They don' t last
I bought two of these and they worked fine on our first power outage however shortly after one of them quit working. We were able to get a replacement but it only worked for a short time and then our original one quit working too. They won't hold a charge and get dim after 5 min. I contacted the company but no response so far. Really disappointed because I really liked how they first worked.

Replaced product working so far (3 weeks) [ Original Worked only once]
************************* Updated 4/26/2016 *************************I am updating my review as I finally got a replacement and it seems to work so far.+ves+ It took quite a few weeks to get the replacement, but customer service was helpful and responsive+ The replacement doesn't need the clip anymore. The older model, when unplugged form the socket, would need the supplied clip to short out the plug "prongs" to complete the circuit for the plug to light up. The new one lights up without the need for such a prong.-ves- Doesn't seem to light up on its own during a power failure. Basically it just charges the battery when off, and when no power is available, you can unplug it and turn it on by either leaving the bulb in the holder and turning on the switch (physically) or by unscrewing the bulb that then lights up on its own when cupped correctly in your palm. So for instance, if you leave this in a room plugged in, and the power goes out, you'd have to first stumble across the room to find it, then unplug it, turn it on before you could start using it.Most of its competing products do light up on their own - so you could spread them around your house, and just pick the nearest one up to use as a torch.************************* Original Review from Jan 11 *************************This light's main attraction to me was two-fold. 1) It is supposed to charge when plugged and light up if there was a power cut 2) It can be used as a torch in a couple of ways - either with the clip on the outlet prongs to complete the circuit. Or with the hand cupped around just the bulb.So in theory this should be a very good tool. In practice it worked without being plugged in just once. Just enough to fool me into keeping it :). Since the 1st time, I tried again in a few weeks and it'd only light up for 5 sec - very dim. And since then nothing.. Only works when plugged in.Obviously my battery is bad. I will try to contact Amazon to see if they'll take it back. If not, I will contact the manufacturer. 1 star as a regular low-brightness desk lamp. I put in this review because I saw one other similar issue being reported and maybe they have a bad batch. Also, note: I purchased this Etekcity LED Night Light, Flashlight: Rechargeable Emergency Light (7-10 ft.) and I am exceedingly happy with it . Better finish and much better function: dusk-to-dawn light, motion sensor light, emergency light and much more professional/attractive finish.

Sort of fun little lights
Sort of fun little lights. I made it light by holding the bulb in my hand and it was a great trick to play on my husband. I think it will be a handy little light.

These are the greatest lights for an emergency
These are the greatest lights for an emergency. I couldn't wait for my power to go out to use them. I have them placed throughout my house so when we lose power we will be able to see. I was cooking and we lost power and I flipped the switch and the kitchen was bright enough to finish my dinner. Also they have the BEST customer service. I ordered several for Christmas presents and one of the boxes were empty when it was opened Christmas Day. I emailed customer service on the 26th and the light was delivered on the 27th AMAZING!!

This light only works when plugged in. I was told that this would work in instances where the power is out, as it charges and then is usable without grounded power. That is not the case.
