So far it’s a FANTASTIC buy - still works more than two years!
Background: We are blessed in our family to have someone who knows a lot about PCs, so we’re not overly intimidated by needing to replace things inside a PC or trouble shooting. Some of the other purchaser’s negative reviews on this machine were daunting to me though, but the price was so good for the specs, we decided to try it in spite of some of the bad reviews. We concurrently use PCs and Macs of varying ages and operating systems. This is the 2d refurbished machine we’ve ever purchased (the other refurbished PC was a $100 refurbished HP years ago from Overstock.com that’s still working great), but from the varying experiences reflected in the reviews, it may be a bit of a roll of the dice. I like that Amazon is behind this product. Experience so far: It’s been almost two months of DAILY HEAVY USE on this PC, even creating 3D graphics using Blender, and so far this PC is working great. Very fast efficient start up. Tackles memory hog tasks such as 3D rendering with Blender software well (especially for the price of the PC). However it’s relatively early days, so I still have some doubts of longevity (mostly because of the other Amazon reviews). So for what it’s worth, here’s my experience so far (from the reviews it appears there’s quite a bit of difference from person to person so read others reviews too). I’m writing the good and bad. 1) The PC arrived NOT well packaged for shipping, so I was dubious it wasn’t damaged. I felt the packing was so bad it disrespected the customer’s time because it seemed so likely the PC would be damaged simply because of poor packaging. For example, the exterior shipping box was damaged and the there was way too much room inside the shipping box for the PC tower to slip around. Luckily, somehow our PC survived the shipping, but the seller should fix this easy fix. Dear Seller: Please pack the PCs as if you had to use the PC yourself. Why go through all that work in refurbishing only to risk screwing it up in the shipping? -so even though the PC actually did work (hurray!), it worked in spite of the sloppy packaging, so I’d rate the packaging as needlessly carelessly bad. It also made me hope the restoration was done with more care and pride in workmanship than the packing was. Not a confidence/goodwill builder, sadly. 2). The PC arrived with a very basic keyboard that is 100% perfect for my needs (I use four computers side-by-side, so keyboard space is at a premium, so I actually love the keyboard, nice large clear letters on each key, easy to read and yet still efficiently space saving). 3) The PC arrived with a basic mouse, a bit smaller-sized but works 100% fine. 4) The PC itself looks as it should, except the seller put a BIG ugly white service sticker on top of the PC in a prominent place, not at all attractive, so I hope the seller reads this and uses more discreet sticker placement for other buyers. The ugly large white service sticker essentially kills any aesthetic/freshness the PC Tower could have. 5) The PC came with a small white wireless dongle that if you want wireless will take up one of the USB ports. 6) With great intrepidation, fearing the worst due to the poor shipping packaging, I hooked up the PC to its mouse and keyboard (and one of my monitors) and turned on the PC. EVERYTHING worked fine. The wireless dongle worked. It booted up. It was super SUPER fast. Eventually we used Ethernet cable instead of wireless Wi-Fi, and the Ethernet connection works fine too. I’ve used the PC to read CDs/DVDs and burned a test DVD just to make sure it works. It does. At least so far :) 7) Because this PC is NOT upgradable to Win 11, etc., be realistic. AFTER I felt the PC was working by running it through its paces, that’s when I bought software for it. In other words, given the negative reviews, make sure you like what you get before investing in software, BUT BEFORE YOU BUY RESEARCH THE AVAILABILITY OF THE SOFTWARE YOU USE FOR WINDOWS 10 Pro. Once you’ve run the PC through its paces, that’s when I recommend you actually buy the most recent version of the software you use that is compatible with Windows 10pro, because eventually the software companies won’t be supporting Windows 10 anymore. (By way of example, the last version of Adobe Photoshop that you could buy to own (as opposed to rent monthly) is not compatible with operating systems past Windows 7, so for the rest of my life I’ll need a Windows 7 machine to use that older Adobe software; similarly if you don’t want to pay a monthly subscription fee for Word/Excel/etc., you’ll need to buy a version of Office that is still compatible with Windows 10 pro (I bought Office 2019 Pro). 8) So this PC has worked well for me with Blender, Outlook, Excel, Word, and the operating system/computer surprisingly came pre-loaded with various software things - even an interesting 3D program (that was a happy surprise, must be part of Windows 10 pro!?!), and I’ve used the PC for the internet, and the PC networked easily to the printer, etc. 9) Eventually all PCs die/fritz. I backup at least daily to an external hard drive, because you just never know (and this is a refurbished PC, especially given the reviews, be realistic and backup backup backup. Bottom line: This is a speedy effective PC that so far is doing what I need it to do at a great price. There are some super easy fixes the seller can do (BETTER PACKAGING FOR SHIPPING & PLACE THE SERVICE STICKER IN A LESS VISIBLE PLACE). I didn’t need to contact the seller for anything because this PC booted up easily. If everyone had my experience I’d say buy without hesitation; I wonder how many of the bad experiences could have been avoided by better packaging? In any event, so far my experience is FANTASTIC FOR THE PRICE :) 6-17-22 update: it’s still working GREAT, super fast, this morning I thought to myself what an excellent purchase this has been so far. Still FANTASTIC FOR THE PRICE. Of course, haven’t reached the year mark yet & a computer needs to function much longer than this to earn full high grades so early days still, but very happy so far. 9-7-22 update: Still turns on super fast, gets to the log in screen super fast, and then once the password is entered, the PC still gets to the main screen super fast. It’s still working GREAT, super fast, and again this morning I thought to myself what an excellent purchase this has been so far. So: Still FANTASTIC FOR THE PRICE. Of course, haven’t reached the year mark yet & a computer needs to function much longer than this to earn full high grades so early days still, but still very happy so far. 1-15-23 update: Still turns on super fast, gets to the log in screen super fast, and then once the password is entered, the PC still gets to the main screen super fast. It’s still working GREAT, super fast, and again this morning I thought to myself what an excellent purchase this has been so far. So: Still FANTASTIC FOR THE PRICE. This is just a few months to the year mark yet & a computer needs to function longer than this to earn fullest highest grades, but still very happy so far. (I will add that this computer is not my primary computer for randomly lollygagging around the internet, so I have been avoiding some of the 'internet junk' that mysteriously accumulates and clogs ones computer when one surfs the web). 10-21-2024 - STILL HAPPY WITH THIS PC! No issues, so this is officially a great buy :). Hope this is helpful info for you.

Super Fast Computer & Very Affordable
I purchased "renewed" or refurbished computer from and Amazon affiliated company in the past and it worked perfectly. So I was confident about purchasing a second "renewed" computer. I am a professional Hollywood recording engineer and music video director/producer. In my business, speed is critical. I need at least 32 GB RAM. Having a 1 TB hard drive is also helpful with the professional programs that I utilized (Avid Protools, Waves, SoundToys, FabFilter, etc.) This new computer arrived well packed (box with foam, within another box). Everything works perfectly. System checks confirm: 32 GB RAM, IntelCore i7 processer, 1 TB hard drive. Windows 10 was already installed, and it was like I bought it new (company obtains official permission to reissue Windows 10). A dongle is included for Wi-Fi (don't let that bother you, it is small, goes in the back, and is no big deal). The dongle was plug-n-play and found my Wi-Fi without any problems. After I entered my Wi-Fi password, the computer set up just fine. I was able to install my Wi-Fi printer without any problem. The computer has 10 USB ports, of which I believe 4 are USB 3. After Windows personalized set up, I proceeded to download Adobe Premier, Photoshop, After-Effects, and Illustrator without any problems. I purchased a 27-inch curved Dell monitor which accepts the DisplayPort cable that this high quality Dell computer uses. (You can buy converters to go from DisplayPort to HDMI if you monitor does not have a DisplayPort input - which works just fine - I did that with my prior "renewed" Dell computer). Get gold-tipped ones for better signal transmission. For the CPU speed, 32 GB RAM, and 1 TB hard drive, I saved myself about $2000 - $3000 in today's marker (April 2021). For those of you who have home recording studios, you will never match the speed of a desktop computer for the price if you are getting a laptop or Mac. You can get the fastest computer speed and highest RAM for the best prices with a desktop computer, PC, "renewed". With limited RAM and CPU speed, your plug-ins will lock up on you. You will still need to bounce down tracks with plug-ins, but you will not have to bounce down right away. By the way, my prior "renewed" Dell computer that I purchased from Amazon is still working perfectly in my recording studio.

Cheap but not worth the risk
Its an inexpensive tower and was expecting what I paid for. Older PC with an older HDMI port, no internal wifi but came with an adapter all was fine except for the fact that it stopped working 6 months after being purchased. The PC wouldn't boot up and when it tried it went back to the notification (see photo). I reached out to a local PC repair shop who advised could be the SSD card but to repair would cost as much as I bought it for. I asked if the hardware was worth anything and due to the age of the tower its not worth much. Basically I paid $200 to use this tower for 6 months. I tried to contact the manufacture but they dont do mail in orders for larger towers and its passed return date. Avoid these, few may get lucky but for the rest these will go out quick.

Decent PC for my needs
I bought this to replace my old PC that has since gotten to tortoise speed in terms of starting up and system response. This renewed PC is just what I needed. The start up sequence is extremely fast and programs load very fast as well. Can't complain with the 32 Gb of ram and fast SSD! I only played old version of TiberianSun and no latest games so I can't compare, But this old game runs fine. They sent me slightly different spec thought, I mean the spec matches what I bought but just what it says on the box is different. But overall it was fine so I have no complains on that. I did have an issue with the PC after a week. It kept on hitting something either when running programs or browsing internet, or window upgrades; and the system just reboots. I ran a memory diagnostics and turns out there a defective memory stick. I reported to the seller and they shipped a replacement ram that worked. It did take a week of back and forth to get it resolved, and then another week for the replacement as I think they forgot... But I think this seller is good and trustworthy. So in my books, this is a good buy.

Great investment If...
Wow!!! A Pc for 200$!? too good to be true? (Warning long review) So I needed a PC to hold me over while I built my main rig (so I bought this XD) The particular model I got had an i7-4770 - 32 GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD and Windows 10 PRO I paid 202$ but I've seen it for around 185-212$ USD This is a Review of the Dell Optiplex 9020 MT How It Shipped- Not good... had thin-ish bubble wrap and a box to protect it from the FedEx driver who might dropkick it... (mine was kind- yay) All the specs were true to the listing and it boots in around 12-16 seconds 4 Kingston DIMMs of 8GB ddr3 1333mhz (32GB) and I have had no failures yet It also came with a Hajaan 1 TB SSD which can be had for around 60$ USD as of writing (opinions are mixed about the quality of the SSD but I have yet to find any issue in daily use) COOLING - a simple downdraft CPU cooler and a single fan in the back??? Okay not "great" but temps under OCCT (CPU stress test) never hit more than 90c (during an hour-long test) And during gaming, it never hit higher than 82c with an average of 60-75c!!! (NOTE) the rear fan was originally set up as an exhaust (in mine) I flipped it to become an intake and the system runs around 3c less than stock!!! Speaking of cooling I thought as a refurbished office PC it would have a little dust from its prior life... NOPE- it was SPOTLESS, I'm VERY appreciative of the refurbisher selling clean systems (plus the SSD had a PROPER mount so kudos to that) ACCESSORIES - (I'll keep it brief it's a $200 computer I know accessories won't be "amazing") Keyboard and Mouse - light and clicky but better than nothing Wi-Fi adapter... DO NOT USE It gets concerningly hot under load and the MAX speed recorded by internet speed test was 60mbs down and 30mbs up but when overheating- speeds drop to unusable levels (and this was nearly constant) I replaced it with a TP-Link USB AC1300Mbps and have had no issues since I know everyone will use this PC differently but here are my uses and how well it works for me Uses and Performance!! (Before mods) 1# 1080p Video Editing It "works" if you make small videos then it is “good” 32GB of RAM and editing off of an SSD is NUTS However, due to weak integrated graphics export times are slow. Scrubbing can be choppy too... (I use Wondershare Filmora, different software May utilize Hardware differently) 2# Web Browsing It will destroy web browsing for the majority of people out there 3# Gaming... if this is your primary concern then you might want to look elsewhere if you're not into upgrading... HOWEVER for light games (all 1080p low settings) Unturned. 6 FPS Average Roblox. 25 FPS Average Minecraft (java) 10 FPS Average If all you want to do is "play the games" then buy it and enjoy However, attempting to screen record or stream from this setup would not work (assuming you have sanity) Let's Upgrade it- (I spent 450$ if GPU is factored in) I added an AMD Radeon RX 5500 4GB because of this card’s 130-watt TDP, I upgraded the PSU to a Corsair RM750e (2023) DO NOT USE STATA TO 6/8 PIN (the risk to your components and your home is worth more than $120 for a new PSU and Adapter) Adapter??? Oh yeah, I should mention that a standard ATX power supply uses a 24-pin motherboard power connector and THIS Dell Optiplex uses an 8pin for motherboard power (I paid 10$ for a 24 to 8-pin adapter) note I got this GPU for free (yay me) I would suggest an RX 580 8GB instead which sells for around 100$ and is about the best GPU can put in the system alternatively, you can put a GTX 1660 in here if you prefer Team Green (all three cards are within about 6% of each other in terms of performance) so go for whatever works for you!!! Uses and Performance!! (After mods) 1# 1080p Video Editing It LOVES IT Again SSD and RAM are awesome but since I work with higher-ish production edits (think 40 - 200GB of data for a video) GPU helps and it runs well, 16 hours of gaming footage (1080p @ 60FPS) Rendered in like 3 hours (I use Wondershare Filmora, so again different software May utilize Hardware differently) #2 Web Browsing It will destroy web browsing and then some XD #3 Gaming... Not 300FPS AAA gamer ready but DANG for light games (all 1080p high settings) Unturned. 50-100 FPS Roblox. 60 FPS, it just seems to have an FPS cap... and its PINNED Minecraft (java) 40-70 FPS (I want 60 as my min but I will live as this is the .1% low with the main average being shown) I can probably stream and I use this system to record very comfortably!!!! Now the CONS!!!! (these are all the issues I found) 1# If you didn't upgrade, there is no built-in HDMI port for the system FIXABLE 2# 4th gen Intel = No Windows 11 This could be a reasonable deal-breaker for some people if you like Windows, then Windows 10 will lose its security updates in the coming year!!! 3# Very little user control even in bios!!! this one may more apply to the Geeks but a lot of things, like XMP don't exist, and fan speed control? Dell thinks you don't need that!!! REALLY DELL (sorry for yelling) All of these things don't really bother me except the last one You can get a DisplayPort to HDMI adapter for around 10$ No Windows 11 but I'm going to deploy this as a storage server later in its life running Unraid!! There will be no Windows on the machine XD (will update when it is a server) TLDR: Good PC, great for very light games and web browsing no windows 11 but you can get HDMI with an adapter Easy to upgrade and make into a cheap and cheerful gaming rig at an unbeatable price

As advertised and works well
Mine came very clean with all parts intact and no boot issues. I booted it once as it came from the factory (using the EXTREMELY slow wifi dongle provided) and registered windows. Once I had that done, I shut it down and added a couple of components. Due to reading the specs, I knew I would need additional parts for my purposes, so I ordered a cheap-y Radeon 5450 card so I could run HDMI and a wifi card for internet. I attached a picture of the mobo layout because it is worth noting that it has only one true x16 PCI Express slot. That slot is very close to the 1 PCIe x1 slot (where I put the wifi card). A double-sized video card will block that PCIe x1 slot if you are planning to use it. I've been using the computer daily for over 3 months now without any issues. It runs very quiet, boots very quickly, and has all the processing power I need for daily use plus some light image and video editing. For the price, this can't be beat. Review the specs before buying to ensure it can do what you need it to. It has no HDMI ports and the wifi dongle is essentially trash. Aside from that, this is an amazing machine and well worth the price.

Bought in November, It's an okay PC
Bought this PC back in November (it is February - 3 Months In) and I have already gotten the "blue screen" of death on this PC. It works well but after having it for this long I did make some realizations such as its really outdated! CONS: The processor is 4th generation, we are on 14th generation i7 processors, to put it into perspective. The graphic card is outdated/discontinued. No longer has any support via Intel's website. It doesn't do well with video editing nor music production, it lags. Much software is too advanced to be taken well by this PC. PROS: Its affordable and can multitask certain tasks - just not heavy creative ones. Photo editing, website design, and graphic design works fine. I really like the 1TB and the RAM it has. Its a good deal! The prices is good if you are on a budget. Overall I already had to order a new computer cause this PC does not have the potential for the heavy creative work that I do. And I am concerned about the blue screens I have witnessed so far, not a good sign! Hope this helps those that are looking into buying an affordable refurbished computer. UPDATE 4/20/24: Bought in November, now the computer no longer starts. Didn’t do anything crazy with the computer, just stopped working. Didn’t even last 6 months! I wouldn’t buy from this seller, have bought refurbished before that lasted me years. Can’t return and no warranty.

Great Computer / Toss the Wifi dongle in the trash
I purchased two of these computers, one for my son and then one for myself. At the time of this review, I've had them for exactly two months. The first one took 7 days to my door, the second took 9 days, both were packed well. One had damage to the box, the Styrofoam inside was crushed to little pieces on one corner and there was a dent on the computer case (no fault of the seller) and the second PC had no damage to box but a small dent in computer case. Both worked great from the start with the exception of the wifi dongle that is included. Wifi was intermittent and slow while other PCs in the same room even 2.4Ghz built into my laptop worked better than the included dongles. Do yourself a favor and order a new wifi adapter. I ordered a 802.11ac (5Ghz only) adapter for each and my wifi speed increased x 10 and was rock solid. One thing that concerned me buying a refurb PC was the licensing of Windows 10, but it was easy to register the Win 10 Pro to my Microsoft account which was very nice. The included instructions recommended doing so. The instructions were decent, easy to understand. We are both very happy with these computers, the performance has exceeded our expectations. Aside from the wifi dongle, we have not had a single negative experience. I have loaded up a lot of software (Microsoft 365, MS Sql Server, MS Visual Studio 2015 and more) and it runs great. Every time I re-boot, I'm surprised by how quickly it comes back up. My computer has been on since the day I received it. I thought about deducting 1 star for the wifi dongle but I knew up front at time of purchase that it was a dongle so my expectations were pretty low, so I did not deduct. I got more than I was expecting from a refurbished computer and would recommend purchasing from this seller. Having 90 days to return it is nice to! 1 year later, both PC's running great! Still 5 stars!
