READ MY REVIEW!!!!
While I'm fortunate to have a feline that is meticulous about her personal cleanliness, she achieves this cleanliness by bathing in her water fountain. This means I have to clean her water fountain on a weekly, if not more frequent, basis. The PetSafe Drinkwell Ceramic Avalon Fountain is the fifth fountain I've purchased in my quest to find the perfect fountain. It is also the last in my quest, because it really is the PERFECT FOUNTAIN. I will tell you the criteria I have for a fountain, and how the PetSafe Drinkwell Ceramic Avalon Fountain meets those criteria. Criterion #1: The fountain must not require constant cleaning. By constant, I mean weekly. I believe it is reasonable to clean my feline's fountain once every two weeks. I refresh it daily with purified water, and wipe any hair off the edges. Other than that, I don't want to have to disassemble the fountain more frequently than once biweekly. Criterion #2: When I clean the fountain, it must be easy to clean, dishwasher safe, and easily re-assembled. The PetSafe Drinkwell Ceramic Avalon Fountain is not only easy to clean, it is dishwasher safe. The unit is both straightforward and simple in design. The fountain itself doesn't have any small crevices that are impossible to reach into and clean, a feature I really appreciate after owning four other fountains. What I especially appreciate about the unit is that it has an outer sponge-like filter that catches all the large debris that finds its way into the fountain. In my case, that large debris is primarily the hair my Maine Coon Ragdoll mix sheds while "bathing" herself. I am able to tell when the outer filter has hair in it, because the fountain's water flow is reduced. When I see that reduction in water flow, I am able to pull off the top section, rinse out the outer filter, put it back together and fill with fresh water in less than 3 minutes. Voila! Can you get any better than that??? About every two weeks I do a thorough cleaning and disassemble the unit and hand wash it in the sink. It takes me maybe a couple minutes more to do this. Because of the outer filter, I don't have to replace the inner charcoal filter as frequently as I did on other units, making the maintenance on this unit much less expensive than on others. Criterion #3: Speaking of expense, this unit is much less expensive to maintain than others. Why? Because of that amazing outer filter! That outer filter captures all the hair and large debris that would generally find its way into the smaller inner charcoal filter, the filter that we all have to replace on our pet fountains on a regular basis. Have a particularly hairy feline? Well, the outer filter can be replaced, too, and for super cheap! Criterion #4: She has to LOVE it. Yes, I LOVE my feline, and I want to bring her the same happiness she brings me; so, she must LOVE her pet fountain, be intrigued by it, and prefer it over my toilet:-) I am happy to report that my feline loves the PetSafe Drinkwell Ceramic Avalon Fountain! She drinks out of it constantly, but also plays and baths in it. I am so happy with this fountain that I've purchased the replacement filters in bulk. That's saying a lot for someone who's on her fifth fountain. I HIGHLY recommend the PetSafe Drinkwell Ceramic Avalon Fountain!

LOVE this fountain for my BLIND dog !!!
LOVE LOVE LOVE this fountain for my BLIND dog !!!If you have BLIND DOG and you're looking for a fountain bowl that MAKES SOME TRICKLING WATER NOISE that your dog can follow the sound to find the bowl, easy to clean and refill, this is your bowl !!!!Recently my 6 year old Vizsla/Aussie mix rescue a.k.a. my "soulmate furry" that was treated and doing well after radiation for a brain tumor 2 years ago suddenly went blind, diagnosed with SARDS (could be from the tumor coming back, but docs don't think so). Well all of the sudden our world, her world especially, was turned upside down on July 8th.Very depressing for us both, I was so sad to watch her stumble around, she couldn't even find the simplest of things, namely the WATER BOWL !!!!In my frustration and struggling with her new sudden complete blindness, I jumped into action and ordered from Amazon and immediately started reading a blind dogs book (highly recommended by the way if you have a blind dog!) and searching for a pet fountain that would MAKE NOISE so she could find the water bowl in the house. WELL this one is FANTASTIC !!!!30 seconds after filling it up and turning it on, she got up out of the kitchen and followed the sound to the water and found the bowl !!!! Imagine my excitement watching her find the bowl on her own!!! Priceless! The first bowl in stainless steel of another model that I bought, the Pioneer Big Max stainless, was a great bowl design I loved it, but it was completely quiet with no running water noise at all, and then it was running all but 10 minutes when the motor suddenly quit and it wouldn't function. So I sent that one back and bought this one pronto. Boy am I thrilled with this! So I want to share with you that if you are looking for a bowl that makes some noise for your BLIND or partially blind dog or cat, this is the one! It's easy to clean and I also bought the replacement charcoal and also the foam filters on Amazon (shop around with different sellers on here because the price differences on supplies is amazing, some are way low while others are way high). It comes with 1 of each to get you started but in about 2 weeks you will need to change them. I also bought the $8 cleaning brush kit and just received it and used it, I'll keep it for tight spots/areas but baby bottle brushes would do the same thing so just buy those somewhere locally if you can. Same thing pretty much!I don't put mine in the dishwasher, as others have said they did; as simple as it is, I just carry it to the sink and wash it all over there then we're back in business. I have 3 dogs in all, from 30 pounds up to my blind girl who is 75 pounds and they all use it and love it.In fact I love it so much I'm considering buying a 2nd one for our enclosed patio room where she likes to hang out with me.I give this awesome simple upkeep bowl 5 stars! Thank you Drinkwell Ceramic !!!
