery down so it will slide out. Alternately, you can use a suction cup to grasp it and slide it out enough to grab from the sides. Slide off the wires that connect the current battery and swap out the dead one for the new one (be sure to connect the right color wire to the right port). My replacement battery didn't have the extra foam strip padding around it so I improvised by folding up some paper strips and sliding them in the space between the battery and the speaker housing, just to help keep it from jostling around.
