Worth every penny. This tiny USB fingerprint reader completely solved a daily annoyance in my desk setup. I keep my laptop closed and connected to external monitors, and this allows me to securely log in with my fingerprint without ever opening the lid. Setup was quick, recognition is fast and reliable, and it integrates seamlessly with my laptop’s existing fingerprint login. A small accessory that makes a big difference in convenience and workflow—especially if you use an external monitor setup full time.

I was skeptical about this product, USB Finger Print Reader versus built into the keyboard, but I had an older computer with a vast amount of data. I needed MFA Protection, a Stable Product, and a good value for the money. Guess what, it works as advertised, its compatible with my old HP, and meets expectations.

I purchased the ARCANITE USB Fingerprint Reader to streamline access and improve data security without the hassle of typing a password multiple times a day. I'm currently running this device on an Asus TUF ROG laptop equipped with an AMD processor, 64GB of DDR5 RAM, AMD Radeon 8GB dedicated graphics, and Windows 11 Professional. It plugs directly into a USB port (not via a USB hub), as I’ve read several mixed reviews regarding reduced functionality when routed through hubs. I took that advice seriously, and I believe it contributed to the device’s solid performance so far. Pros: Effortless Login: Signing in and unlocking the workstation is as easy as a single touch. It saves time and reduces frustration—especially in clinical or professional environments where efficiency and confidentiality matter. Compact & Lightweight: Although the construction is basic and feels quite minimalistic, it's discreet and doesn’t obstruct adjacent USB ports. Plug and Play: Installation was straightforward. Windows Hello recognized the reader immediately, and setup took less than five minutes. Secure Access: For a behavioral health professional, fast access must be paired with HIPAA-conscious security. This reader strikes a practical balance. Cons: Basic Build: The physical device feels a bit flimsy. Based on build quality alone, I would have estimated a retail value closer to $15. Occasional Delay: There have been rare moments of brief lag during fingerprint recognition, though not enough to disrupt workflow. Final Thoughts: If you're using a high-performance AMD system with Windows 11 Pro, and you prefer fast, password-free access to your machine, this is a solid little tool. While it won’t impress you with fancy features or premium design, it gets the job done. From a medical and professional standpoint, I’d recommend it—with the caveat that it works best when plugged directly into the machine.

I've had a few finger print readers that support Windows Hello but most of them are slow and/or randomly stop reading and require re-enrolment. I've had this reader for almost 2 years and it still reads instantly. I will tap it as fast as I can and it will still work. I compare it to the reliability and speed of Apple's Touch ID. I can also go to the bathroom and wash my hands and come back to my desk and it will still read reliably without having to dry my hands for 20mins to get them perfectly dry. I have my Bitwarden password managed set to lock when I lock my computer so I'm constantly typing my password to unlock the computer and then again to unlock Bitwarden. Now I just tap my finger to unlock windows and another tap to unlock Bitwarden. I also have my middle finger tied to my admin account so when I get a UAC prompt, I just tap my middle finger. This saves me so much time throughout the day as an IT professional. I have my reader stuck to the bottom of my desk at the end of a USB extension cable where it's easy to tap.

I added a TEC brand reader to my main laptop a few years ago and it has worked flawlessly. Purchased a new laptop for just our financial stuff and purchased this reader to go with it and it rarely works. Plugged it in, mapped two different fingerprints, works fine the first couple of times then quits working. I map two fingers because I have a tendency to not wear gloves and get cuts on my fingers preventing a successful scan. Whenever it would not scan on the new laptop I would scan the same finger using the TEC reader on my main laptop and it would work fine. Then I used the TEC scanner on the new laptop and it worked fine so it wasn't the laptop or my fingers. I ended up throwing this away and getting another TEC reader and again, works flawlessly on the new laptop. Don't waste your money on this one as it is truly worthless.

Very pleased with the Arcanite Scanner. Worked as advertised. Easy to install, just insert in USB port and your ready to go. Setup was very straight forward, took less than 5 minutes including initial fingerprint scan. This was my second scanner purchase from Amazon. This one is the keeper, I sent the first one back.

This isn't the first fingerprint reader I've bought, but it is the first to work so poorly. I've got a custom Windows 11 professional workstation using an MSI Creator motherboard which probably has more USB ports, and broader compatibility than any typical PC/laptop. It's also kept up to date in terms of drivers and OS updates on a weekly, so whatever the issues I had were almost certainly the device, not the PC. In any case, it seemed odd that it didn't immediately self-install. It was plugged into a port directly to the computer, not a hub. Anyway, I found the driver on the manufacturers web page and setup, including adding my fingerprint, went ahead without any problem. I tested it by locking the PC and then unlocking it via the reader... All good, or so it seemed. But then the next day when I wanted to log in: no dice. OK so I used my pass code, thinking it was a one-time issue. No, several more times during the day, using different relevant applications and each time the reader failed. I may well have just gotten a bad unit. Obviously many others are happy with theirs, but running into issues so soon didn't bode well so I requested a Return/Refund.

Works exceptionally well. Ease of use- Simple as plugging in to the computer, (in my case a laptop). Only issue was the motion required for it to register is awkward for laptop users because the way it plugs in forces you to tilt your laptop up towards you to get a finger reading.

Seems to work well with Windows Hello, pretty fast to register. Only thing to note is that it doesn't seem to work with an extension on USB 3.0 ports, at least for me. Solution was to use the extension with a 2.0 port and it worked fine. If you are getting the exclamation mark on the device when you look at the Biometric devices section on Windows Device Manager try using a USB 2.0 port.

Windows 11 otomatik olarak tanımadı fakat ürünün resmi sitesinden gerekli driveri indirip kurunca hemen tanıdı. 10 parmak izi ekleme özelliği var. Parmağınızı hemen algılıyor ve Windows açılıyor. Facebook,youtube vs gibi daha bir çok site için de yine kendi resmi sitesinden indireceğiniz smart-id yazılımı ile parmak izi ile oturum açma özelliği var. Bu sitelerde oturum açma bilgilerini saklayıp her sistem kurduğunuzda smart-id programına import ederek kullanabiliyorsunuz. Şu an için bir sorun yaşamadan kullanıyorum. Bilgisayarı her açtığımda şifre girme derdinden kurtuldum. Alacak kişilere kesinlikle tavsiye ederim...
