I have a workbench with 2x8x12’s. The seams aren’t level or close due to lack of a table saw. Was able to plane, belt sand, then finish sand making them all even for gap filling. Worked out well. The planer helped make the deep gouged for leveling the surfaces much easier. Was still weeks of work and happy with the results vs how it started.

For an economy brand Skil tools are still as dependable as tools costing twice as much.

I couldn't be more pleased. I have never used a power planner before so I cannot offer a comparison, but I can tell you that my lack of experience did not hinder my ability to use this planner to complete the otherwise daunting task of shaving off the bottom off multiple doors, as well as in an artistic application. Very impressed. Maybe if I used a planner daily I would purchase a more expensive one, but for the occasional user, this baby seems quite enough.

Excellent tool, very easy to use and produces surfaces smoother than a frozen over lake.

My hubby uses this and he loves it. We have been tearing down an old building and are using it on the salvageable lumber we're getting. It's easy to handle and he likes it. The grip makes it easy to use even if you are left handed. Great buy.

The device is a bit heavy - it works very well but can take some getting used to, especially as the power cord has a tendency to get in the way - if you use an extension cord and put it over your shoulder with enough slack to keep you safe it’s more manageable - you don’t want to use this one handed, even if you could - so this was the safest way I found. In terms of quality it’s really well made, though it does leave a bit of a rough edge behind but it’s easy enough to sand that out. Also make sure you don’t apply pressure to the front as it goes off the edge of the work piece or you’ll have pretty bad tear out which you wouldn’t get from a hand plane.

Excellent planer in every aspect but be sure to check the alignment of the blades prior to first use. It’s always good practice to double check any new power tool for safety reasons to ensure that everything is properly tightened before using. Out of the box both blades of this planer were safely tightened but one was in perfect alignment and the other blade was inserted on an extreme angle. Easy enough to adjust blades but if left unchecked the skewed blade would have damaged the wood surface.
