Highly recommend!
This is a fun and engaging book with great nuggets of imbedded advise on some common social and family issues confronting girls in and just entering middle school. Ava's diary entries present a well-spun and easy-to-relate-to story, with the bonus of giving the reader a whole new appreciation for the cleverness of word-play. Love those palindromes: "DESSERTS I STRESSED" !

Book is good
This is a good book because it has a moral and some good reasons why you should never judge a book by its cover and don't judge people until you know everything (or a lot) about them. I loved this book, it was recommended in a magazine so I decided to take their advice and read it. Great book :)

One for the girls
My eight-year-old loved the story as well as the characters in the book. She would like to continue reading the series. Ava & Pip is not as easy to read as the Heidi Heckelbeck series but my daughter read one chapter for every two I read to her (this is her first year at an English speaking school so other students may breeze through it). My daughter found the wordplay fascinating but I'd enough of it by the time we finished the book.

Held the interest of a Grandmother.
I bought this book for my 9 year old granddaughter after I heard an interview with the author. Before I gave to her to read, I read it myself and I loved it. It totally held my interest. The writing is so good. Interesting story.

Are You Smarter Than This 5th Grader?
The trials and errors of a 10-year-old girl as she attempts to help her extremely shy big sister...all recorded in her diary. This book is touching, but also often hilarious. I found myself giggling along with my granddaughter as I read the book to her.

I found out about this book after reading Roller Girl and Alls faire in middle school because I saw that she illustrated the book cover. I love the way the book is about sisters and particularly the bit about palindromes. I already knew about them because my sister is called Ava too. I would recommend this book to anyone over the age of 7 but mainly around 10. I'm 12 and enjoyed it so hopefully you will to. Jessica
