NOOK GLOWLIGHT eBook Reader 4GB (BNRV500)

I love this nook. I am a voracious reader and I read whenever I have time to do it. I can read with this Nook while my husband is sleeping and even at the lowest level light my Nook has, I can still read in bed before sleep, which I really missed doing since the lamp kept my husband up. This Nook has a long batter life and it doesn't take long to charge back up and you can charge it while you read. Even more efficient for me, the cord has the same micro usb cord as my cell phone. One cord can charge both. I did not want a color Nook or a Kindle - I just wanted a simple ebook reader, and this one is perfect for me.

The Nook Glowlight offers a wonderful reading experience. I got it as an upgrade from my Nook SimpleTouch for the backlight feature, and I have also found that it is lighter than the SimpleTouch, that the text doesn't "flash" on page turns anywhere near as often, and that the lesser contrast of the white color makes it seem more like reading a physical book. The battery doesn't last as long, but that's to be expected with the backlight, and it still lasts a decently long time. Other reviewers have complained about the lack of side buttons for page-turning, but that is a non-issue for me since I prefer tapping to turn anyway. All in all, if you are looking for a dedicated e-reader, you really can't go wrong with this.

This is a dandy little device. Since it has a backlit that can be adjusted to a person's preference, it comes in handy when a person wants to read in a dimly lit room. Funny story! I was in Savannah, GA for three days. Second night in hotel room, all the lights were off except the light from my glow light Nook. Suddenly, I noticed something out of the corner of my right eye. An apparition rose from the floor and came at me. I threw the nook down, covered my head, screamed (bleep) to the top of my lungs, and the apparition turned and went out through the ceiling. Don't believe me? I don't blame you, but I will always associate my little Nook with that event. It scared the bee-gee-bees out of me.

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!! I am on my third Glowlight since January. The product has serious software problems KNOWN to B&N. Within a week after receiving the third unit (second replacement) it began to fail. The pages would only turn backwards, sometimes not change either forward or backwards. The reader would not shut off, the screen would blank out. I can use it sometimes if it is plugged in but not for long! There is no Glowlight anymore. It is unconscionable to me that B&N would continue to market this product. Unfortunately, I am stuck with the product since I have several hundred dollars invested in Nook books. Be forewarned. Nearly all of my purchased books were obtained for my Nook Simple (which had no problems). I had loaned it to a friend take a look at but will take back for my own use

The Glowlight works on all levels and is fun to use. It does seem to use more battery than the Nook Simple Touch with Glowlight that I had before. Also, when I connected it to my computer, the 27 or so books I had loaded onto it did not show up in the computer directories. Not sure if this is a problem of the Glowlight or me, though.

I never thought I would get used to using an E-Book, but I love it. It's back lit so I can read in bed without a light and most importantly to me is the fact that I can change the font size and style for easier reading. It's light weight and a perfect size for easy holding. I would definitely buy it again.

Very good e-reader, but miss some things what the older Nook Glowlight had extra. Like buttons to turn pages on the edges, now it's difficult to read holding the reader with one hand and turn pages and holes in top and bottom to securly fix an cover.

This was originally for my grandmother but after a bit of being unable to figure out how to use it she just gave up and gave it to me. I am glad to have it because it makes for much easier reading in the dark than my original Nook Simple Touch! I am proud to say that I am using this Nook to introduce one of my younger brothers to The Harry Potter series! Oh the joys of magic!
