I also bought this because I previously owned a Toastmaster griddle for many years that I loved. But I'm rather disappointed in
As another reviewer stated, I also bought this because I previously owned a Toastmaster griddle for many years that I loved. But I'm rather disappointed in this one and I wish I had not discarded the old one. Even though its non-stick was worn and nicked in a few places, it still cooked better than this new one does!I agree with the poor rating on the non-stick coating given by another reviewer. I had to scrape the bacon leavings off the griddle with a wood spatula before cooking something else. I had to do this on my old unit too, which is part of why I was replacing it!The rounded ends on this griddle mean that it isn't quite 10X20; it's shorter in width at the corners but a little wider in depth in the middle. The extra depth isn't much help though, since much of it is part of the drip channel. Also, the plastic rim and legs means the griddle actually takes up 22 inches X 12 inches on the counter, which my previous Toastmaster grill did not do; the older unit was 10X20 total. On my old Toastmaster unit, the heating element and dial had the temperatures printed on the dial positions and cooking suggestions printed on the element which made it easy to use. This new one only has the numbers 1 through 6 on the dial positions, so there's no way of knowing what temperature each position is, without looking it up on the paper directions. By the third use, these paper directions were spattered with cooking oil and it's clear I'll have to reprint them eventually. When I was shopping for a new griddle before purchasing this one, I found that the reviews of nearly every model and manufacturer's griddle of this size had complaints about uneven cooking temperatures across the griddle surface. Unfortunately, this griddle is no champ in this area either; when cooking bacon or pancakes, you'll be shuffling things around to get them cooked evenly.I don't hate this new unit, but I don't really like it either. I wish I had kept my old dingy-looking unit and not wasted money on a new one.

AWESOME! Don't drop the grease trap.
I REALLY like this griddle. Honestly I bought this as a "bacon & party griddle". My stove works just fine but I run out of room when I'm cooking bacon for the family or having a small get together. I can cook a WHOLE pack of bacon on this! Guess what, it turns out perfect too. Yes the cooking is a little uneven but know where there heating element is before you start. You can faintly see it on the griddle surface too so that helps. Also start a half step lower with the heat setting that it suggests in the manual until you get familiar. Keep an eye on whatever it is you're cooking until you get familiar. I didn't know how much I'd love having one of these! I worked in a restaurant that had a large griddle with grease trap. This reminds me of a miniature version of that, grease trap and all. My only complaint is that the grease tray slides out way too easily and can fall on the floor when you carry it. The plastic seems brittle. So BE CAREFUL! Mine shattered into three pieces only falling 2ft onto tile. I super glued it. I was sad about it. Still love having this.
