Bought it for my Lenovo y500. Had my new SSD in it, and installed it in like 2 minutes. Super simple. Seems to work great too so far. Very pleased with the cost and quality.

Fits & works perfectly in my 2012 MacBook Pro. Installation was a breeze, I put an SSD in the main bay and moved the original HD to the optical Bay

I ended up using only the circuit board because it would not fit inside my new HP laptop computer. But I kind of expected that would be the case and used Velcro brand adhesive pad to hold the disk drive in place. I was installing a SSD and not a mechanical disk drive. I could not find any holes that would line up with this gadget and the metal protruded over some circuitry. I would have used the metal part if it was possible.But I'm just as pleased anyway because the circuit board adapter fit very well. I just had to find a way to secure the SSD and I did. I disassembled this adapter and recycled the components, so nothing went to waste.Look at my review of the HP Laptop Computer I wrote on September 6, 2016 in the 5 star review section. Amazon reports this as self-employment income to the IRS every year. So the self-employment social tax alone is 15.3% plus I have to pay income tax on whatever tax value Amazon assesses it to be. So it comes out to over 30% of the taxable value plus I have to write a mandatory review that passes their scrutiny. Sometimes they refuse my review and I have to rewrite it to their standards. This is a very good value laptop computer and I'm thinking about actually buying perhaps the next iteration. I already had some spare SSDs, so the upgrade cost was minimal. I did purchase an 8 GB RAM stick to bump it up to 8 GB. This particular model tops out at 8 GB from what I've read. My hp laptop with only 32gb of eMMC storage did not have the correct plug ins for a sata hard drive so I bought this to make a sata hdd connectable to it, I put in a 250 gb ssd into it with this caddy.

Replaced the optical disc drive in my Toshiba satellite laptop with a solid state drive using this. It was super easy to install, but the front plastic cover (the part you see on the outside of the laptop with the button) did not fit perfectly with the notches in this caddy, which was a bummer, but I kind of bent back one of the notches so it fits pretty well.

I used this to install a second Samsung Evo SSD on my 2012 MacBook Pro for video editing. I bought the 1TB version, I followed some instructions on YouTube and it was super simple. I already have a 500 GB Samsung SSD for my boot drive, now I have this second drive in the same machine. Using in external was annoying as far as unplugging and plugging. Plus i don't have to worry about bringing the external drive wherever I go. So the second hard drive in the machine is better for my needs.FIRST, REMEMBER TO FORMAT THE DRIVE USING YOUR COMPUTER. USE AN EXTERNAL ENCLOSURE OR A SATA TO USB CONNECTOR (WHAT I USED). YOUR COMPUTER WILL NOT READ THE HARD DRIVE UNLESS YOU FORMAT IT FIRST. I FORMATTED IT MAC OS EXTENDED JOURNALED. THEN I INSTALLED IN THE COMPUTER AND IT WAS WAS ABLE TO READ AND WRITE.

I bought this to put into an HP 14-an013nr and its fits *almost* perfectly. The fitament was not a problem with this device, just the way the HP laptop was designed itself. I'm guessing on an HP part would fit perfect. Anyway, I had to bend the thin portion of the caddy try ~1mm up to make it fit. And it fits perfect after making that small bend. There was interference between one of the threaded screw hole housing and the caddy tray housing.

I only recently found out these things exist and so for the last week have been enjoying having extra storage in an old small form factor Dell I have repurposed as a server/HTPC.It's an essential tool for anyone looking to expand their computer's storage capacity by replacing your optical drive with a 2.5" SATA hard drive, transforming unused drive space into additional storage.The build quality of the caddy is fine for the price. You wouldn't want to switch drives in and our many times but for a few drive changes it'll be fine. The design is compact and efficient, seamlessly fitting into the DVD drive bay of my computer.Installation was a breeze. It includes some screws but with an SSD I didn't bother to use them. The drive fitted snugly into the tray and the unit slid into my bay easily, leaving no gaps or loose parts.The drive was instantly recognized by the computer so no issues with the connector.Pleased I came across this. It's a clever and practical solution to add storage to a laptop of small form factor PC.

caddy works as intended, easy to install with one minor problem it doesnt like up properly with the screw hole that it needs to be used to affix it correctly but i assume thats more on the laptop oem side if things

Bought to expand and upgrade laptop. Fits ok but disappointed it didn't come with cover to close in side of unit. Once I took CD out, HDD went in but no cover to close hole and original doesn't fit back in once this is in. shame
