The Family Big Argument Waiting To Happen. Riveting And Explosive.
I thought this was going to be boring. How wrong I was. Paul Newman is married to Elizabeth Taylor in this film. He hates her and he drinks whisky all the time. Burl Ives who is a plantation owner is celebrating his 65 th birthday. Or so he tries to. It ends up with them all arguing and trying to get their part of Burl Ives money and or property after he dies. Burl Ives has inoperable cancer. His family do not know this. It all ends up with Burl Ives telling his family and wife, to all shut up. The problem is they won't. The kids with their happy birthday and singing plus clapping, really got on my nerves. May who is the daughter in law, plays a very good part getting on every one's nerves and she is always being told to shut up. It all ends up in a big row. As Big Daddy ( Burl Ives ) tells them all what he really thinks of them all. Very good to watch. I would say this is a classic to be seen. Paul Newman, Burl Ives and Elizabeth Taylor are the electrifying actors in this marvellous film. PC. 16. 06.2018.

Great film
I remember this being on tv in the 70s, and the announcer saying what a great film it was. I watched, and wasn’t impressed. Now many years later, i agree with the guy from the tv. Great film and brilliant cast.

Good film in a strange package
This is a high-quality DVD of a classic film - yes, the screenplay fudges the Brick/Skipper relationship, but the actors are excellent (Burl Ives in particular delivers a much more rounded characterisation than usual) and Brick's nephews and nieces have been very well cast as repulsive little brats! Definitely worth the modest price. The "strangeness" of the packaging is that this is a double-sided DVD with the original Panavision version on one side and a 4:3 cropped version on the other - what on earth for? Just as well to have 2 versions in my case, as the 4:3 version froze at about 73 minutes. I thought I'd got an unlabelled pirate copy until I read the notes on the DVD box!

Newman & Taylor - A sure hit !
Cat on A Hot Tin roof is a real gem on DVD. However, you need to watch it twice to get the deep story line. All the actors have played their parts well, but Newman and Taylor steal the show outright.Picture quality is very good and worth having in your collection.Highly recommend it.

Outstanding version
Seeing this film again recently reminded me just what a great film it is. It's a very powerful story and the film keeps closely to the original play. The acting couldn't be better. All of the actors are excellent. Elizabeth Taylor and Paul Newman are superb: he in the way he depicts his feelings of hopelessness and radiates such antipathy and tension; and she, in subtle glances and body language, her enduring love for him and disappointment that their marriage is childless and failing.I don't think a better film version of the play could be made than this one.

Cat on a Hot Tin Roof
I love this film so much and highly recommend it. I bought it about 2 months back and watched it so many times already, the acting from Paul Newman and Elizabeth Taylor is fantastic and you're eyes are glued to the screen for the entire film. Although it may not be entirely accurate to the play it is still worth seeing and is a must for any classic Hollywood fan or movie buff!

Really good and interesting film.
I was really suprised with this film. It's definitely of it's time and a bit melodramatic compared to modern films but it's got a storyline that is still very relevant today and is really well acted. I've been watching some of the classic films recently and this one definitely stands out as a good one I'll be watching again.

I don't get the swicth off in my head, the click"... C'est lui qui la nomme "maggy the cat"... et de lui ordonner "jump off the roof maggy ... a cat get never injured"...
