Mary Oliver writes about her dogs and the love of dogs in general in this book of poems. This is a great book for you to be introduced to her poems. I enjoyed it very much.

Bought several for hard to gift dog owners. Very sweet and uplifting, light.

This was a gift to a family member so I didn’t get to read the poems. However, these poems are perfect for dog lovers.

These poems are a reminder that we are, despite our technology, still a part of the natural world and dogs are our intermediaries.

I picked this book up and could not put it down. Such sweet stories about dogs and every good feeling they teach us to feel. Their silly to serious moods are captured in each of Oliver’s stories reminding us just how good dogs are at owning our hearts. All of our dogs are and have been rescues just like Mary’s Ben and Sammy. Her tribute to them and all of her dogs are special, relatable and lovely. This is a great book to pick up anytime — even reading just one or two stories will enhance your mood. Your heart will thank you.

Poems are a tricky thing. One person may get significance from a poem while another doesn't. I loved this collection mostly because I love dogs. She perfectly reflects what we all think is special about our own dogs. Highly recommend

I sent this book of poetry as a gift to a champion Great Pyrenees Breeder in Canada. She has been over joyed with the book both the beauty of the physical aspects including binding, illustrations, and most of all the beauty of the poetry. She is an older lady with sight issues. She related to me that larger print would have been helpful.
